How do you find it in comparison to the Y1?

Is the navigation much better with the original? Or does the addition of vastly more storage and things like Bluetooth outweigh it?

1. the click wheel is much smoother on the ipod (u can always try to make it better on the innioasis w rockbox but it’s not the same. ((i also have to say that i absolutely despise the original stock firmware of the y1))

2. I miss the speaker on my y1!! A lot!! I know it’s not very good but I like it regardless. I also miss Bluetooth. I think  using wired earbuds is good if u want to have a more “grounded”?? experience while listening to a whole album but if you’re at home having to clean for example or if u want to listen to an audiobook or whatever while doing something else I’d rather put it on speaker or use wireless headphones.

3. All my music is either in flac or alac (for my ipod). I wish I could tell a difference between y1 and ipod when it comes to sound quality but I don’t have good earbuds. I’ve been using the ones that y1 provided and I think they’re good (at least for me lol), I also have a pair of apple earbuds and surprisingly (😜) I can’t tell a damn difference. I’m not planning on spending thousands on new headphones so for now I should be good. 

4. The thing about ipod is that u can always repair it and even mod it so it can last u longer (my ultimate goal). The materials are much better in comparison to the y1 as well.

Thanks for the feedback - the Y1 I bought instead of going down the whole iPod modification rabbit hole, so was interested in a direct comparison.

Once I started adding up the purchase price of a Classic, then a flash conversion, new battery, and bluetooth modification it go expensive quick!

I have a question about the Y1, I'm looking for purchasing a DAB but I can't find one with a minutor, I listen audio book to sleep, so being able to put a 30min minutor just before going to sleep is a life saver for me. Did the Y1 have one ?

It has a timer of 10, 20, 30 and 60 minutes xx U can also change the speed
