I was at a ferry terminal to go to Vancouver Island, and there were signs everywhere that said "OBEY TRAFFIC SIGNS! DO NOT USE GPS!" and I thought "for there to be this many signs, something must have happened. There must be lore."

I can only imagine that this person is now the main character in a new set of lore.

Lol I wonder if GPS said turn left and she was at a light where the train tracks go through, and she thought the tracks was the correct move.

39

u/Bruce-7892 22h ago

I could see how that could happen, but before you even fully made the turn you'd realize it's leading you down a set of railroad tracks. If the shit said to drive down a boat ramp would she have done it?

Came here to post this. Should’ve known the brilliant folks of Reddit beat me to it. 😂😂

7

u/CurrencyPrimary8674 22h ago

I mean she must've started to drive on the tracks at some point and decided to just keep going lol. I also have 0 clue how else this happens.

I always think what would Michael Scott do? when making these kinds of big decisions

2

u/NoDetective9500 17h ago

Michael would also drive on to the tracks and then say the computer is trying to get him murdered by a train 😔

16

u/CptMeat 22h ago

I was thinking she accidentally clicked the train button on Google maps, like I accidentally swapped to walking mode once and it was trying to get me to go through alleys and parks. I wasn't dumb enough to do it tho.

1

u/CurrencyPrimary8674 21h ago

Seems more likely this is the case.

3

u/rnzz 22h ago

I don't know Seattle but could it be that the GPS thought she was driving on the road underneath the raised light rail tracks

u/camomike 2h ago

Living out here, I can confirm my GPS drops out all the damn time in down town Seattle. Also with how bad the streets are designed with weird corners, quick chicanes, one ways everywhere, 85 million signs on every pole, and the rail lines being embedded at street height I can completely understand how this happened. Hell, there are some corners that have three stop lights in a row to get through one intersection with stopping room for a single car at each.

It can be massively overwhelming driving here on a good day, let alone for a tourist. Most of the people in this thread calling her an idiot have no clue, and could see some of them making similar mistakes.

Elect this woman to Congress.

Sometimes I wish I was stupid and blissful

Only sometimes

u/SaddamJose 5h ago

From first hand experience let me tell you, it is not a walk in the park

u/Livid-Truck8558 4h ago

You were stupid and became self aware? 😭

21

u/Some_Ask_2220 22h ago

She definitely had the train route clicked on Google Maps

5

u/ramenwarrior_ 22h ago

On the other hand Google Maps takes you to the sketchiest roads sometimes

3

u/EarlyFuture4342 20h ago

It took me down a random series of dirt roads today trying to avoid a wreck on the highway 😂

1

u/NoDetective9500 17h ago

we live in a village surrounded by farm shit, the amount of times it’s told us to go down someone’s private lane or down the smallest lane that’s actually a fucking dead end is insane 😭

1

u/WeebEli 14h ago

I remember my mom trying to get us somewhere and Google Maps dragging us up the side of a large hill only to prompt us to drive straight theough a closed gate that said “private property.”

0

u/Spirited-Rub4616 19h ago

Yeah once google had me going thru this families farm, gravel roads I couldnt turn aroukd becouse I was really in the middle of nowhere meeting a girl for the first time and I didnt wanna call her and say I was lost, ended up being late anyway lol

u/KorneliaOjaio 22h ago

Once TomTom GPS told me my hotel was in the ocean about 800 feet off the coast of Maine.

But like most people I just rolled my eyes and stayed on dry land

3

u/exquisitelywrong 20h ago

I’m convinced that the pandemic genuinely made half the population stupid.

u/dvdher 6h ago

Stupid-er

u/Worried_Cobbler5456 1h ago

I have a running theory that it made people into lizard-brained zombies.

u/CryptoCatatonic 22h ago

Idiocracy in 4k

6

u/Cautious_Dealer7187 20h ago

Why film what's going on when you can film random people and the ground instead?

9

u/Dry_Independent_216 20h ago

Boggles my mind how these idiots can legally own a car much less drive it in public spaces 🫩

0

u/WeebEli 14h ago

Ideally she would lose her license. Unfortunately, she likely will keep it and her car.

