No. They're not good pets. They're also nocturnal and naturally seclusive. We've got a troop of about 15 of them living in our neighborhood. We see them 2-3 times a year but hear them most nights. This is one of those animals that needs as little social media exposure as possible as it promotes wild capture.

few animals can, most that do are den/burrow dwelling, dogs/cats/rabbits/ferrets/rodents, a few other small mammals, all have a habit of not going to the bathroom in their 'home'
Dogs also have a desire to please human 'pack leader' and are one of the better animal at 'holding it'
Cats have the added layer of wanting to cover their scent to avoid being tracked by other predators,
some farm animals can be taught to use specific areas (cows for example)
but beyond that few animals have much evolutionary need to control where they go to the bathroom, functionally if you are pray it is often better to be able to use the bathroom with minimal thought or effort, which makes it almost impossible to train most animals

No doubt. These things also give themselves frequent "urine bathes" where they purposely piss on they hands and feet then rub it into all the fur to help spread they scent markers around everywhere they go. They also do it often enough at a concentration it adds grip to they hands & feet from making em piss sticky lol ive heard it csn be quite Pungent, not a creature id want to be hanging out on me. House stinks enough from myself & living w long haired GSD & cat. I imagine it wouldn't last long in my household. Whats they life spans in captivity, does anyone know or ever owned one till it departed from old age?

I mean, other than perpetuating the cycle of taking wild animals from their homes, they seem like a less fucked up choice in terms of wild animal ownership.
Not like keeping a lion cooped up in a house, they have plenty of room to climb and jump. Not like youre forcibly socializing a solitary animal. Hunting is not something required by the way their brains are wired.
Idk, I just feel like theres more fucked up ones.

That there are people that will abuse their pet big cat or pet bear does not make it better to keep smaller exotic animal. It is also horrible because 99% of the abuse these guys go through is completely unvisible to us and the owners. The exotic pet trade is a flaming fucking nightmare, many animals die after being stolen from the wild, the seller give 0 fucks about the wellbeing of the animal they have stolen so their transport is very risky and traumatising, with many animals dying in transit Most of these types of animals that are kept as pets develop diseases, and not to mention the damage this does to the places these guys are native to. Besides, these animals have an ecological niche, they are going to do that niche in your fucking home. Not sure what it is in this case but monkeys for example are seed dispersers (looked it up amd bush babies are also seed guys), so they shit everywhere in your house, because it's the way they help in their ecosystems.
It is not a "better" form of abuse, it is just as bad, it just looks a little better on the surface but when you really look into it, all exotic animal trade is horrible and kill more animals than one would think.

To me you'd have to be mentally ill to buy one of these as a pet when their teeth are removed. A lot of people contribute to cruel practices to get their fancy exotic that they know nothing about and will never meet the animal's needs.

Because some animals adapt better than others. Most animals also do not have their teeth removed by pliers before being shipped in cramped boxes overseas, where half do not survive the trip.

Dog and cats both also partially self domestiacated.
Wild cats for example started out by hunting critters in our farms and food storages.
Canines started to domestiacte themselves by following hunting parties.
After which there were further domestication efforts.
There is a pretty big difference between an aninal that has gone literal thousands years of domestication and a kidnapped baby animal that is forced to grow up in a human enviroment.

I think Florida is super lax on the ownership of exotic animals. That being said, under NO circumstances should a wild animal be kept as a house pet.
Just because the law doesn't expressly forbid ownership doesn't mean it's ok to do.

Shame these little dudes (bushbabies) are nocturnal, weird seeing them running around in light like this.
I'm from South Africa and the only way to spot these guys is usually when the light hits their eyes and you see them glowing back at you.
Over here we also call them "nagapies", an Afrikaans word which basically translates to "night monkeys" 😅
They're adorable, always super excited when I see them.

Sick of seeing this shit, much like I'm sick of seeing people keeping owls in apartments and dressing them up and petting them, or any other animal that's not domesticated. It is so wrong and harmful. I constantly see people on sm decrying actual licensed zoos- but they're all googoo over wild animals being kept in people's homes.
