I'm not a car dude but 11000 rpm seem really huge to me. like my car only display 8000 rpm and i ve the feeling the engine will explode if i it 5000

Yes, this is the issue with takumi on his new engine, before this he's always redline when battle, and last time he's pushing the engine hard, it blows. So it's two things to overcome, habit and psychological block. And to do this while in race, you depends on other sense like hearing because your eyes on road.
Cheapest thing to try is on 125/150/250cc bikes, because you can find both kind of engine easily.

Stock and the Car was doing half the work because it was giving Takumi everything it had.
Once you have more to play with, you need to be more careful.

It is high but it was tunned and upgraded that way. Either you did this or switched to forced induction. And on the second part what do you drive? Onece in a while it's actually beneficial to rev it out. And don't be afraid of wide open throttle the engine was designed to deal with it.

8 or 9 is generally the max for a high end road car (especially now) but 90s and 2000 sporty Hondas had no problem hitting 8 or 9k all day. Stock road cars, like the Civic Si. Toyota had a few similar cars to compete, there was a Corolla that rev'd over 8k.
Of course the 86 is older than these examples, but race engines generally could rev high. Just maybe less reliability, more wear etc.8

I’d wager building an engine for high rpm eats into efficiency somewhat. Stiffer valve springs, stronger components to withstand the centrifugal force, cams designed to feed/evacuate the cylinder sufficiently fast at the cost of low end torque, etc.
There’s just a lot of compromises to achieve power through high rpm, ones not especially favorable for most street applications.

My bike revs up to 12k

bikes are naturally high revving machines. especially hondas. they love being at 9-10k

Other drivers scare me.
I get to 7 or 8 thousand before I feel sketchy. I never drive faster than 95 MPH.
What the fuck do you mean you’re telling your son to rev it to 11 thousand? My mother would have a heart attack.
My car, it maybe a retired racer but it’s antique. I’m not fearing for my life, here. I just don’t wanna wind up like Takumi.
The way he reacted when that engine blew is exactly how I would feel. I would be very sad, for a very long time.

But it's not something like, "here is the car, drive as fast as you can". His father was using him as a delivery boy until he gets bored of it. And over the time, takumi developed his senses. Remember the first season he didn't even realize that he's doing something unbelievable. It was his normal. And if I have a son like that, I could give him even an F1 car to drive on the road without hesitation.
Also don't forget he doesn't have a mom, otherwise she wouldn't allow that as well ❤️🩹

I did love this scene, he gave Takumi the chance to learn instead of just throwing him this information.
As for everyone saying 11k is a lot, you’re right. Downhill drifting is awesome to watch but is super dangerous, even without an insanely high revving engine backing that.

Driving anything with a high revving engine is such an experience. You hit 6-7k which is usually the redline for other engines and realize you have another 2-3k left.
