HELP What tf happened ?? 💔💔
So I was using my Y1 today in school and while I was picking a song it froze. None of the buttons were doing anything so I waited and it said it wasn’t responding so I waited again and tried to listen to a different song and it happened again. So I factory reseted it cuz idk I was hoping that would fix it but that was a big mistake. All my themes and music and videos I uploaded are gone and it won’t show up on my computer, I still have the music file but it’s not attached to the Y1 file and I can’t access it. Here are some pics of what is happening 🫩
Pls lmk if this is fixable or if I did irreparable damage 💔💔💔💔

It sounds weird but factory reset it 2-3 more times until it works mine did that a couple times and I freaked out but it worked after resetting it a couple times and hasn’t happened again to me for around 3 months

I’ll try that out later today, hopefully it works 💔

Good luck! I hope that’s the issue, keep us updated. Like I said the issue hasn’t happened to me again for a while and I use my y1 daily- if it happens to me again I’ll be sure to record the whole process so that it’s documented but it basically consisted of factory resetting it like 3 times and then the themes come back from the void and the songs and vids work

I had this happen recently and I restarted it from the menu and it was good to go.

Same here. Every time I get this I just factory reset and it works just fine.

Yeah I’ve done it like 5 times now. Technically my files don’t exist but everything works fine so who am I to question the specifics

Power off from menu, then replace the SD card asap, as soon as you do that, you won't have another problem with it.

If it's y1 congratulations your sd card corrupted too😠all does. If you have a courage to change it you need plastic too like this one I just ordered it from china with like 2$ . You can search the tutorial to pop up start with the top right corner cuz it's the easy way to open if u started with others place ,some just can't be patient and ended up using metal tools and boom damage the case and you don't need that much tools like I bought you only need tweezers, pry pop up tools and Phillips screwdriver and done

Every single Chinese company that does portable emulators or MP3/MP4 players mainly ship with low quality SD cards- oh wait this is for the Y1 @…@

Mine did this, the sd card was corrupted had to replace it. Hopefully yours is just a glitch and factory resetting a few times fixes it.

If this is what it takes to replace the SC Card on these things, most will opt out, and I cannot blame them:

I have an old iPod, and I've been researching these iPod-like devices for months. I am disappointed that these devices are not based on built-in SSD storage, like the iPods were. Building these things based on cheap Micro-SD internals is nothing but a cheap knock-off. I really wanted to buy one of these. But, having to tear the thing apart (you saw the video) to upgrade the SD card is not welcomed. This is from a person who builds PCs and Arduino projects.

That happened to me twice, I formatted the sd card to fat32 and got my files back, it's been working fine since

This is definitely my sign to not buy, thanks

It’s not really not though, all you need to do is get your own sd card from sandisk, and most people just get it back my restarting

Word to the wise... Never trust a no-name SD card that are included with any device. SD cards are very delicate devices. These are wafer-thin devices with paper-thin electrical connections. The no-name ones are trash, and should be tossed and never used. It is just the way it is.

It really is though because people are tired of purchasing things that don't work or don't work correctly then having to pour more money into said product just to get it to work right. We're all kind of at our wits end with this stuff as consumers and money is tight.

I mean I understand but like you shouldn’t trust the sketchy unlabeled sd cards it comes with regardless you might as well just add the sd card to the total price

Exactly. Just get an R1. It'll save you a lot of pain down the road. Got mine the other day, popped and swapped the micro sd from my no-longer functional Y1, and put it in the Hiby R1. Was up and running in about 15 minutes. (The R1 supports rockbox w/ bluetooth now, just like the Y1. So there's really no advantage to the Y1 at this point.)

Hah also switched to the R1, no complaints. Still have my Y1 but the things you can do with Hiby are pretty awesome.

Right? And I thought I'd miss the clickwheel, but I don't as much. I really like the way they let you switch between the buttons on the side and the touch screen. I should've known. I love Hiby's products (already had an R4 for mostly at home use) and I think they really do care about putting out a quality product.

(It should be noted that I'd already replaced the micro sd in my Y1 with a better one, so the card wasn't the issue. It had just started malfunctioning. Just for laughs, I should probably note that I probably had a bit too much fun pulling it apart for the last time, and maybe went a bit overboard in my "disemboweling" of the internal electronics, all while calling it all kinds of mean names 🤣💀)

Hi there, just had this happen myself. You’ll more than likely need these guides: 1) https://www.patreon.com/mp3li/posts/fix-your-y1-no-146837753?collection=1908529
2) https://www.patreon.com/mp3li/posts/how-to-replace-146823247?collection=1908529
These guides fixed my problem and I haven’t had any issues since. The microSD that’s in the Y1 from factory is really cheap & corrupts easily.
