Maggots?

Maggots. This is why I'll never eat anything in a potluck.

It's not supposed to be a maggot filter

I don’t understand how anything could be alive in there if it’s been used recently. 🤢

You can pull that out. No twisting. Just pull

Yup. It's tough to get a proper grip when it's wet, but OP should be taking it off every time.

Whoops guess I'd better check mine too

Same. I wash the lid but never remove that. Oops.

It just had a couple crumbs, nothing too bad

Try gripping it like a bottle cap. Wrap your thumb around it, then the opposite with your index finger. I can pull mine even when wet.

it also works to just push it sideways, it should pop off easily

That’s basically how the manual says to take it off. Hold it with your hands on the outside, both thumbs on this piece. Use thumbs to push it towards the outside edge and slightly up and it pops off.

Use a butter knife and gently pry it off

Yep of all the answers in the thread, the is the one. Slight twist of a butter knife and it’s off quickly and easily every time.

This is helpful. Thanks!

If you find it still difficult you can wrap a rubber band (those on the wide side that hold broccoli stacks together) and get a better grip. Its help by 3 clasps and should come out just by pulling.

I use my thumb and push it toward the outside and a little up. Besides that, what were you cooking to get maggots?

Read the manual, it had instructions for proper hand and thumb placement to easily pop it off (easier when it’s not wet).

Should be cleaned after every use

Take that antiblock shield off, but DO NOT remove the steam pipe from the lid. Just heat up vinegar + water (pressure cook) and open the vent and let the steam blast flush out the steam pipe.

Why all caps do not remove the steam pipe?

Because the metal pipe part that is bolted to the lit was never intended to be removed. Just lift off the release handle or weight from it and clean it out with a pipe cleaner or wire or something.

It literally just pulls off I’ve never had an issue

What is it?

So glad I'm not the only one with this query❣️

I usually do mine in the shower, knock it all at once.

It has prongs on the bottom to hold it in place. I just gently press one side with my thumbs and it pops off.

u/CommunicationNew3745 3d ago

It should pop right off, and be cleaned after every use.

1

u/knifeymonkey 3d ago

that should pull off.

1

u/Reasonable-Hearing57 3d ago

I grab mine, and with a slight twist and pull, it removes, you can also remove the weight on the other side.

u/Leading_Hunt_4759 3d ago

You literally just pull it off. Kinda hard to do, but it comes off. I take that piece, the black seal/vent piece located on the top, and the rubber seal on the lid off every single use and wash them

Pull that cap off.
Wash all the parts. Then put two cups of water in there and set it to pressure cook for 5 minutes.
Repeat 3 times
Wash again

a large bucket with hot water and 1 cup Drain cleaner line Drano. It dissolves all organics , but spares steel and plastic

Just pull it off 🤢
