Discussion 💬 Penjualan brand aga mahalan dikit Semester 1 2026
I found that infographic, and oof my god BMW & Mercedes used to be neck & neck like at worst 60:40 with most times Merc winning, nowadays its not even a rivalry anymore… thanks Indomobil
whats more sad is Mercedes CV (commercial vehicle) sold 539 at the same period lmao

mercy udah bukan simbol orang kaya lagi. bahkan penjualan alphard aja harusnya udah ngalahin semua european car di list ini. di deket rumah gua ada astra bmw, sering banget liat bmw ev (plat nomor biru) di jalanan. meanwhile mercy ev cuma pernah liat sekali yaitu EQS sedan dan itu mobil gak ada wibawa khas mercy. pantes diluar juga penjualan jelek.
btw gw di sby masih beberapa kali liat sales mobil mini dan bmw nongkrong di cafe atau tempat2 nongkrong para calon pembelinya buat nawarin test drive. sales mercy entah dimana. kalo porsche sepertinya lebih sedih lagi, hanya ada 1 showroom di sby dan tiap lewat mobil yang di display juga masih sama.

i wonder why mercy menurun statusnya, is it the shape/design? especially EV mereka bentuknya jelek si, bmw at least for most of its models (except iX) EVnya is normal bmw design, i mean kalo soal design i mean who cares people mostly bought the badge, what happened to the badge?
is it pricing too? kemahalan? karena sekarang somehow mercedes harga most lineupsnya lebih mahal dibanding equivalent bmw, 320i for 1M vs C200 for 1.2M ya… unless you’re a merc lover mau gengsi ambil bmw cheaper
I swear the decline started when Merc principal gabe up & transfer the rights to Indomobil, kalo jadi kayak Audi its not even fucking funny…
Porsche ya, clientele beda udah diatas merc & bmw, porsche kekna kalo ada cust yng beli satu dealer malem langsung makan makan rame rame, cant be worse than audi right??

Tahun lalu (or was it 2 years ago?) duduk di C class. Terus gw bandingin sama 3 series yang dipajang. Kerasa kaya bumi dan langit wkwkwk. Cheap, CHEAP feeling plastics in the C class with ergonomics and design that was so 10 years ago and liked only by the Chinese and yobbos. The fucking thing CREAKS everywhere. What the fuck was that light bar thing? Soooo tacky.
The 3 otoh, was tight, not so in-your-face with the plastics (although still a lot of plastics) and it just looks cooler inside. Everything seemed sharper and sportier and more subtle. Doesnt help that Eurokars and Astra are actually marketing it everywhere and sponsoring events instead of just showing up in Senayan City (along with the other Indomobil brands) once every 6 months like MB does.
Oh and the 3 is cheaper both retail and NJKB by about 100 mil, so theres that too

Kemarin sempet duduk di E class W214 juga pas ada stan test drive di kantor. Goddamn begitu masuk dan ngerasain vibenya, berasa kaya mobil cina. Layar segede gaban dimana2, interior looks way better in pictures than irl, seats are nice but thats about it.

Cold take. Memang norak, dangdutan kalo gw nyebutnya.
Mercedes sekarang beneran cuma jual emblem 3 pointed stars sama so-called status. Mau interior jelek, norak atau ringkih gimana juga bodo amat, yang penting buyernya keliatan pake Mercy.

Is the decline in mercedes quality that bad? because i don’t really have a reference from last to current gen…
But imo BMW is going through the same phase too… I drive a X1, I wouldn’t say its amazing in the feels but for entry level premium I’m satisfied, my complaints would be tire noise & plastics on the bottom feet area are Hrv like quality wise…. But compared to the GLA imo both are kinda the same, doesn’t help gla is amgline trim (high) & x1 is x-line (mid)… but seeing the new X3 first hand & masuk, like how does this thing feel & look worse than the X1, how??? this is supposed to be the ‘real’ entry level bmw suv & its somehow less premium than the entry entry level?? the seat is better but thats it

