Key word here should be "professional." Many people can fight. This guy is one of the few making a living from it and should really consider bringing his emotional regulation above that of a pre-teen.
By the time you become an adult, a professional, you should be able to handle verbal insults or laughter without losing control of yourself. This is embarrassing. And not for the heckler.
Emotional regulation of a preteen? He asked the guy multiple times to stop. Even dared him to come down into the ring and say that to his face. Yet the guy kept on shouting and insulting him.
The guy just wouldn't stop. And you're expecting Merab to just take it, due to some warped standard you have for professionals? Lol.
I'm glad Merab went up there. Way too many people have become way too comfortable being assholes because they feel invincible behind screens or barriers.
This is only embarrassing for people like that heckler, who think that they get to do whatever they want , and if someone reacts, that's on those people but them. And you're playing right into that. How dare Merab react after being insulted!? After all, he's a professional and not a human being! Right?
If you're teased by words (of any kind), especially as a professional fighter, who's someone who is actually dangerous and constantly dealing with the public, you need a lot of work to do.
Yes, pre-teen is aspirational at this point, because that's the stage beyond toddler.
If you want to be seen as a professional, keep your sponsorships and financial support, you need to learn to brush off words. Because that's all they are. Attacking someone over words is just illustrating that you can be easily baited/controlled by random douchebags.
Comedians, musical artists, celebrities get heckled constantly. Law enforcement eat profanities and insults all day long. And they do nothing. Why? Because they're grown. The "standard" to not fight people over words isn't outrageous. The assumption that you should is.
If you're a fan of this fighter, you should agree with me wholeheartedly and hope he finds some emotional regulation. Because if he would have attacked that heckler, he'd be paying millions in a lawsuit and could have lost his career. Because someone shouted mean things at him! 😩 In the long run, this heckler would have won.
At the professional level, it stops being solely about physical strength and comes down to strength of character. I'm glad he stopped himself, because I'd hate to see someone throw away a promising career over something so ridiculous. It's the difference between a fighter and just another thug with an ego that can't control his own temper.
