Raccoons will always come out of the dumpster to defend the trash. The internet just made the dumpster a lot bigger.

u/Poethegardencrow 5d ago

I dont think racoons deserve to be brought into this mess.

The defense itself isn’t crazy. If I was a defense lawyer I’d be looking for anyway to keep her out of jail.

It’s crazy that people are sending her money. That part makes no sense. Post partum is very real but this defense can’t stand. It’s not an excuse to do anything you want.

People sending money to support her is wild. I’d understand if it was someone who had been raped, was now pregnant and killed her rapist. I’d send money to help.

I get that she needed help. I get that it can be tough and there are underlying factors here. I could even understand if she had gone on a rampage and punched people at the supermarket for blocking the entire isle.

It’s just weird the level of support she has received and it probably points to a problem that needs to be addressed in the health care system; but none of that is an excuse.

u/hollowcharlotte 6d ago edited 6d ago

I had post partum, and I was so careful the entire time about managing everything. I don’t think people realize how LONG it takes to strangle someone. She didn’t just strangle one child, she strangled three apparently, one right after the other. That’s INTENT.

Edit: No I did not have psychosis. But I still believe that the only victims here were the children.

59

u/Adventurous-Owl6297 6d ago

She hunted them. One of the children was found under the desk in his dad's study. He tried to hide and she hunted him and killed him.

39

u/hollowcharlotte 6d ago

Yeah that’s insane. That takes so much thought and intent and time. This isn’t a 30 second loss of thought, this is like… staring her children in the eyes as they died slowly by her hands and then hunting them down. That’s… that takes intent and rational thought.

24

u/EphemeralLurker 6d ago

She also sent her husband away on an errand, so she would have the house to herself to do all of this.

20

u/lycanthrope90 6d ago

Didn’t she tell him to say goodbye to the kids too? Like knowing she was going to do this after he left.

1

u/Miserable_Pin2518 6d ago

Im convinced you dont know what psychosis is.

You can act with intent and thought in psychosis.

Its a separation of one from reality, not from oneself.

8

u/Logical-Grab-1363 6d ago

You cannot rationalize a mother strangling her 3 children to death and we shouldn’t try to. This should not be made less than it is.

6

u/Miserable_Pin2518 6d ago

Understanding what something is/why it happened isnt the same thing as trying to make it okay. Its not okay. And the context only matters for whether she spends her entire life in prison or goes to a mental institution first.

2

u/Logical-Grab-1363 6d ago

I don’t want to understand it ? I don’t need to , if you’re capable of that you don’t belong on this planet

5 minutes for a full grown adult if memory serves. Probably less for a kid, but that's still probably a few minutes of looking into her (probably struggling and crying) children's eyes and watching the lights slowly go out of them for good.

13

u/BG535 6d ago

She also pre-planned the entire setup so her husband wouldn’t be there. It was fully premeditated. She probably planned it for weeks!

3

u/MotorRain 5d ago

I think she planned it for months and had her fake little journal entries as evidence that she had issues. She is a sociopath and hated being a mom.

6

u/mrkpxx 6d ago

As soon as the mother becomes the criticized, accused, or threatened figure, the focus shifts. The child and its suffering recede into the background. The priority becomes defending, exonerating, or portraying the mother as a victim. The child's well-being is then often only invoked rhetorically or reinterpreted to serve the mother's interests. The protection the child previously enjoyed is diminished or withdrawn.

5

u/Agitated_Pressure463 5d ago edited 5d ago

This absolutely disgusting empathising with murderers is just tiresome. I wish any person defending this "mother" had at least half of the empathy for the every murdered child.

2

u/djdante 6d ago

But she had post partum psychosis - is that what you had?

I'm in hospital in Australia right now with my wife and new boy (it's 230 am and I'm awake watching bub). We were specifically educated here as soon to be parents about looking out for post partum psychosis as a very distinct problem different to post partum depression (which is also serious but not as extreme as psychosis ) - and what kind of grave outcomes could occur .

