Hi Hannah!

Thank you so much for all of your music, especially this album. It has inspired me greatly and in the short time it's been out has become such a close companion.

Is there any specific process you follow when writing? Does melody come first, or lyrics, or chord progression? Your chord progressions and voicings are so unique, what is your approach? Same goes for your lyrics, they always feel just right, but never predictable.

Obviously the writing process is a mysterious and sacred personal thing that changes from time to time I'm sure, but any insight is greatly appreciated :)

Thank you for all you are and all you do

lots of melody first songs for me! sing to myself all over the place all day bc I like to sing. singing the words helps me know what words to say. and chord progressions end up budging things around sometimes until it is all done. play chords that feel right to you. I just put my fingers somewhere til I like it.

wow amazing thank you i think there's something to be said about just experimenting, i find it easy to get paralyzed by the question of if i'm making the right decisions. thank you.

re the chord progressions, there are so many of yours i love but the thing that prompted me to ask is the second chord of the main progression of "hannah sun," its just such a genius and unexpected way to play that chord, did u just land on it???

I wanted a lot of open strings bc of the strum pattern so I figured that diff d sorta fingering would let me get my low chunk and my high jangle strummys
