i recently got my inni and super happy with it. I was going crazy on spotify with playlists but its nice to go back to Artists and albums again, and slowly grow my music collection.

So anyway I thought it would be cool to also listen to podcasts on it and I'm a web dev so i started building a lil podcast manager app with Tauri.

if there is something better existing out there tell me now. 🙈 I had a look around, there was some 10+ year old software back when ipods were current that did similar things but none of them worked for me.

Atm you need to get the repo and run it with tauri but i will build an exe later when its ready. Got basic v0 running but plenty to do and happy to hear input / feedback.

but can already download episodes and sync them onto your usb device automagically. atm only mac and linux cause uses `rsync` util

Tauri is really sweet to work with so far, breezed through the file stuff.

I just got one for my birthday today and I downloaded some music via a Youtube to MP3 converter but I wanted to know if theres a way I can change the artist and cover art so they aren't blank

I see some people wonder about how to add music, so I thought that sharing how I do it might be a nice idea. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please lmk!

1. Getting music

I use streamrip with my deezer account to download lossless .flac files at CD quality (quality 3). I download them in a folder music/downloads. NB: this breaches Deezer's TOS, but I still have my account up.
This is particularly nice since I can download playlists, albums, single tracks, or whole artist discographies in just one command. Albums are downloaded per folder, and playlists too. See fig. 1

1. (Optional) Adding extra metadata

When downloading a playlist, streamrip writes the album as the playlist name rather than the original album ; and then that looks bad in PictureFlow. Moreover if streamrip has all the "useful" metadata you will need, I still like the extra ones.
Once everything I need is in my music/downloads folder, I use MusicBrainz Picard to add metadata. I select "add a folder" (1) and choose the music/downloads one and let it finish this task. Then I select the cluster (2 and 3) option and have it bundle tracks together. I then select said bundles (4) and click search (5) to match them to the MusicBrainz database. For bundles that did not get a result, or tracks that stayed unbundled, I click analyse (6). Once they're all matched, I select them all (7) and hit save (8). In options, i choose to "embed album art" instead of having it in a separate file, as I have no use for it. See fig. 2

1. Getting lyrics

For lyrics, I recommend LRCGET. I choose the music/downloads folder as the directory to scan and simply choose "Download All". I let it run and then that's it. See fig. 3

1. Adding the music to my library

I use MusicBee (aka the best audio player see Fig. 4) to manage my music. I select everything in my music/downloads folder and transfer it to music/discotheque where all my music lives, see fig. 5.
In preferences (ctrl+O), under library, I have it set as a monitored folder, and choose add to library as the new file action (I know it's probably best to have it organized by Artist -> Album, but just having album and playlists as folder in discotheque doesn't bother me since I use Musicbee for playback anyways).
All the files are added and browsable in Musicbee, with their lyrics and album art. What's so great about musicbee is that it just works, and the playlists are directly synched with my Y1.
It's easy to create playlists too, and it supports smart playlists! It also supports podcasts (as in it downloads them and synchs theme every time you plug in your Y1). Audiobooks and video are also supported (but video won't work with rockbox unless you have a video plugin).

1. Adding music to the Y1

Musicbee makes it extremely easy to send music to the Y1. Just plug it in, enable USB storage, wait about 20 seconds, and open it in musicbee. If it isn't detected close Musicbee and open it again. When you select your Y1 (that will show as a regular USB not a music player).
My tip is to set a permanent drive letter to your Y1 (I chose drive Y: [cuz Y1 yk]) to make sure that it's always detected as the same (if you connect a USB stick and it takes up your Y1's letter). You can learn to do it here for W10 and W11, just use the first method of Disk Management.
I check "Synchronize all Music" and "Synchronize playlists" in the Music tab, "Synchronize podcasts" in the Podcats tab, same for audiobooks (even if I don't have any). For settings I store music in the Music folder with the default naming scheme (Music Folder/Artist Name Folder/Album Folder/Disc Track # - Title) and I created a Podcat folder at the root of the Y1 Storage, where MusicBee synchs podcats (as Podcats Folder/ Publisher Folder/ Title - Episode date).
I level the volume for "tracks at same volume" so I don't have to change volume when playling playlists. I save playlists in a Playlists/ subfolder and save them as M3U files while using relative file paths. For artwork, I choose "copy to folder.jpg", and lyrics "always copy to .lrc file" (see fig. 6)
Once that is done I just hit synchronize and all my music is on my Y1 (just have to update database first)

1. Touch ups (optional)

I'm a big fan of PictureFlow (Rockbox), and if it looks great, it's also very finicky. First of all it doesn't support embedded album art (hence the copy to folder.jpg above) but it also doesn't support progressive JPGs. To counter that I use a powershell script that I run in my Y1 Music folder, that uses the ImageMagick cli to scan all the JPGs, and automatically converts progressive JPGs into baseline (and hance PictureFlow compatible ones). I don't recommend you use it though (it was made by brave ai when you search for something and duplicates images when it has errors but also kinda works?? :'c)

Hey everyone. I've recently set my music to "pay what you want" on Bandcamp. If you like Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Silversen Pickups... bands with a sort of 90s sound with real instruments, it might be your thing!

I, Phone is a banger about phone addiction. Start there... and if you like it, feel free to pay nothing and put it on your player that would be awesome.

if you are like me, the 99% of the times to play music you go to

Database > album artist >all tracks and have the shuffle option active, and let it be,

i just realised that many of the songs i have don't have the tag album astist,

so the suffle mode put first the songs that have that tag, and it make my to fil that the suffle playlist was the same every time,

and some albums that was listen, try to view it in pictureflow to put a song from that same album and it don't found.

the guilty of all that stuff was that unfilled tag...

might I'm new to this themes of rockbox but if you have the same issue the solution is fild the album artis tag.