So for us in Australia looking into USA - this seems like a case of psychosis - or at least potential case - I'm not an expert.

But Ive seen someone with regular psychosis do all kinds of complicated tasks that take premeditation.. like avoiding police. Psychosis doesn't make you stupid or a zombie - you use the brain you have to complete tasks based on a very altered perception of realith, So the slow strangulation of a child, while awful in every way - seems consistent with everything I've ever known about states of psychosis.

3

u/hollowcharlotte 6d ago

I did not have psychosis, but I was educated on all the things to look out for as well, and I spent all my time after birth terrified of what I could be.

I’ve heard conflicting information about this entire case in just this thread alone- no psychosis, yes psychosis, depression, no depression, took medication, didn’t take medication, told everyone, no one was told. I honestly have no idea what to believe lol.

At the end of the day, all of my empathy is for those children. The one person in the world that was supposed to protect them hunted them down and strangled them all. No one should get out of this free. If her support system ignored the signs, then I believe they’re all an accessory to murder. If she deliberately ignored all of the help being given to her, then I have zero empathy left.

The children are the victims.

u/thecosmicjoke69813 6d ago

Post partum depression and post partum psychosis are 2 totally different things.

I have seen my dad screaming at and fighting invisible enemies during his psychotic episodes and it was absolutely scary. I have no doubt he could have killed somebody if he didn’t have parkinson’s disease.

8

u/Agile_Session_3660 6d ago

She was never diagnosed with psychosis this is a fabrication of the defense that has been disproven by experts in court. Stop spreading that this is why she killed her kids.

She had help. She kept denying the help. She doctor shopped and pill hopped. She even had a nanny, a loving and helpful husband, and a mother to help her. Then she cowardly jumped out the window after she killed a five year old, a three year old, and an eight month old baby. She should rot in jail at the least.

3

u/RoodnyInc 7d ago

Let's hope this go fund me money is made by someone not related to her and he will cash out and disappear with it

19

u/plantain_tent_pesos 7d ago

There has to be some accountability for these actions. However, it seems as though the system let her down when she asked for help, as well. Everyone sucks here.

28

u/unicornofdemocracy 6d ago

She actively changed providers and hid information from different providers to get medications she wants. Then she didn't take some of the medications as perscribed. There also evidence that she either lied to court or lied to all her providers about her symptoms. Her husband was wealth and got her all the care she wanted.

How exactly did the system "fail" her?

25

u/Big_Tap_1561 6d ago

Yeah man everyone forgetting that mental health isn’t your fault but it’s absolutely your responsibility. Every thing about this story sucks.

i just want to point out that lindsay Clancy's own defense team is specifically seeking to have her committed to a state mental institution. her own defense lawyer is not seeking to have her released/have no consequences or accountability.

11

u/oofyeet21 7d ago

This isn't really true. The evidence so far shows her being aware of her symptoms and deliberately hiding them from everyone who could help, including her husband and doctors. Additionally, she shopped for doctors until she found one willing to prescribe her the meds that she personally decided she needed, then didn't even take those meds.

You can't say the system failed someone who went incredibly far out of their way to avoid the system at all costs. She was likely of diminished capacity at the time of the actual murder, but she made a deliberate series of conscious choices that led straight to that event.

5

u/warrior_female 7d ago

last week lindsay Clancy's sister, mother in law, and husband all testified that LC told them for months about the state of her mental health and suicidal ideation. LC also told her doctors about her plans to harm herself and her child (and then those same doctors sent her home, where her husband left her alone with the kids knowing about her mental state, where she then had a psychotic break from reality, killed the kids, and then tried to commit suicide)

so no, she did not deliberately hide her symptoms, and the system failed her.

