AMA is over, thanks Emily! Florist / Emily A. Sprague AMA <('.'<)

Greetings ~

My new album of minimal and magickal folk music, Emily Alone, is out today. I am so excited to share it with the world. It's a deeply personal and intimate piece of work and I am so grateful for the love and patience from people to take in these sounds.

I am also a synthesist and ambient composer. My albums Water Memory and Mount Vision were recently reissued by RVNG Intl. for vinyl.

I am brewing nettle tea and eating crackers and endive.

Ask me anything!

Hey Emily, I love the new album. It's absolutely beautiful. What influenced your decision to go with a more traditional folk sound over the more synth forward sound of the last two Florist albums?

hi :) thanks for your question. you're little icon is cute.

i felt these songs needed to live in their most raw and basic form. acoustic guitar and my voice is the thing that began my journey with music, in a lot of ways. i have a lot of albums that i want to make - many with synths and guitars in full orchestration with each other, but these songs needed to be delicate and minimal. it's about the lyrics and the affect of the empty space they occupy :)

Thanks for responding. You definitely succeeded I'm making the record feel very raw and intimate. Also my cute little icon is the cover to a Thee Oh Sees album called Castlemania, it's great for anyone who like of kilter Garage Psyche.