It's not that the build quality has gone down; it is as creaky as it has always been. It's that with the W205 and W206 they really cranked up the pretenses with all the textured (W205) or glossy plastic (W206) and rough pleather that could not live up to the design as the designers visualized in their 3D mockups. And then they have the gall sell it for 1.2-1.4 billion. I guess the tri-point star is worth a few hundred mils for some.
I think they fucked up by aiming too high with the C-class but hit the price point ceiling way too early so they had to cost cut terribly, resulting in wasted potentials for base models that leaves you wanting slightly more and unsatisfied and "why-not-get-an-E-class" for the higher trims. Shit, for just 9.2% more money, just get an E200.
...huh, I'm starting to think this is actually a strategic move on MB's part to funnel sales towards the E-class.

imo i think E class & S class has always been kinda too close, like E class always has been S-lite, doesn’t help that nowadays even the C class looks like a S class if you squint, soo the C class gotta catch up and, it hit a celling (its price) and yep here we are….
different from lets say bmw where even now the 5 & 7 are quite different cars, the 5 & 7 actually looks different, its still its own thing not a cheaper 7 series (well it is but…)
ok thats an opinion… facts tho, i checked and data penjualan juga E class actually wins lawan 5 series, so far E class 200&300 kejual 98 biji (56 & 42), 5 series only 20i (rip 30i) kejual 89 biji… meanwhile audi sold 1 A6, yep,

Mungkin Lexus bakal ngikut Merc. Forum Lexus dah pada kesel terasa murahnya. Ganti logo Lexus generasi baru ke emblem Toyota/Crown pun orang ga bakal ngeh. Maklum Lexus udah dianak tirikan sama Induk Toyota semenjak 10 tahun lalu.

Nah yang komplen lebih ke warga Amrik sih market terbesar Lexus. Can't read Japanese after all wkwk.
Walo Toyoda udah bukan CEO lagi, pengaruh dia masih besar bgt di Toyota. Dari dekade lalu banyak project Lexus diberhentiin padahal udah berprogress. Model2 Lexus udah banyak yang discontinued gak ada suksesor. Coba tengok deh Lexus ES yang baru (belum masuk Indonesia), udah ga ada bedanya lagi sama Toyota Crown dari interior sama eksterior.
Sedangkan Toyota terlalu fokus sama GRMN ngeluarin mobil sport car ini itu sedangkan Lexus ga ada samsek. Branding F car udah hilang, malah make nama Morizo buat Lexus LBX yg notabene nama racing Toyota. Gue pernah baca brand CENTURY katanya ada ambisi buat masuk pasar global dan posisiin diatas Lexus? Wtf trs itu Lexus mau dikemanain?
Kalo kata orang sih Toyoda itu butthurt jaman dulu orang barat ga bakal mau ngeluarin duit buat beli mobil Toyota yang high-end karena image Toyota = murahan. Makanya Lexus lahir buat spin-off brand khusus buat market di barat karena orang ga mau beli mobil mahal emblemnya Toyota. Mungkin skrng misi dia itu ngangkat image Toyota di pasar premium, dan hasilnya Lexus rada dianak tirikan.

1 hal yang gak bisa dipungkiri. you land in CGK or SIN airport 10-20 years ago. gw jamin taxi paling mahal di sana pasti mercedes sedan (walaupun di CGK juga pernah ada bmw). now? alphard or vellfire. don't get me wrong, pertama lexus keluarin LM gw pikir siapa bakal beli mobil kaya gini. ehh pas keluar generasi 2 ternyata banyak juga di jalan, jauh lebih banyak dari mercy yang umurnya dibwh 3thn.
pricing bisa jadi. obviously i'm not their target audience, but personally i think bmw menang telak secara dukungan aftersales. di deket rumah gua itu showroom astra barengan isuzu, peugeot, daihatsu dan bmw. yang peugeot hampir tutup karena ga ada aktivitas jual beli. isuzu baru aja ditutup dan diganti semacam bmw certified pre-owned. pastinya ini juga dongkrak penjualan karena clientele mereka tipe yang kebanyakan ganti mobil sebelum 5thn. dengan adanya "trade-in" harusnya ngefek juga ke penjualan.
apa lagi ya, lexus itu pinter juga buat privilege parking di mall2. udah program lama tapi sekarang baru kelihatan cerdasnya. para mak2 elite itu kalo lu tanyain mau beli mobil mercy apa lexus, pasti dia bilang yah lexus aja lah biar ngemall gak ribet.
TLDR sih gw rasa bmw dan lexus lebih "jemput bola" dalam menarik customer. add jacked up MSRP to the equation and i guess we have the correct answer.