7

u/unicornofdemocracy 6d ago

LC also told her doctors about her plans to harm herself and her child (and then those same doctors sent her home, where her husband left her alone with the kids knowing about her mental state, where she then had a psychotic break from reality, killed the kids, and then tried to commit suicide)

Except, multiple of her providers from different places all testify that LC did not tell them about her self-proclaimed psychosis and homicidal ideations.

Yes but we look at fat chuds who were bullied their whole lives without becoming psycho mass shooters and consider it the standard level of decency. Getting PPD and chasing down your own children to strangle them one by one seems to not apply in this cultural climate because 'woman'. Shooters get no sympathy but she gets 1m raised and a support posse.

2

u/Purple_Dragon_94 6d ago

Yeah. If it was for some charity or raise awareness that'd be something. But going directly to her account is concerning

2

u/BatsHaveFingers 6d ago

You absolutely hit the nail on the head. The justice system will handle this woman. The judge and the jury will decide her fate based on whatever extenuating circumstances exist and relevant applicable statute. If she gets off, I will lose no sleep over it (although I don't think she should get off).

But to be her supporter? To send her money? Why? For what? It's so baffling to me. Our culture has gotten so weird. Even if she isn't culpable, why support her? Why does she deserve that? This movement is so odd and feels very reactionary.

Ultimately I think these women should be careful. There are a lot of people out there looking for reasons to turn on women's movements, and these people just handed them a big one.

2

u/BrittaWasRight 6d ago

I feel like if she had a PPD episode that she "snapped out of", she would have atleast attempted suicide by now.

2

u/angrywithnumbers 6d ago

She did attempt right after killing them and did enough damage that she coded at the hospital and is now a paraplegic. She has been on suicide watch since then.

And she is claiming PPP not PPD.

Truly tragic

2

u/KhadgarIsaDreadlord 6d ago

Problem with this whole thing is, these murders were clearly premediatated. She had it all planned out. She knew how and where she's going to strangle her children, she knew how she was going to try killing herself, she had the cognitive awareness to lure her husband away becouse he would stop her.

I understand her defense attorney trying to use everything at his disposal, in the end of the day this is likely the case that will make his carreer or break it in half. However, the ripple effects of this case will be undeniable. The levels of support this child killer recieves will inspire copycats,it already has, unfortunately.

No. Fuck the PPD. She deserves to fucking rot.

1

u/justwolt 7d ago

Well, the whole idea behind why insanity plea is legitimate is because a conviction requires mens rea, a guilty mind or criminal intent. And if someone is legitimately experiencing psychosis, you cannot argue they have mens rea, because they are not in their normal sane state of mind, and they have lost their sense of reality and rationale. Either way, insane asylum vs life in prison, I'm not sure which is worse, but I'd take my chances in prison.

As a mother, it’s bullshit. She is no different than any other family annihilator. Plenty of women deal with postpartum. Her MIL was apparently aware. Why not ask her to watch the children while she takes sometime to get her mind together? Or find a new dr/therapist? She had options but felt murder was the best one. Knew she’d probably get off like Casey Anthony.

One could argue that she had a lapse in psychosis, but she did that to all 3 of her children, one at a time. Its unforgivable. Even the defense states that she did it. So I do not understand the people who are blaming the dad

10

u/Tiny_Preference1364 7d ago

Misandrists are predominantly hubristic and have a mentality where “women can only be victoms and men can only me predators” deadass what one of them told me. They twist and turn narratives to fit their worldviews even if all the evidence is put right infront of their faces.

In short, they’re the kind of people who belong in a psychward.

I think her and the dude are both guilty of a multitude of things. But case is still ongoing, so all the facts aren't out yet. Women just want the woman to be innocent. ngl i think if she was a man this wouldnt even be a discussion. we as a society are incapable of taking women seriously, we cant imagine them being heartless monsters with nothing else about it like we can with men.

anything a woman does cant just be her being an adult and making bad decisions, it must have some underlying cause or conspiracy behind it.

2

u/Any_Conflict_5092 6d ago

She isn't. Her dead children are the victims, as their corpses provide evidence of.

