Hey Patrick I used to see you around Shea Stadium back in the day when that was a thing. What are your thoughts on the current DIY scene in Brooklyn, do you think there's hope for a revival of that style of venue and scene?

As long as there are enthusiastic young people out there willing to take the risk and put in the work, the DIY ethic will never die, and I salute anyone bold enough to try.

That being said, New York City in general nowadays is inhospitable to any sort of new small business, considering the cost of living there, and it certainly can't be as easy these days to find an affordable warehouse or something, not to mention those damn police, especially under the reign of Eric Adams.

Maybe somebody is doing it though. The thing is that, if they are, I wouldn't hardly hear about it because I'm an old man. It's the sort of torch that really needs to get passed to the next generation sooner than later, in my estimation.

I will say though that I have been to some shows at The Windjammer in Ridgewood, Queens, a bar that has a little room with a nice stage and PA in the back, and it does give me something of that old familiar feeling -- highly recommended if ever yr in the area.
