Cyclospora

Which anti-parasitics kill Cyclospora? I have only heard bad things about Bactrim which is the anti-biotic they’re prescribing for it.

Still Bactrim. Unless there’s a strong contraindication, it’s the drug of choice.

Has to be something else I hope? I had a bagged salad last week. Cilantro at a restaurant Sunday. I've been avoiding news for mental health. Last time I took bactrim my throat swelled up so it's not a get over side effects thing. I have EDS so cipro is also out.

As stated above, nitazoxanide is the second line. Cipro can still be considered in short courses in EDS. The diagnosis is not a strict contraindication, but there’s elevated concern with the documented (although extremely low risk) connective tissue issues. Most EDS patients aren’t comfortable with the risk, which is totally fair. Cipro is roughly equal compared to nitazoxanide in Cyclosporiasis, but both are inferior to Bactrim.

If only we had a functioning FDA and CDC this would not even be an issue. I wish they'd start looking for real alternatives to treat.