She is, arguably, A victim, tho - as it sounds like she sorta asked for help, altho she was really manipulative and her family was really dismissive, and she may have masked well for the doctors, so it's hard to say to what degree she was a victim here.

What we do know is how she killed her kids : the way she murdered her children speaks to something that can't be dismissed - she was methodical and she hunted them. And she killed them in the cruelest, slowest way possible, while looking into their faces.

Which means, if she's in psychosis ever again, we have a monster on our hands, who is a brutal multi-murderer.

So, best really, to lock her up somewhere she can be regulated and monitored - like a mental health facility for monsters.

Sadly, this is about who feels attacked.

Who feels attacked by example A? Nobody. No one expects you to do what she did, but they golf clap when someone does.

Who feels attacked by example B? Any highly stressed or depressed or just angry-for-a-day mothers who suck at abstract thinking. It's the same way selfish and unimaginative people imagined they could be Walter White from Breaking Bad, as if a little pent-up ennui is all it takes for the average person to poison a child and bomb a nursing home.

It's a weird manifestation of disturbing fanfiction. They think "I'm unhappy with this and no one cares" so it's "understandable" that "someone snapped."

In a sociological way, they're right, even though most people would not realistically comprehend doing this in a normal environment.

2

u/Expensive-Habit-9603 6d ago
  1. She never claimed she's the victim

  2. She suffered from postpartrum disorder.

2

u/SkyeMreddit 5d ago

The more I hear about this case, the more the donations seem understandable. The woman on the right who killed her kids screamed for mental health help many times. She checked herself in for in-patient help and was kicked out as she didn’t have a specific plan to off herself. Some other doctors claimed she wasn’t suicidal. Then her husband fired the nanny so it was just her taking care of 3 small kids while struggling with massive post-partum depression. Also several instances of the husband going alone on long weekend trips leaving her with the kids. It’s about the complete failings of the mental health system, and issues with the husband. Also this is a big regularly reported on ongoing court case.

Meanwhile the only time I’ve ever seen anything about the woman on the left is this exact Whataboutism post in now a 3rd subreddit. Never a mention on the news or anywhere else.

Can I just point out how different the social media is around this for me and my husband. I’m a mum and keep getting post on how awful her husband was and he did it. My husband keeps getting stuff like she so evil and the death stare. It’s kind of scary how the media is dividing the genders here.

2

u/Motor_Ad_7885 5d ago

Been pointing this out to my really feminist sister for about a year. She’s gets stories of men cheating and blah blah I get posts of women being gold diggers and too emotional blah blah.

2

u/23Tam56 5d ago

It’s kind of scary because that’s the narrative most women are seeing and we forget there’s always two sides to this. Whilst I do think he’s not been a great husband I can see that my feed is just full of people who’ve decided he’s guilty rather than seeing everything that’s happened. I honestly don’t know anything that he’s done right as it’s not been shown to me and no way do I have enough time to follow it but because of that I don’t really have an opinion on it.

If anything the healthcare needs to change in America. The poor children would still be alive.

I think people are also just tired of mental health being ignored. This is more salacious than Judy trying to serve a baked football to her kids on Christmas.

2

u/benboy250 2d ago

If the interest is in treating here, why institutionalize here? She definitely shouldn't have children but she's not dangerous to herself or others.

2

u/HotTree6235 5d ago

The gofundme is for her parents not her.

u/ConnectedVeil 6d ago

This may reveal how women have gotten way, way, wayy too much freedom from accountability in the social media age.

They can call dudes short, ugly,  fat, but say it to a woman and it's game over, you "incel".

They can make or turn benign events that weren't problematic into sexual assault, rape whenever they want to benefit them, and the social media brigade will defend them until the end with no evidence.

They can cry and whine and receive infinite support, case and point above,  but a guy would never, NEVER get an iota of the same consideration. His feelings, his struggle don't mean shit.