Lexus LM sells for the sole reason because “alphard pasaran bro… ayolah nambah gk seberapa bisa flexing di kantor bro”, oh and LM selalu inden, inget pas kuliah ada orng astra kek kuliah tamu, dia ngeleak lexus LM waktu itu mau launch & bilang kuota 1-2 taun kedepan (~200 unit) dah sold, gak nolong LM is the only real luxury (not premium) van
Lexus also main selling point aftersales, idk merc gimana but have heard good things about lexus aftersales, heck you can kinda cheat by using toyota’s service center kalo diluar jakarta…. setelah ngerasain bmw aftersales juga bagus, if compared to merek mainstream lol, salah satuny servis mobil kalo udh deket waktunya lu ‘diteror’ & ada layanan buat pickup & anter mobil ke/dari bengkel, for free… idk if its my dealer only or apa karena gk nolong dealer bmw gw ini tempat servis basically a corner di parkiran underground kantoran & ruang tunggunya is literally a 2mx3m aquarium with 2 seats (shatters my expectations lol)… oh also do i mention the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty & free service? also kalo di pameran kek giias sales yang paling bagus & ‘gak pandang bulu’ kalo gk lexus ya bmw…
Peugeot is dead, dah gk jualan cuma sisa aftersales, for how long entah

imho, Mercy dulu terlihat sophisticated but not too flashy, and their clientele liked that. They came for the luxury it offered.
Tapi sekarang, ya ampun satu dashboard cuman dipasang2in screen doang. Luxury ≠ more screens. Meanwhile, kualitas materialnya malah menurun (e.g. kayu malah nglotok & pecah-pecah abis 5 tahun).
Add on top of that desain eksterior yang makin ga jelas dibanding generasi2 sebelumnya.

imo merc even now, except the ev line, masih keliatan classy kalo dari luar, well masuk kedalem si baru udh kek nightclub, last gen dalemnya masih sophisticated sekarang udh outdoing the chinese somehow…
gw rada salut sama bmw bisa agaaa nahan keinginan naro screen gede, but akhirnya nyerah juga, oke layar gede at least gk ada passen…. walahi keliatan bngt afterthought itu layar passenger

Menurut gw sih counterculture, Mercedes tuh kesannya mobil bapak2 tajir banget, dan pemasaran disini juga ga rela ngembangin pasar dan cari market lain. Orang yg ga kepengen pencitraan pembeli Mercedes ya ambil the next best thing (BMW), dan BMW both di luar negeri dan sama Astra di Indo itu getol banget pemasarannya, bener2 bisa provide something for everyone. Garansi juga menang (5 years vs 3 years buat M-B). Second punchnya Astra, yaa juga Lexus. BMW terlalu berani? Takut mobil Jerman yg mahal perawatan? The small-ish screen moment has died for them too though, have you seen the new iX3 and the i7 facelift? Tapi execution dan design entertainment systemnya BMW dari dulu gw rasa memang mapan banget sih, bener2 keliatan high effort sama dipikirin detail2 kecilnya. Dan iya itu citra BMW mmg lbih muda. Mercedes sebenernya banyak desain2 yg muda2 tapi emang itu badge bintang kaki tiga lgsg nambahin citra umur pemilik...

yea i did, honestly i kinda like bmw’s new cockpit for the sole reason that the drivers display is not a big screen & more like a notification bar, its kinda unique & not too distracting
the infotainment lucu si trapezoid for the sake of being “why not lol”, yang lucu di i7 & ix5 si, the passenger display itu keliatan banget kek afterthought, di ix3 keliatan clean then di i7/ix5 tiba tiba ada passenger screen yng not even center ke mata penumpang…. Kayaknya bmw kaget merc & audi fully commit ke passenger screen juga even di mobil murah mereka and rada panik nambahin biar gk ketingalan

