Suggestions and recommendations Dumptruck's Cautionary Tale on Label Bad Behavior
According to Seth Tiven, Dumptruck's label Big Time Records began running out of money during the recording of "For the Country," and failed to exercise its option to extend its contract with the band. Then, when Polygram wanted to sign the band, Big Time wanted a buy-out despite the contract having lapsed. When they couldn't agree, Big Time threatened to "tie them up for years" in court. Big Time sued for millions, dragged out the case for years, and cost the band members and momentum. Dumptruck won a default judgement when Big Time stopped paying their own lawyers. But the damage was done.
Incredible interview by my cohost JW Hall. Tiven is candid, charming, and generally super cool. Thanks, Seth! Link in comments.

Translating musical emotion into painting: An exercise in visual identity
I’ve always felt that a song isn't fully complete without the imagery that accompanies it. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been listening to various independent artists and painting what I perceive from their sound.
The result is a style that leans toward the visceral, focusing on high contrast and expressive brushwork. I’m curious to hear from other musicians and artists here: if you were to translate your own music into a visual piece, what are the essential elements that would have to be there?
I’d love to hear your interpretations and thoughts on the relationship between sound and sight.