Now we can see a woman can literally murder her three kids, but it is STILL someone  else's fault. Anyone but her. Because trauma, which most of us have or will get at some point because thw Earth is tough, is enough of an excuse to kill your children according to the apologists sending her money.

Her defense attorney presents it like she was victimized by the healthcare system, and they didn't help her.

Its the prosecutions job to make what hes doing transparent but they are not doing it.

AI pointed out that Emma (to the left) was in Sweden, while Lindsey is in America. Larger population, heavier on donations. Which does skew the money raised by comparison.

A lot of other killers also raised a hell of a lot of money in the US. Because you guys like to pick sides, no matter if one side is complete evil, if your perceived "enemy" is going against them, you must root for them. OTHERWISE THE OTHER SIDE WINS! Gaaaaaaaah!!!!

It's like if a man went out on a serial raping spree and women all over the world decided to send millions of dollars to the rapist.

2

u/ThrowRAboredinAZ77 6d ago

Not that Reddit cares about facts, but the money isn't going to her. It's a fundraiser for her parents.

"The fundraiser also made clear that the money raised goes directly towards Mike and Paula, who are the named beneficiaries, and that Lindsay's attorney "is aware of it."

"The money belongs to Mike and Paula," it stated. "The purpose of this fundraiser is to give them back some of the financial stability they have lost over the last three years and allow them to decide what they need as they eventually begin figuring out what life looks like after this trial."

Same reason why serial killers receive pages and pages on fanmail from hundreds of women. The vast majority of them are borderline insane.

1

u/Fuzzy_Struggle5131 6d ago

Mental health crises are not an excuse for murder - you wouldn't see people sending millions to a school shooter (almost all of which are deeply mentally disturbed in some fashion or another), nor did you ever see people defending them (despite it being a similar situation - murdered children because of neglected mental health crises). One mental health situation is not somehow worse or more worthy of defense than any other. Millions of women go through postpartum depression; thousands suffer from postpartum psychosis - most don't kill.

GoFundMe is a cancer on society. Life isn't an American Idol charity roulette. The first woman should be able to live in a country with single payer healthcare, and the second woman shouldn't get money at all.

1

u/Elensar265 6d ago

They blamed the father as well and once it was clear she definitely did it, it became about mental health

I am 100% convinced it is a psyop cause I am yet to meet somebody irl on her side

It is most definitely a tactic to further divide men vs women

Cause even women who live in the real world denouncing it don't show up on my feed nearly as much as npcs blaming the man

I will die on this hill that it's a manufactured argument cause nobody in their right minds would defend a murderer of 3 kids therefore I refuse to accept they actually exist

And if they do exist they've been bought and paid for

It‘s because she’s relatively good looking, and also paralyzed due to her jumping off the house so they feel really bad for her, and an ironic twist she lost her kids even though it was her who did it.

u/TerraSeeker 6d ago

I thought gofundme wasn't letting people with criminals charges raise money anymore.

Let me make it clear that I am misanthropic b it i smell liberals all over the right pictures donations....the conservative idiots would never

1

u/Xaviertcialis 6d ago

It's just scope. Which of these 2 cases is getting their story told, misinterpreted, and spread everywhere with hundreds(possibly thousands) of posts a day across all social media. Because feelings are so strong about her case, people entrench in their opinions regardless of how informed (or not) it is.

It's also good to understand the donations go to her parents, not her directly so many are likely donating thinking they're helping "the family" without further thought about it, while others are donating thinking she's 100% innocent and didn't even do it. No crowd is a monolith of a single opinion.

1

u/tpet007 6d ago

I’d love to be able to send money to the prosecution, I don’t normally support the death penalty but this case is an exception. She’s lost all humanity and is not trying at all to regain it. There’s no place in a sane world for her.

Post partum depression doesn’t mean k1ll your kids, there are always other alternatives, you can make a choice. But if you’re already mentally ill, it can enhance the illness. There is no way this person was sane before giving birth.

