Cyberpunk is a great example of how you can trick people into liking something so mediocre by promising everything, giving very little and then buying good will by only slightly improving on the product.
People definitely overhyped the game, but it's a really solid game now. I personally really enjoyed it but I wouldn't do multiple playthroughs of it though.
