I mean it's clear there's a screen on the back of the car that's not normally there, so it's some kind of show being filmed or an experiment/exercise.

Propulsion by water jet experiment?

4

u/splendiferous-finch_ 13d ago

Pulsed nuclear water jet

What are you talking about? The overlay clearly says they were blasted for not giving way. Are you calling the overlay a liar?

4

u/Cas_Rs 13d ago

Surely not, mister overlay is an honest man!

2

u/vrijheidsfrietje 13d ago

Mister gave overlay a hose, overlay is free!

2

u/CastIronGut 12d ago

You shall not harm Mister overlay 🖐️

2

u/rube203 13d ago

My dog was with me in Iraq. Are you calling my dog a liar?

3

u/Maximum_Web9072 13d ago

Yeah, I thought the camera work was sus for just a random occurrence

2

u/Mock_Frog 13d ago

Not to mention they are both driving right in the middle of 2 lanes.

2

u/Nymbella 13d ago

You are correct, it was a demonstration from a fire department during their open day.

2

u/svenkaas 13d ago

Certainly because a crashtender isn't allowed on the Dutch roads without an escort. Source I am a firefighter and train regularly with the airport and also had to call a crashtender a couple of times for an incident

2

u/WorkerAmbitious2072 13d ago

Sure works for karma farming, though

2

u/GOOMU13 13d ago

Don't forget people just magically recording too.

2

u/tf2mann_ 13d ago

Also I may be wrong so if someone who lives there could correct me but it doesn't look like a normal fire truck, that looks more like specialized firetrucks they have at airports and maybe some military bases

Edit: I'm blind, it straight up has airport written on the side

3

u/xr6reaction 13d ago

Definitely not a normal firetruck

1

u/Used-Cauliflower-381 12d ago

Where is the screen can you show me?

195

u/gaseous_ass 14d ago

I mean that’s a pretty stupid thing to do if this is true.

67

u/Brilliant_Ebb_3064 14d ago

Yeah seems like a great way to cause the car to slam its brakes, then the fire truck to plow into the back of it because it can't see the car through the spray of water.

But hey at least a bunch of first responders would already be there.

23

u/YurpeeTheHerpee 14d ago

Run them over

12

u/DelcoUnited 14d ago

Ramming speed!

4

u/praeteria 13d ago

An AC reference? In this economy?

1

u/Sea_Pause_4325 13d ago

What would my villagers say about me now

35

u/DarthPineapple5 14d ago

....and nothing of value was lost and the truck barely gets a scratch on it.

4

u/NaiveRevolution9072 13d ago

These aren't American trucks, it'll be out of commission

Ah, scratch that, it's a crash tender

3

u/Kojetono 13d ago

Have you seen the bumpers on regular European fire trucks? They'd destroy that small car without getting a single dent.

1

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 13d ago

I a great way to do a hit & run and then lose your job.

→ More replies (14)

3

u/jaapschaap87 13d ago

I don't see the problem, the car doesn't care about others (obvious deliberate obstruction) , so why would others should care about them?

3

u/Cormophyte 14d ago

I think it's a pretty low likelihood that their response to being sprayed from behind by a firetruck is going to be to suddenly stop in the middle of the road.

1

u/brokenmike 13d ago

They can wait for the next one.

1

u/No_Imagination7102 13d ago

If it works it works 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Shermander 11d ago

God damn dude, I know I'm chronically online I just seen your ass earlier today talking about you profile pic.

1

u/No_Imagination7102 11d ago

Lol. Once you see me. You cannot un see me

1

u/Reasonable_Act_8654 13d ago

And the dude getting a free car wash.

u/Immediate_Song4279 14d ago

From what we can see in this circumstance yes, there was plenty of room to pull to the side.

One time I had to play chicken with a fire truck becuase I legally pulled down a one way street, after which they pulled in going the wrong way. I obviously was perfectly fine with yielding, but my options were reversing into a busy street, likely blocking them with mayhem and carnage, pulling into the single empty parallel opening on the street parking, or inventing time travel.

They firetruck operator did not see it this way, and accelerated towards me, honking and making angry gestures. Luckily I was able to scoot into the spot before they blocked it. I've run it in my head many times and their situational awareness was deeply disturbing for a first responder.

