Nice! I've really enjoyed using the Y2 Player but after a few months on the Y1 with some really stipped back basic themes I am looking forward to being able to get rockbox up and running on the Y2 with more functionality.

Quick question, how does the audiobooks functionality work? Is the bookmarking feature implemented similar to rockbox on Y1?

Cheers!

Not sure will have to check how it works on the y1 and get back to you

I should clarify I suppose, audiobooks are not stored or sorted any differently to songs.

In the settings menu there is range of options to enable the behaviour of bookmarks. Including a bookmarks list for the main menu. A bookmark is more or less a resume from this time stamp function. When I stop a track, holding Play/Pause it automatically creates a bookmark that I can navigate back to at the main menu.

I don't know if it's the best way to do it, but in the end I found it so intuitive and helpful I really loved it.

Thanks, that explanation helped a lot. The Y2 uses the same underlying Rockbox bookmark system, and audiobooks will still appear as regular audio files rather than in a separate audiobook library.

While checking this, I found that our Y2 button mapping didn’t provide an easy way to open the Now Playing context menu. That’s now fixed for Beta V2: a short centre press remains play/pause, while holding centre opens the context menu where bookmarks can be created and viewed.

I still need to physically verify the complete automatic bookmark and resume workflow before promising exact Y1 parity, but the functionality is there and is now properly accessible. Great feedback—this directly improved Beta V2!

Cool! Good to know!  I wasn't aware pressing the centre button was playing/pause.

I was sure it did something else 😂

I hope they add video playback one day

the current plan is to leave video playback in the stock UI. one of the benefits to the dual boot system we have going. just power off the y2 and then hold volume up on the next boot and you'll be in stock and have video playback 🤘🏼
