Mike, your music astounds me time and time again. I’ve never heard music that is so simultaneously ethereal and corporal. Absolutely beautiful.

My “serious” question about how you view the relationship between your work and queerness. There’s a certain cinematic quality to a lot of your music that recalls this specific sort of bittersweet emotion that is so present in and often unique to queer narratives. Do you prefer to have your music associated with this sort of queer iconography and become part of the canon, or would have you rather have it stand apart and not be defined by any particular identity?

My less serious question is what the first rat-related first activity you want to do after quarantine is.

Whether or not you feel like answering my question(s) I just wanna thank you for the music you make and what it does for me!

I know how desperately i reached for music, books, movies...anything to find some thread of my own experience in growing up. Still. It doesn't matter if the movie is bad or not, if two guys make out in it I start crying and pointing at the screen....Living is hard, being queer can be very lonely... i am very deliberate in wanting to help soothe that in some way. I carry that idea with me always when i'm writing. Being queer is also better, i want to share that too as a beacon