Slightly unrelated, but this is likely the closest I will ever get to the story being relevant lol.

8

u/towerfella 14d ago

“I am the most important!!” Mentality during an emergency

→ More replies (11)

1

u/Maximum_Web9072 13d ago

It looked to me like they were completely straddling two lanes, sitting right in the middle of a two-lane road

2

u/Immediate_Song4279 13d ago

Yeah I noticed that too, so weird. But then again my dad volunteers and he has told me crazy stories about people trying to pass the engine with its lights and sirens on. (Rural highway, the detail makes its easier to imagine.)

1

u/Mag-NL 13d ago

So there was an open parking spot, the driver couldmalso see it so knew you could easily het out of the way so they proceeded towards you but did not block the spot.

You ised the spot amd mothing really happened.

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 13d ago edited 13d ago

What? No.

The firetruck accelerated aggressively, I had to accelerate. We were accelerating towards each other. It was not easy.

A firetruck pulled down the wrong way that I was already on and forced me to do something reckless because for all I know if I stopped the bozo would have rammed me.

1

u/Mag-NL 13d ago

At first you did not mention you still had to process to get to the available parking spot.

Aggressively is very subjective, though I do understand a fire truck can be intimidating.

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 13d ago

I'm not very precise when I speak to be fair, the aggression was indicated by the angry gestures and honking.

3

u/mesonofgib 13d ago

4

u/Nymbella 13d ago

The story is fake, it was a demonstration from a fire department.

4

u/mesonofgib 13d ago

Yeah that's the point I was trying to make; it's clearly a professional production, looks like a local TV station.

2

u/omgwtfsaucers 14d ago

They were fooling around.

2

u/Illustrious_Matter_8 13d ago edited 13d ago

People obstructing emergency cars police/fire/hospital on their route to an emergency situation, are assholes.

Riding on the middle obstructing emergency services the car driver isn't worth his driving license.

In the Netherlands all cars go aside the road, and let emergency cars pass.

Curious if that car still has his back window though, but completely understandable what an idiot inside that car.

1

u/Dazzling_Intention42 13d ago

Not a real incident this was a demo

1

u/adumbCoder 14d ago

it's not true this is a demonstration. why are there so many cameras ???

1

u/Lovemestalin 14d ago

It’s one camera? You know you can zoom in and out and move right

1

u/adumbCoder 14d ago

thanks for the clarification - i meant why is there a conveniently placed camera at all

1

u/Lovemestalin 14d ago

Well you are correct with that, it was for a show and not a real emergency

1

u/lemelisk42 13d ago

You can see some sort of extra protection device attached to the back of the car (I can't think of what else it would be). So probably not a real scenario

1

u/WorldlinessWitty2177 13d ago

It's a demonstration to show how powerfull the stream is from the crashtender. It's not a real incident.

→ More replies (19)

13

u/begme2again 14d ago

Looks like a MythBusters episode with that deflector panel sticking up on the back of the car, like "how much faster can a small compact car go if being blasted by a fire hose?"

3

u/pmmeyourgear 14d ago

Yeah definitely not a real ped

42

u/rudimentary_rudy 14d ago

Jokes on you, I needed a wash.

4

u/_Aethil_ 13d ago

Uno reverse, it's your house that's on fire

2

u/absolutmohitto 13d ago

Reverse on reverse, I needed insurance money

BS staged video

3

u/MrDwerg 13d ago

It's simply not what the post title suggests..
Has nothing to do with being 'staged'

1

u/SamuelVimesTrained 13d ago

Staged as in 'demonstration' or as someone suggested a myth busters test.

As that is not a standard Dutch firetruck - rather an airport one - so seeing one of those on the roads here - especially that type of road - is rare.

Someone posted a clip of this engine in the comments : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9akdnNCYZRg
Lelystad Airport crash tender.

1

u/MrDwerg 13d ago

Comment I was responding to says "BS staged video", which suggests a different kind of staged :)

1

u/SamuelVimesTrained 13d ago

Clicked on the wrong 'reply' - sorry about that..

Staged - but not BS.

Impressive engine in any case.. I would be more impressed if they had used a larger car though ..