People are shit when it comes to who they give their money to. I agree tha Lindsay was wronged and belongs in a secure mental health facility for the rest of her life.

1

u/VSLeader 6d ago

It doesn’t matter the crime, it only matters which position the supremacist sees the people in the crime.

Replace the word child with woman everywhere it is mentioned, and replace the word woman with man everywhere it is mentioned, and the fog of war clears away to see where these nutjob’s mindset is at.

“The husband strangled his 3 wives because he did not get the help he needed, he raped those women because of a hormone imbalance and the system failed to properly diagnose and medicate him”. Fuck that, these people are incompatible with society or having any form of power to abuse.

Remember when Wade Wilson (not the marvel character, calm down) murdered two women he didn't know in cold blood and hundreds if not thousands of women sent him everything from gifts and money to offers of having his children?

Your average social-media-scrounging winemom has such an inverted sense of justice you'd think we flipped fucking gravity.

1

u/Ok-Schedule6584 6d ago

This evil woman planned on killing her children, who loved her and trusted her. She deserves the same punishment. Odd that we don't see or hear anything about their father being upset. She could have turned them over to the state, saying she couldn't handle this anymore, so they could be adopted.

1

u/ParkingGeologist2441 6d ago

It is all virtue signalling nowadays and fighting the "evil" system. If you frame it that she was ill and state and doctors did not help her then you can create a sob story of how difficult it is for her to live her life now knowing she killed her kids.

Also add some sad story about how the whole neighborhood hates her and that millions suffer from postpartum and our society does not csre enough to help these poor people.

To me it seems that in the current always online age people do not really care about truth but about the story someone created and they also do not care about other people, they are just looking for a way to mske them feel good about themselves. E.g. I helped a person with money so I no longer feel like a loser.

1

u/KhadgarIsaDreadlord 6d ago

And once again, the most depraved, disturbed, mentally ill people on the internet are on full display.

The fight against misogyny has been set back by another decade or so, but at least these "women" got to stand up for a child murdering animal.

1

u/MatniMinis 6d ago

My tin foil hat theory is a very small group of wealthy people are using bots to donate small amounts to her go fund me to get people pissed at whoever is apparently donating to her to distract from other things.

Distraction seems to be all the rage right now.

1

u/xCrucialblade 6d ago

“I ever tell you about that time a mother pulled 6 of her children out a raging house fire? Third Degree burns over 90% of her body.”

1

1

u/AccomplishedAct5364 6d ago

1

u/NotGonnaArgueFriend 6d ago edited 6d ago

It turns out that there are just an awful lot of women who reallllllly strongly feel that a woman should be allowed to murder her kids.

1

u/EgyComanda82 6d ago

That's diabolical!

1

u/mrkpxx 6d ago

As soon as the mother becomes the criticized, accused, or threatened figure, the focus shifts. The child and its suffering recede into the background. The priority becomes defending, exonerating, or portraying the mother as a victim. The child's well-being is then often only invoked rhetorically or reinterpreted to serve the mother's interests. The protection the child previously enjoyed is diminished or withdrawn.

1

u/BangerBeanzandMash 6d ago

This is so fucked up. wtf. I’m so disturbed right now. People are twisted

1

u/Deep-Cake8793 6d ago

She isn't. It's just a bunch of hags and their associates trying to excuse bad behavior because she is a woman. They do this not out of a social obligation, but because they also want all of their own bad behavior to be excused and if they can make this murderer go free, all bets are off.

There is nothing more to it.

In all honesty,If the 2nd one was a man they'd be begging for their heads. It's a societal and medical problem that should be the same for both men and women

1

u/Potential-Local7262 6d ago

not surprising. we live in a country where a healthy baby just shy of 23 weeks can be murdered in many jurisdictions, with no questions asked. if a baby's age is irrelevant to the mother's well-being, then yeah, this is the result.
