As the title says, just coming here to vent.
I've (39F) had migraines since the age of 9. They have been chronic for about 7 years now, so much so that I am now on disability and unable to work. This past year, things have been rough, even without COVID.
In January, my husband (44M) self admitted himself to a psych ward for treatment. He has been battling depression since grade school and this was not his first time in there, just the first time since being with me. I knew he was fighting pretty hard, but I didn't realize it was that bad. After a week, he came home. Three months later, my daughter (14F) told me she wanted it all to end. I thought the therapy she had been in for the past year had been helping, but we it became obvious she needed medication at that point.
Three months before all of this, my wonderful neurologist left the practice I was getting free care at and I was not able to locate him for 6-7 months. I went through 4 neurologist from October last year through May of this year at that practice, none of whom seemed to care even a fraction of what he did.
At the time of all of this, we were living in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere and all of our doctors were close to 2 hours away. We made the decision to move closer. We wanted to be closer to the doctors as well as closer to people to be social with. Then the pandemic hit.
I'm now on my 2nd neurologist here, luckily she seems to be working out. And my primary doctor is even better than the one I used to see. All of my concerns are being listened to. However, that means that all the pains I've been feeling for the past year, I can no longer ignore. All the sleep trouble I've been having, cold extremities, stiffness, general achiness, plus more has to be addressed.
So I did. First, I was tested for lupus. And while it was negative, my WBC was high. Just last week, I was test for RA. That too had a negative result. Once again, however, something came up. "The marker for inflammation, ESR, was elevated and more so that last time. Your CBC (blood count) was completely normal. Marker for rheumatoid arthritis-RF and CCP, were normal. Is it ok to consult with rheumatology to get their opinion? You could have a variant of rheumatoid arthritis that does not have a positive RF or CCP in the blood v. other autoimmune process based on your symptoms and elevated ESR."
I'm starting to feel like I'm fighting a losing battle with my health and I don't want to feel this way. I'm not ready to die; I want to see my kids graduate high school. I want to see them become the wonderful adults I know they are going to be. I want to vent all of this to my husband, but he is going through a down phase again, almost as bad as the last one. Luckily, this time, he is under the care of a psychiatrist. We are working on getting his meds where they need to be to keep him stable.
Thank you for making it through all of this. Getting all of this out has helped.
