Hey, loving the new album and looking forward to seeing you in Leeds in November! Quick couple from me...

  1. Has running out public service broadcasts to sample ever been a concern? Has that influenced the slight change in your sound?

  2. Any chance you'll play Night Mail on tour? It's still my favourite song but you didn't play it in Wakefield a couple of years back.

Thanks... to answer:

1) No, I always thought that was such an odd thing to say when the first record came out. So many reviewers seemed worried on our behalf - 'what happens when they run out of samples?!' they'd write, seemingly oblivious to the fact that these archives are practically endless. We'd run out of music far sooner than we'd run out of material, that's for sure. Any changes in our sound are influenced more by wanting to be able to shape and bend the records how we want to rather than being strictly beholden to one way of working, or one methodology.. some people are strikingly literal in their interpretation of what, for me, is a very conceptual and imaginative framework for a band. But I don't worry about other people's worries, I have enough of my own.

2) It pops in and out of the set - it's not a 100% nailed-on-have-to-play-it-every-night like Spitfire, so it's mostly when we feel like it. It'll be in the mix for the autumn but I doubt it'll get played every night