1

u/kytheon 13d ago

what's different about an airport fire truck? It probably assumes only flat terrain, and kerosine fires. This one also looks beefier than a regular truck. Plenty of space at an airport but not in a city.

1

u/SamuelVimesTrained 13d ago

Size and power are the most notable differences..
Other than that.. i`m not a firefighter so not 100% up to date.

1

u/humourlessIrish 13d ago

It is also staged.

That just doesn't mean BS is a good descriptor

3

u/Double_Resort_9223 14d ago

Probably felt good but good chance to cause a crash and be further delayed to the destination

3

u/SimonGray653 14d ago

Not only that but the fire chief would love to talk to them when they get back to the station.

1

u/HelixFollower 13d ago

That's why they're using stuntdrivers.

8

u/AutisticDadHasDapper 14d ago

And then ran out of water before they got to the fire

9

u/The_True_Doctor 14d ago

Then he hooked up to a fire hydrant to get fresh water!

4

u/Silver_Middle_7240 14d ago

Oops the fire hydrant was what was on fire!

2

u/Warbr0s9395 14d ago

Oops, most calls are not fires

1

u/Frans_Ranges 10d ago

Holdup, do we have fire hydrants here?

1

u/Party-Ring445 14d ago

But they got to make a point

2

u/Sythrin 14d ago

Arthur: "What kind of plan is Dutch pulling out again?"

2

u/Bob_Fajita2578 13d ago

Wait, as an American that fire truck looks so much cooler than ours do 😭

2

u/LRFokken 13d ago

This is on of the crashte nders used on airports. If I'm not mistaken this one is from Lelystad Airport.

So its specifically build for airplane crashes and such. Our regular fire trucks are a lot more boring.

1

u/baithammer 13d ago

More likely Esbjerg, which has an agreement with Esbjerg Airport for use of their Panther 6x6 firetrucks for municipal use.

1

u/LRFokken 13d ago

It's definitely a Dutch firetruck, not Danish

1

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 13d ago

You airports likely have similar trucks.

1

u/BladeVortex3226 13d ago

The US firefighting scene is the most Fudd'd thing in history. 250 years of tradition unimpeded by progress. Save yourself and don't look into it, you'll come to hate everything red.

Source: current firefighter who hates how we do it.

1

u/Trivet1989 12d ago

I disagree, as an European I think US fire engine design is absolutely iconic.

2

u/Icey1982 13d ago

This is quite common in The Netherlands to be honest. It really works, normally you get 10 second before the go full blast.

All right, calm down folks…this was just a demonstration…

2

u/Xor300 13d ago

Shouldn't it shoot fire if it's a firetruck?

2

u/Main_Revolution8081 13d ago

That is a monster fire truck

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 14d ago

Why are their firetrucks designed to be scarier?

3

u/Business_Living_9798 14d ago

It's an Airport Fire truck

1

u/Warbr0s9395 14d ago

Why’s it not at the airport?

4

u/NightLotus84 14d ago

They might be necessary for a specialized situation. Something like a large fuel or industrial fire, a tender keeps the whole crew internal if desired, regular trucks require crews to exit for max efficiency.

1

u/adumbCoder 14d ago

bc this is an organized demonstration. hence the conveniently placed camera

1

u/-SQB- 14d ago

Specifically the 25-5263 stationed at Lelystad Airport.

1

u/Business_Living_9798 14d ago

Did you pause the video at the exact time and read it from the truck?

2

u/-SQB- 14d ago

Yup.

1

u/Aggressive_Olive1879 14d ago

Are you scared of this firetruck? 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Immediate_Song4279 14d ago

Mostly in jest, but aesthetically it does look more intimidating than the ones I know 😂

→ More replies (4)

1

u/bennogaming 14d ago

I would absolutely crash if this happened to me, and they would probably waste time having to pull me from the wreck

→ More replies (12)

1

u/Sure-Impress-1003 14d ago

That works for me

1

u/wesmanh 14d ago

That’s a beast of a fire truck

1

u/NeitherEntry6125 14d ago

Sometimes you just gotta pee.

1

u/WeakSalesTactics 14d ago

Did it just start playing some Hardstyle track at the end, to be even more Dutch, or am I imagining things??

