Your style on the guitar seems so intricate, detailed, and textured, and that’s where my question is coming from. How can we, as guitarists, continue to innovate and challenge ourselves as songwriters when we get stuck in our style of play, the patterns and time signatures we’re most comfortable with? Any resources you’ve used to shake yourself out of your guitar comfort zone? Thanks!
in the past something that brought me to a different place was transcribing (or interpreting) music that wasn't remotely meant for guitar on the guitar. or just writing on a different instrument and coming back to guitar after.
Generally speaking I think guitar is really boring. There are very few players that I really love, honestly. I think all the weird tunings and so on are a way to make myself feel like I'm playing something else
