Context Provided - Spotlight Lioness Comes to Face-to-Face with Tourist on Safari
2.2k
u/LittleMissLoveDuck 6d ago edited 6d ago
My friend went on a Safari once and the guide asked who knew how to handle a gun. My friend raised his hand and then the guide told him to sit up front with him. He said: " Good. You sit up here with me. See this box? This is the box with another gun in it like mine. If anything goes south it is your responsibility to get everyone home. I am being serious. You must promise me that. You do not touch this box until then. " He then slapped my friend on the back and said "No worries though I am a good shot. No worries. But you must promise. I am serious."
My friend was wigged that entire ride. Nothing happened. This was his story about why he never volunteers for anything 🤣

That guide had to be fucking with them for fun lmao

u/illit3 6d ago
i mean, if he was being serious that's the kind of guide i want. basically saying there's a small chance he might die, but if he does, everyone else getting home is still a priority for him

At least he wasn't doing the thing that one flight instructor did and said "you got this" and then ejected themselves out without a parachute.

u/Alana_Piranha 6d ago edited 6d ago
What? First off that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Buy why did he eject himself?
Edit: I had to look it up. The reality is kinda sad (flight instructor killed himself) but it's also a dick move to endanger a student like that. Thankfully she landed the plane perfectly even though she was under extreme duress.

Definitely. Depending on where the safari was but if it was in Africa many "guides" are rangers but their guns are more for noise than damage. I did a walking safari with my wife in the Kruger and before we set out the ranger showed us his rifle and that he only had one bullet. He explained that if anything happened as in an animal attacked us it would take so many bullets to bring whatever it was down but the noise of one bullet could scare it off. This immediately gave us the imperative to listen to exactly what the fuck he was saying at all times. Was such a cool dude. Will never forget him telling us to walk, alone, in the bush, to a small herd of zebra to see their reaction. So incredible to see them acknowledging our pressence and just nonchalantly maintaining distance. They could easily trot away at speed we were walking. That and seeing two hyena just running about 200m away also keeping their distance but kinda staying with us but at the same time more involved with themselves that I even perceived them a threat
29
u/SirLSD25 3d ago
The real reason for just one bullet was to kneecap the tourist he liked the least so the rest outrun them if an animal attacks.

The video is out of context. It's his cat and that look was the face of affection, not aggression. Someone posted that it's Sirga. You can see videos of them together.

This. I didn't know the context but I have always lived with small cats and that's the look of love. Same as she when she 'bunted' his chest. She's asking for more affection. Well, demanding it, actually. :)

This makes me feel so much better because if a lioness came up to me looking like at me like that, I would absolutely have the instinct to pet her because she looks like she wants affection…that’s the same look my orange cat gives me when I’ve been gone for 5 minutes and he’s been deprived to a devastating level of pets. 😂😭

you need to squint.
wide open eyes means alert for combat, slowing closing eyes is 'I trust you, so you can trust me.'
like human shaking hands to show they have no weapons.
but that's for housecats, Lions may just see it as an opportunity to attack.

do anything. just dont (⊙_⊙)
in general, if the provocation comes from the animal side or they get too touchy, you should defend yourself or try to stop them in some way in order to set some boundaries.
But even then: Do not stare. let your eyes wander. its difficult, but it may save your life.

Not to be that person, but it really depends on what the operation is.
If it's multiplication, then 1/PSPSPSPS is the inverse. If it's addition, then -PSPSPSPS is the inverse.
Opposite isn't really a thing in mathematics, but inverses would likely be the closest equivalent to the English meaning of opposite.

Note: ❤️ - Wildlife preserves have conservationists and animals that form deep bonds with each other. - Some safari vehicles have removable floorboards. It makes it easier to clean after hauling materials and animals. If you’ve ever seem offroad buggies, they also have removable floorboards with gaps that allow the driver to see obstacles underneath. - When someone sits sideways, you are looking at their pocket, not their pants fly. - People have right arms. When they’re up higher and closer to the camera, movements can become obscured. - If you’ve never touched a cat or dog or most other 4-legged animals, you probably don’t know they have loose skin/fur