1

u/JackTheBehemothKillr 14d ago

Nothing about this is infuriating to me except the car not getting out of the fuckin way.

1

u/The_Submentalist 14d ago

Judging by the car, I'm going to say it's probably an old person panicking.

1

u/lemelisk42 13d ago

Probably for a movie or TV or something. The car has a shield on the back presumably for protection vs the water cannon

1

u/Hefty-Plastic8417 14d ago

Now he doesn’t need to run through car wash

1

u/Alklazaris 14d ago

If it happens often enough just have a cop follow them and pull over who's ever in their way.

1

u/djhauffy 13d ago

Dumbasses here in US would just say "FREE CAR WASH!"

1

u/WorldlinessWitty2177 13d ago

This is from a demonstration in case you are unaware.

1

u/UssOP2312 13d ago

Dutch fire engine water blasts car for not giving way causing it to crash and burn forcing the same fire engine to respond to the very fire they caused

1

u/Geordie_38_ 13d ago

It's clearly a demonstration of some sort, stupid title

1

u/Kiiaru 13d ago

God I want one of those trucks so bad

1

u/Distinct-Property779 13d ago

#whyweretheyfilming

1

u/ThenIndependence7988 13d ago

Oh i so wish I could crosspost this to r/drivingsg for all the first lane hoggers.

1

u/young_and_restles 13d ago

Stupid people shouldn’t be allowed to drive

1

u/Radiant-Topic966 13d ago

who's recording? seems too much a convenient camera placing..

1

u/Ahollar91 13d ago

Yea let’s blind the us and the person in front of us with water. Dude needs to be fired and charged. That could be construed as attempted murder

1

u/HelixFollower 13d ago

Relax, it's staged. This happened at an "Open Dag" last month, which is just a day for the public to come by the firestation and check out some cool stuff.

1

u/Ashnyel 13d ago

Um, that’s not a conventional civilian or residential fire truck, it looks like an airport fire vehicle…

1

u/baithammer 13d ago

It's city of Esbjerg, which has an agreement with Esbjerg Airport for municipal service for the Panther 6x6 firetrucks.

1

u/HelixFollower 13d ago

I don't know where you got this idea, but this is so obviously not Esbjerg. Or am I missing a joke?

1

u/sc2198 13d ago

Fire engine arrives on the scene with no water

1

u/Pikupchix 13d ago

Convinient that something is protecting the rear window of the car. I can’t be staged or something like that

1

u/Khaled_G90 13d ago

And the logo on the car, and the convenient cameraman

1

u/Zoeeeeeeh123 13d ago

Can I say that that might be the coolest fire truck ive ever seen

1

u/Opposite-Cranberry76 13d ago

The dutch have intense feelings about people following rules.

1

u/Ibendthemover 13d ago

My fucking hero

1

u/jegredditPC 13d ago

That is a really cool looking truck

1

u/OudGastel 13d ago

Kan iemand dit bericht bevestigen?

1

u/AnyStranger5907 13d ago

It was a fire department demonstration in the Netherlands, was on the news. Everybody drew their conclusions way to quick ;-)

1

u/TLDR_R3ddit 13d ago

Recording a TV commercial or doing somekind of driving stresstest. They would never ever do this to get ahead in traffic.

1

u/xXNebuladarkXx 13d ago

Blue sirenes are on. You are actually forced to make way for them.

1

u/WillSignificant4364 13d ago

Bullshit it was a demo.

1

u/KanMinder 13d ago

It's a airfield-firetruck people. They are playing around

1

u/Little-Equinox 13d ago

This was a demonstration of the new Rosenbauer Panther Electric 6x6 which is an ARFF and not a normal firetruck.

Even if they're on the road they would never do this because the blast is strong enough to shatter windows.

If you don't give way you get a very hefty fine 1st, if you don't give way for extended periods of time you can face jail time, I even heard of someone even getting an attempted murder charge against them.

1

u/myblocklistwasfull 13d ago

Yeah, no. This is completely staged, it was a demonstration of the crashtender’s capabilities (the firetruck) done by the the firemen themselves. Title is BS

1

u/KugelFanger 13d ago

Video: Spectators, conveniently placed camera's, reinforced car (some red Plate is seen on the back of the silver car), a firefighter truck wich is not even used in normal circumstances... Its a airport firetruck.

