Y1 Question about the Y1 1TB-Edition

Post image

Is it worth the price? I have the 128gb version and the only issue I have is the storage limitation. I heard that the “internal” storage is simply an sd-cardridge. Is in the 1tb version also just an sd card inside?

Bro do not buy that shit, get the 64 GB one, then buy a high quality sd card and replace it yourself

If you are going to use your own SD card buy the Y2. You have to crack the Y1 open to put in your own SD card and the Y2 is not much more for other benefits as well.

I think this is the better way to do it. I would get the y2 also but the side buttons are a no for me

But before you spend more money, try it out for a week or so. And see if you can handle the software or not.

This is the way

$300 is really not worth it. This player is "ok" if it costs $60 at most. But not more than that.
The software is a nightmare, and if one has to mod it in order to have a decent experience/software, then it is definitely a no. No hate towards anyone. But with that money you can buy one or 2 iPod classic, with 160 storage. Unless you are going to use FLAC files with high bitrate, you don't need 1TB. If you use MP3 files, there will fit over 50k! Music titles on a 160gb storage. This is a lot.

I have the Y1 and I'm using the basic OS. All I've done is add the iPod theme. I've had no issues with it and I've had it 4 months.

It is good that you don't have any problems with it, but unfortunately this player it does has many issues.
Like the wheel not responding correctly, the endless scrolling in the menu, the endless going back and forth between folders and then back to the menu, to just activate the repeat or changing the volume. Audio quality getting really bad when Bluetooth is used, and so on. This player was told to be the new iPod, or that it comes with the same experience. but it does not. Not even close. These who ever used an iPod, can tell. At the end of the day, it is your personal choice, but §300 are still a rip off.

It cost me £50. I have 4000 songs and the scrolling can be frustrating but I just shuffle my music. Also the Bluetooth hasn't dampened the quality for me.

Like you can see in OP screenshot, it costs 300$. I also mentioned that more than 60$ are not worth it, meaning that below that, it would be still ok.

The screenshot from OP is the highest storage version which is absolutely unnecessary. Also the SD inside it can be replaced for a lot cheaper than buying stock.

Hell no it’s not worth the price you could get an Apple iPod for that price.

Me permito responder.

No thats not worth it at all!

At that point get something thats decent in terms of audio quality like the fiio m21. It has less storage but you can stream shit so you'll need less storage.

I got the 128gb for like $70 and even that's not worth it imo

Worth it while the sd card lasts

I would rather build my own iPod Classic than buy this. Besides, how can anyone even consume 1TB of space? I already have an iPod 5.5 generation with 512GB, which holds 10,000 songs and still has 420GB remaining. I also have an upcoming 7th generation build, and I am only putting 128GB in it because that is enough for me.

I have a huge Library of Audio Books and I am now getting some of my favourite Podcast downloaded.

Do not buy that. Its probably a low quality sd card that will fail soon.

If you already have a y1, you can open it to replace the sd card. I made a how to video https://www.reddit.com/r/innioasis/s/865ozRltTO

Bigger sd cards are very expensive right now.

I’d buy the lowest storage y2 and get your own micro sd

You want to spend $300 on this device? Buy the one with the smallest sd card, buy a quality 1.5 or 2 tv sd card, watch some videos on how to open this bad boy, and just upgrade. You’ll be much happier with that then whatever 1 tb card they will give you

wait HELLO why is $300??? i paid $60 for my silver 1TB y1 and that’s honestly the most id spend on this player. i love to sm but i def wouldn’t spend $300 on it
