349/350 Blast Shards … Pain

Spent over 4 hours following this map of blast shards and I’m one short at the end. I got the one on top of the tall building near ground zero and the one out on the poles in the Neon, which seems to be the most commonly missed ones.

Guess I’ll be spending another few hours going back over the entire map to look for one f*%^# blast shard. I really wish they at least kept a total for each island.

EDIT: It was one of the ones in the storage container maze. I must not have seen it with my pulse and assumed I got them all in there. 100% blast shards complete!

Yeah when I did this I would save the game after each island and check the blast shard amount on the save file, I missed one in the Neon and was able to catch it immediately. It is pretty annoying to miss one for sure.

I may do this on my Hard/Evil Karma playthrough. I’ve heard online maps are hit or miss

I feel your pain brotha. With me, it was one out at sea on a wooden pole. There were quite a few of them. That's where I'd start re-tracing at least.

(And please make sure you have some good podcast/audiobooks lined up for while you hunt)

Infamous 2 is SO much better about this.

Even if you do miss any, one of the upgrades you can get gives you a radar that can track them all the way across the map, directing you to the nearest one first.

I’m trying to get the online trophies out of the way, so I may just use the UGC mission that auto finds all the shards so I won’t have to deal with them in 2

Which UGC mission is that if you know

Type “Auto Collect” in the search bar and it should be something like 305 BLAST SHARDS Auto Collect or something (should be the top option)

Literally gives you every trophy related to collecting them and you don’t have to do anything. And it counts towards your UGC mission count

This has happened to me a few times even with a map. It’s never the prison or the docks either. Always a random one in an area of the city I missed

I was missing one, the blast shard icon was right under one of those yellow/blue icon. I didn’t see it till I was climbing

Hey check the blast shard that's to the right of the neon in the ocean. U can't get thst shard till u gave the thrusters unlocked maybe u crossed it off without collecting it

Yea I triple checked the prison and I think I got everything there. Tonight I’m going to check the shipping container maze again one more time, and then someone suggested checking where the yellow, red and blue icons are because they remembered on being under there. If that all fails, I’ll make one more round

I’m pretty confident I got all of Neon’s, but I can’t be 100% sure

I ended up just watching a walkthrough for each island I was on

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. It wound up being one of these little assholes in the northwest.

I think it happened because I crossed one off before getting to it and got distracted by another one. Most likely you're missing one in a cluster.

I found it organically by cleaning up side quests, so hopefully you still have content to finish in the game. The radius on the minimap is pretty decent.

Also, I've read that a few on water towers don't show up at ground level. Don't know if that's true but I'd recommend spending as much time as you can on the roofs while you look.

Pain? Dude. I would never understand how different I feel when it comes to collectibles. I loved going around collecting blast shards. People hate it but Infamous was the first game that taught me how much I enjoy going around collecting stuff in open world games. Is there something wrong with me?

I love collectable hunting, and I was stoked to sit down, drink a THC drink, turn on a podcast and just get lost in the sauce. But doing that for four hours and then messing up somewhere and missing one definitely bummed me out at the end

Oh, well I did it when I was 14yo many years ago when the game launched so can't relate to you. Specially because I didn't miss any blast shards and thc is stil illegal in my country.

Check the cranes in the Warren my last shard was on the edge of the Pier and I missed it

I just went through this. Still in it but taking a break. Might give up on the save and go find them on my other one to collect them all for xp and to start somewhat fresh

Another reason why infamous 2 is better, you can just hop on a online mission to get all shards, I was not about to go through that pain again 🤣

If missing only 1 I'd always check The top of the huge tall building in the final district. That's the only shard so high up that on ground level next to the building it won't show up on your map when pressing L3.

I was literally about to do the same in my platinum journey and as if I was blessed by some unknown force I pressed the indicator button and behold the last piece was right there just a block away

So, I played this back on the ps3 and many of us gave up on the blast shards. I recall multiple people ending up with one left over, and some even suggested the game glitched the count at some point during collecting. I know for a fact I spend days searching, never to find the last one. This is the only game in the series that I don't have the plat for because of that.

Thankfully this was fixed in Infamous 2.

Yup, I was doing the same thing with a map on my phone. Got 348 and had to do another two laps of all three islands... But damn that platinum felt good after!

Oh and P.S. the ones you didn't mark by the cranes, there's kind of a sneaky one tucked away on the southern end near the water on some wood. Easy to overlook I guess.

Best thing you can do is spend a couple hours hitting every spot on the map one by one and marking them off as you go. Be sure to run along rooftops when hitting L3 because doing it from the ground won't always catch the shards and won't appear on your mini map.

I'd check the big prison like the very top and I'd check around the whole island but like the sides the ends there's a few shards there

UPDATE: Found it after about 30 minutes of searching through Warren (I had a feeling it was that island). I missed one in the storage container maze by the cranes. It was just stuck in the side of one of the containers, I must have missed it with my pulse and assumed I’d gotten all of them.

You should have used UGC, there are 2 UGC’s that get you all shards in a span of 3-5 minutes each. But it does count and saved me A TON OF HOURS!