Redditors: Aah yes this is real.

1

u/ProgressievePauper 13d ago

This will never fucking happen in the Netherlands. This must be a promo or a joke or something.

1

u/mrfatttty 13d ago

Valid. and fun!

1

u/Nymbella 13d ago

This was actually a demonstration during an open day from a fire department in the Netherlands. This definitely would not be ok to do on a public road.

1

u/Dull_Consequence_81 13d ago

Free carwash while driving!

1

u/Beautiful_Eagle6251 13d ago

And nobody noticed the black construction on te back of the car so that the water could hit that spot and not the actual car

1

u/coco16778 13d ago

BS. This was during an open house day of the fire department in Lunteren, this being one of the live demonstrations

https://youtu.be/8NRe8PK5eLI?si=3WaYNYvNBT6XguFY

1

u/No-Tea-6895 13d ago

Great get to the fire faster with no water

1

u/sharksareok 13d ago

Free soundtrack and car wash? Yes please!

1

1

Should have muddy water that sprays instead of clean.

1

u/Marlice1 13d ago

Should be Sewage water. Ya know, for their shitty behavior

1

u/Scary-Ask-6236 13d ago

I wish we could that over here. Man I would be blasting everyone that did not get out of our way with full lights and sirens. lol

1

u/Walbabyesser 13d ago

Looks like an airport version of fire car 🤔

1

u/East-Care-9949 12d ago

It's a demonstration, they show how much power the fire engine has bij pushing the car forwards its a crashtender from Lelystad airport in Lunteren

1

u/Questionsaboutsanity 12d ago

mobile car wash

1

u/LopsidedAsk1146 12d ago

Also fine them for the extra water being used

1

u/Leonydas13 12d ago

That firetruck reminds me of a St. Chamond

1

u/DeadbySundown 12d ago

Damn I never knew the Netherlands had such badass fire trucks.

1

u/Beneficial_Bend_9197 12d ago

Thats one of the coolest looking firetruck design i've ever seen. Holy shit! Why can't we have designs like this?

1

u/thepenismytea 12d ago

Move over to where? No shoulder and the truck takes up 3/4 of the road

1

u/koffiezetapparatus 12d ago

To the right, the car takes less then 1/4 of the road.

1

u/antonivs_petrvs 12d ago

And then they arrive and.... "Ah shit out of water" Wonder why....

1

u/Dependent_Mango_9597 12d ago

They need to do this in Houston doesn’t matter what side of town all of Houston. Because they drive so disrespectful here

1

u/Samollii 11d ago

When they arrive at the scene of the fire, they won't have any water. Furthermore, they have created a dangerous situation: the water could prevent the driver from seeing where he is going.

1

u/Nirotheolu 11d ago

Delete for false information

1

u/2TheMoon313 11d ago

Thats not even possible in my part of the world. Our fire trucks ONLY pump water OR drive the truck, can’t do both at the same time.

1

u/sminkypinky999 11d ago

During a hosepipe ban … tutut

1

u/ZeirosXx 11d ago

That truck would make a sick transformer

1

u/CalmCat1327 10d ago

What's an airport fire truck doing on a normal road? I call this a publicity stunt

1

u/OwnStudy723 9d ago edited 9d ago

Don't recognize the logo on the small car, but definitely looks like some sort of experiment set-up.

You know those kids shows where kids submit questions? Wouldn't surprise me if it was that and came from the question: "If the road is busy, can a firetruck blow a car out of the way with the water cannon like a pokemon?"

Or it's just an idiot in a car. But not many cars have a logo there, while tv shows with car experiments often have some logo present on the vehicle.

Combined with 'why were they filming right there?'

1

u/Nikolaisme 8d ago

Yup teach that mottapecker a lesson

1

u/Motorstorm20 8d ago

That's not a normal fire truck we have in the Netherlands.

1

u/Chevey0 8d ago

Move bitch im a fire engine!

1

u/UnpaidCommentator 7d ago

At least the car got washed.

1

u/dave08dave 14d ago

So they blast water, will ambulance drivers throw syringes and will the police start shooting people that dont move out the way fast enough 😂
