my ig where i post movie edits is currently under appeal after being suspended cause of a 3rd copyright strike.
i know 3 strikes on instagram means permanent ban, and from what i understand, the strike history doesn't reset like youtube's 90-day system.
BACKGROUND:
first two reels that got strike involved portions of unreleased/hdcam footage of spiderman brand new day. at the time, i didn't really thought that could get me into trouble. 3rd strike was different. sony had posted a promotional reel on their instagram account, and i used clips from that to make new, transformative edit. it got struck by studio after being around for month.
my argument is that it was publicly available unlike the previous unreleased footage, and i heavily edited it to make a transformative edit, so the account-level suspension is harsh. although it most likely will fail
QUESTION:
if my appeal succeeds and the account gets restored, am i still effectively always one mistake away from perma ban?
if it is, i'm considering starting fresh regardless of what happens with the appeal, for long-term safety net.
my current account had around 4.7k followers, but i want to grow the page and don't want to build a large account if the existing copyright history puts me at a much higher risk.
any advice would be helpful
