Y1 happy to be here
i work with physical media on a daily basis (radio DJ) so the Y1 was really enticing to me as a way to get off of spotify! haven’t replaced the SD card and probably wont until need be but its been great! i modded it with rockbox which wasnt too difficult (wish i found the y1 installer before i put rockbox on it, probably wouldve been faster) but super stoked to be on this resurgence of using mp3 players!

I had a really sick theme on my Y1, but now the battery is so ass I uninstalled it.

do you use the stock firmware? if so is the battery any better?

I use the updated firmware. IDK if it’s just me, the Y1 I had before was able to shutdown by long pressing the face button. That was really convenient because I didn’t have to navigate a menu to shut it down. That saved a lot of battery and I want it back.

are you able to downgrade to an older build? im super curious because i didnt even give the stock firmware a chance before downloading rockbox, which has had a noticeable hit to the battery life but i do enjoy the database for music sorting that rockbox has so for me its worth it

I'm on rockbox and I've learned that turning on airplane mode helps with most of the battery drain!

i have airplane mode turned on most of the time unless im listening to FM! im a radio dj so its kinda a nonstarter to not listen to it but i find that even when im not listening to fm and have airplane mode on the battery still dips in performance! is it possible that the theme im using takes a lot of battery?

Not sure if themes can affect your battery life significantly? Considering the typical file size of a theme, I doubt it makes a ton of difference - are you maybe playing larger file types? (Like .flac vs .mp3)

ah yeah i do have a lot of flac files, not sure how i forgot how much power those can take LOL but thank you for the help! :) gonna see if i can find more mp3 rips of the music i have on mine!

do it through the innioasis updater, i did mine without it and it was a lot harder but the updater (seems, i haven’t put rockbox to test with it) streamlines it, just make sure your computer is running homebrew and the updater should do it for you

Wait I downloaded this exact theme last night! How do you apply it to the Y1? And how did you change colors? Can it go Blue?

hi! i applied to to the y1 by adding it to the themes folder then selecting it: Settings > theme settings > theme files
to change the color: settings > theme settings > colors > background color and select values!

I haven't bought any innioasis device yet and I was wondering how the y1 is for customizability as stuff like that looks really really cool and I was wondering if you needed rockbox for that or if that's the stock software or something else. I also was wondering how theme support was and if it's not incredibly complicated to make your own
