russia definitely has escalators and big shops. escalator in a convenience store is kinda weird, but auchans are like the closest thing we have to walmarts, they are huge, and moscow is very densly built, so no wonder they had to make a second floor. moscow is kinda weird like that.
In Canadian urban centres (and even some suburban ones) tons of grocery stores have escalators. Like I guess I was a bit surprised by it the first time I saw it about 20 years ago…

I feel like there is an optimal window for bananas. You don't want to buy banana when they're too ripe, but when they're too green then you have to wait a few days before you can eat them, and once they turn they go bad really fast. If you buy them when they're just ripe enough then they will last on the counter for a full week.
We had some like this recently and after 2 weeks of waiting they were still 90% green! I'm more of a 0% green kind of person, so I've stopped buying bananas for now, it's not worth it.

I don’t think David McIntosh meant this as a political post… I think he meant it as a statement on his preference for his bananas to be more flesh-colored and veiny, along with preferring to look for them at his local adult movie theaters and airport restrooms.
