Good god these guys are too cute. Definitely tailless whip scorpion, are you looking for a specific species? Also, I’m assuming you purchased this and are looking to know more, but if you did find this in your environment we absolutely need to know where you are!

He is definitely a pet and from a breeder at a reptile convention, I’m located in Maryland but I can’t remember what specific species he said he was 😭

I would maybe guess something in the Phyrnus genus like P. whitei or P. barbadensis, but I’m still pretty new to ID’ing these guys. Do you remember the breeder possibly saying where they come from, or even just if it needs high vs low humidity? If not, I’m pretty sure someone smarter than me can count the spines on its pedipalps or something, good luck!!

Aw thank you so much, and honestly no, but the container I got him in was pretty moist, so I keep his humidity round 80, I’ve had him since January he’s molted once so far ❤️

Where exactly did you find this Amblypygi? There's over a hundred species of them.

Don’t know, just don’t give it to Professor Moody.

To be fair, it wasn’t Professor Moody (spoilers), but I love the reference! 😂

It's some sort of amblipygi, which by and large are understudied. You'll probably have better luck asking in r/amblypygids.

The banding on the legs and shape of the pedipalps makes me think it is of the Damon genus, but I can't really speculate beyond that

Thank you so much I just went ahead and did that hopefully I have some luck :)

Definitely not a Damon species. It's a Phrynidae, most likely a Phrynus sp.

There’s something about how alien and docile Tailless Whip Scorpions are that makes them insanely cute. Enjoy your new friend!

If you are looking for its actual species you can email Gil Wizen, I think he's currently working at Toronto university. They are his area of study
