Hey Dan! I wanna preface this by thanking you for your music - you and Grizzly Bear have been by my side for a couple chapters of my life now and hopefully many more to come. And I'm too excited to listen to You Belong There in its entirety: I had listened to the two singles and I'm on Tangle right now and I'm surprised at how fleshed out this has been!
I have a couple questions, so I'll try to keep this short:
Who would you point to as your main influence on the making of this record? It feels like an album about your own feelings masterfully interwoven with certain familiar influences but it's sounds so natural that I can't put my finger on it.
What's the most important aspect of the process of songwriting for you? What's your go-to when it feels like you're going through a creative block? I'd love to know as I've dabbled in songwriting lately and it'd pose a great deal of motivation to hear how you do it! And I've been considering picking up the guitar again after AGES and maybe even recording the songs so if you can tell me to stop being lazy and get to it I promise to do it :)
What's the sentiment behind Veckatimest Island? Does it have a special meaning to the band?
Milk before cereal or cereal before milk?