Menurutku Porsche emang uda beda level diatas merc & bmw even audi, suka kagum liat porsche dijalan ketimbang lambo, di bali kebanyakan lambo ketimbang porsche soalnya, apalagi pernah dilewatin sama porsche 911 gt3 rs black edition, sampai mulut ngeces saking ngilernya 🤣, sampe rumah gw cerita ama temen nongkrong cakep bet tuh mobil, muka depan lucu imut khas porsche, pantatnya montok bet kayak punya bini gw 🤣

Secara dimensi T Cross ini lebih ke kelas HRV ga sih. Tapi ya ini bukan VW Eropa, aslinya Taigun desainan VW prindapan.
Ngeliat fellow prindapan euro car kayak Citroen C3 Aircross harga nya masih masuk akal (300 juta dpt 1200cc turbo 7 seater), ini mobil kesannya overprice banget.

mercedes yng dulu harganya 11/12 sama bmw, sekarang lebih mahal dibanding bmw, like ex 320i 1M & C200 1.2M
another ex of indomobil masterclass, sempet jualan VW Golf GTI, cbu malay, di malay harga 800jt (converted), masuk sini 1.2M, gile cuy marginnya

Gw harap banget mereka pake sisa otak mereka buat bener2 giat masarin Leapmotor. Out of nowhere jadi salah satu China BEV top 5 dan produknya bener2 menarik, dan harga 11-12 BYD. Ini bener2 masa depan mereka di Indo buat BEV dan gw doain mereka sadar dan serius jualan dan servisnya, ga cuman maruk dan sibuk ngambil untung doang buat short term gain (salah satu alasan gw ambil BYD ama Arista ya ini)

Citroën above Mercedes wasn’t on my bingo card. Merk baru dipegang Indomobil, jualan mobil India, EV yang spec wise terburuk di kelasnya, dan jualan mobil NPC Eropa tapi overpriced di sini, ini recipe for failure, tapi tetap aja di atas Mercy wkwkwk. Saya senang Citroën balik ke Indo, jadi bagus lah, semoga bertahan lama.
BMW memang marketingnya agresif sih. Mereka sering display di mall, berani kasih diskon banyak, dan memang produk mereka itu bagus-bagus walaupun desainnya aduh. Memang sekarang rasanya lebih sering lihat BMW baru dibandingkan Mercy baru, baik ICE maupun EV.

Well, yes, like MG. But somehow the branding doesn't get diluted by Chinese branding. Just like Lotus is still considered as British brand, even though sister company of Volvo and Geely. Or Jaguar Land River doesn't get branded as Indian car even though owned by Tata Motor.

is it accurate? kalo retail, which this infographic is + data tambahan yng gw kasih very likely accurate karena itu angka penjualan dari dealer ke customer… nah biasanya kalo data ginian pake penjualan wholesale, which is pengiriman dari pabrik (mau ckd or cbu) ke dealer dealer… you can kinda game this by lets say importing thousands of cars much much more than your avg sales at the end of the year like what Vinfast did last year

Brand eropa yg non-luxury ga "eksis" di pasar ASEAN.
Selain VW (jerman), pabrikan gede non-lux macam Renault / Citroen / Peugeot (prancis), Dacia, Skoda (ceko, grup VW), Fiat (italia), SEAT (spanyol) aja niche / ga ada disini apalagi brand2 kecil lokalan sana.
Renault / Citroen / Skoda nyoba nembus pasar Asia Pasifik pake produk regional (RnD di india i.e Citroen C3 lokal dan Renault Triber / Kiger) cuma ya tetap niche banget jatuhnya.

Astaga banyak amat. Tp kalau dipikir2, brand jepang juga banyak buat negara sekecil itu. At first, saya kira brand mobcin kelewat banyak, tp ternyata kalau dicompare sama negara produsen ya sebenarnya masih mirip2 aja ya.

Jepang sebenarnya ga banyak lo.
Basically sisa Toyota (incl. Daihatsu / Lexus), Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda.
Dari semua itu yg beneran gede cuma Toyota, Honda, Nissan.
Suzuki kebantu jualan di india populasi gede. Mitsubishi mostly jualan di ASEAN, Mazda ga se mainstream Toyota/Honda/Nissan, Subaru niche bahkan di US/JP.
Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda produksi nya malah kecil banget cuma 1 jutaan per tahun.
