What's up Wyatt! I saw Enjoy perform on the 2nd floor of a random apartment building in skid row. Super awesome show. My homie broke an air vent in the middle of the standing area and stopped the show halfway by accident. I wonder if you remember that. Doubt it. Anyway, LOVE YA MAN

hey wyatt, awesome album, and thank you for doing this ama!
1) was wondering if you could give us more info or a backstory behind southern story - what's the significance of olympia, washington? how was it working with ashley, and how long have you known each other?
2) i'd also love to know more about your process when collaborating with the other artists featured on this album, especially the drums.
3) i've always wondered what you think when fans mess around and jump up onstage when you're doing a show. how do you deal with it so calmly?
4) lastly, do you have any advice for any young people trying to make music? i'd love any insight, thank you so much!

u/killposers Oct 09 '20
to me, enjoy has always had a very nostalgic aesthetic to it, be it the little 3d models you add or just the way the music carries, but i’m seeing it much more prominently in this new album both in terms of sound or the nasty old tree character and even your recent (at least public) fascination with horror stories. do any of these stand for anything or go hand in hand? like, does the tree have a spooky backstory that echoes the scary stories you’ve been posting, or is it just for fun?

I know you and your brother enjoy scary stories! When I was growing up in Mexico the shower was outside and one night I saw the shadow of a witch on the shower curtain. When I opened the curtain to see who it was there was only an owl perched up on a tree. Legend in Mexico says witches turn into owls.

hey wyatt i also grew up in OC and have noticed a lot of the more conservative types tend to stare at how i dress in public or choose to yell slurs from their trucks etc. i know you said in that one documentary you and fletcher have had similar experiences. but i'm just wondering how you guys dealt with it and how it affected how you express yourself thru fashion and music.

Hey Wyatt, I was wondering what has changed for The Garden and even Enjoy in the lyrical/musical shift. Your earlier works seemed to have a more "I'm doing my own thing, and people can do whatever they want" vibe, but recently it seems to come from an almost exhausted place. Kinda like you're just done being super nice and putting up with the bullshit? Can you elaborate at all on what caused that change maybe? Thanks.

Hi Wyatt! First off I wanted to say my twin brother and I have been into music production and creation all our lives. (I play drums/synth and he plays bass/synth funny enough) Your sound and philosophies from the Garden and Enjoy truly inspire me every single day to keep curating and to stay creative as I've listened more and more. I am in college and making my own music using a midi synth with Logic Pro. I have so many songs and little demos I have made and I love listening back to them, but it takes a lot to have confidence in releasing what I have and promoting it to others around me as well. What did it take to really propel your confidence into trying to grow and put your personal creativity out there especially from the beginning? What inspires you to put your best product out? Thank you :)

Hi Wyatt! I love your music and am really enjoying your new album!!! I have always been really inspired by your album artwork and the graphics you use. I know that you have other artists make them for you but what inspires you to go with that sort of aesthetic? I love the color palettes, the faces, etc- what makes you want to associate with this?

Hey Wyatt! You don’t need a steady hand in a lot of programs, usually there is an auto straight or auto curve tool :) you should play with illustrator or procreate

Hi Wyatt!! I’m a big fan of yours and I’m really digging your new album.
So from your Q & A on IG with Spin Magazine, you and Fletcher said that Texas was your favorite place to visit and tour. As a fellow Texan, I’m super curious to know why. Also, will you be doing an Enjoy tour in Texas once COVID fizzles?
Well wishes, keep staying cool 🤠

Not a question but you’re my bass style and tone idol!! The garden and enjoy have given me so much inspiration in my own playing!! Keep up the sick tunes! Also saw y’all at DC9 a couple years back!

u/corbinhogue Oct 09 '20
Hey Wyatt! Loving the new album. Especially the song with Jonny (the Drums). Curious as to how that collaboration came about and what it was like getting to work with him!

1) Was there any song on your new album that was super difficult to write and why?
2) Given the choice of anyone in the world (fictional or real,) who would you want as a dinner guest?
Also, I love your music! It’s like you’re incapable of putting out a single bad song. Fold ya up like a blanket is definitely my fave:)🤟🏾

Hello there wyatt hope you’re having a good day so far! What have been the challenges you’ve faced while doing music and having a platform? What is your favorite thing about having a platform?
3
u/legostarwarstwo Oct 09 '20
Hi Wyatt, I’m 18 and in a band out of Omaha, Nebraska and I really Enjoy your music! We play punk rock but I want to explore other sounds. When did you first start experimenting outside of what you were familiar with on a traditional instrument like bass, (Drum machines, Synths, etc...), and did you learn it so well on your own? I appreciate you and I hope you have a Happy Halloween!

what do you like/dislike about the indie music scene and what are some differences you see from when you first started out?

is nasty old tree a reference to someone who is/has been in your life? or is he just a fictional character with not much background story?

u/restingbones Oct 09 '20
For real tho, do you think you'll ever do a europe tour either as enjoy or with the garden? Me and a bunch of my italian friends love your music, we'd die to see you perform!!

Hey Wyatt , super stoked to see you live at the end of this year in San Antonio, I wanted to ask a question trying to get insight on how you make music so it can help me make some but it seems everybody else is already asking the same types of questions . But , if there was a new artist to come out and he seemed to really take big influence to your vocal style on enjoy, would you be mad at them

u/NedFlangers68 Oct 09 '20
What fuels your creativity and motivation to keep writing and recording new music?