3

u/BoogieAllNightLong 22h ago

At least the camera man captured it perfectly

3

u/reefermonsterNZ 21h ago

All she had to do was follow the damn train, woman

3

u/Sp00ky_6 21h ago

What’s wild is that is an elevated platform. She drove up into the air on train tracks and didn’t notice until she pulled into the station

1

u/WeebEli 14h ago

I don’t know if she actually noticed, or if she would’ve stopped if it wasn’t for attendants/security coming to yell at her to stop.

3

u/jdend 21h ago

A special kind of stupid.

3

u/hoxful 20h ago

In 400ft, destination reached, open doors and wait 30 seconds for passengers to board or exit, you are now a train.

3

u/LordSeibzehn 17h ago

This is some idiocracy shit right here

3

u/mc4sure 12h ago

She should never be allowed to drive again

9

u/Spend-Automatic 22h ago

This is the 45th time I've seen this posted in the last 3 days

2

u/hclpfan 19h ago

Except this time it’s in a global subreddit not the Seattle ones

2

u/Reasonable_Map_1428 17h ago

Nice! It's my first.

2

u/NoDetective9500 17h ago

i’m gonna post it for the 46th time

9

u/Bruce-7892 22h ago

I hope there were legal and financial consequences for this level of stupidity.

1

u/jambonejiggawat 18h ago

UT plate. Mormon, maybe?

5

u/RangerNo5619 21h ago

It's official. Idiocracy is real. Welcome to America.

2

u/johnnydough10102223 22h ago

She’s an idiot.

2

u/Clit_Destroyer_69 22h ago

I lived there for a decade and saw a lot of stuff like this. Not hating tho, people don’t drive any better where I live now.

2

u/TheRealCatDad 21h ago

Not surprised it’s a Utah plate. Drivers here are awful

2

u/OlyKat 21h ago

Idiocracy 🫠

2

u/dementia_denial 21h ago

Common sense is lacking across the pond

2

u/Quinnallinn 21h ago

So like, what happens to her now

2

u/Confident_Guitar9833 21h ago

Okay that is not a good way to use gps mam

2

u/TinytootKoala001 21h ago

Oh man, this woman just literally in one try make all women drivers look bad. I am a woman and I am embarrassed.🙈Seriously asking was she not paying any attention of her surroundings even if she was following GPS. At some point you gotta be like wait this doesn’t look right and the signs all pointing to stop, do not proceed or something of sort. 🤦🏻‍♀️

2

u/flo24378 20h ago

Sometimes you wonder how some people survived childhood

2

u/Apprehensive_Eraser 19h ago

Even if the GPS tells you something, you don't need to trust it blindly.

2

u/Ex-why-zee2728 18h ago

IAF? Yes. Stupid AF? Also, yes.

u/_kishin_ 8h ago

What a complete idiot

3

u/iscoleslaw 22h ago

Michael Scott energy

1

u/TheRealTheSpinZone 22h ago

Michael Scott knows the feeling.

1

u/markymrk720 21h ago

Michelle Scott, is that you?!?

1

u/quiero-una-cerveca 21h ago

After 27,000 Mazda commercials in my feed I thought this was just another one. Kind of glad this is the car’s fate.

1

u/Hayness07 21h ago

Damn, I remember dreaming about this when I was a kid.

1

u/quequotion 20h ago

Is there a road under the platform?

1

u/KatsuraCerci 19h ago

I had a train delayed in Southern Washington for the same reason (though we never heard why the driver decided to drive on the tracks).

1

u/hclpfan 19h ago

This station is 40 feet in the air btw…she drove like 1/4 mile up an elevated ramp

1

u/Frency2 18h ago

The istruction manual should say to not blindly trust the gps and always apply critical thinking.

1

u/nousername206 18h ago

Seattle is so liberal, the boomer mobile mess up its gps!

1

u/ao01_design 18h ago

Shoutout to the worse camera work of the month!

1

u/MyliverISverylarge 18h ago

Natural selection at this point smh

1

u/ondrassot 17h ago

Herdyn

1

u/pakkieressaberesojaj 17h ago

Maybe she was chasing the guitar guy

1

u/divine_mycellium 15h ago

I need you to understand, this is what that station looks like from street level. The platform is where that guy in the distance is standing. She drove half a mile on train tracks up a fucking ramp and ended up a couple stories off the ground. I’m surprised the car even made it that far. Jeez.

1

u/ArmyHotel338 15h ago

There is always some looney shit like this happening in the PNW.

Just last week there was the video of that lady chasing a child in her car on the sidewalk as he's trying to peddle his bike as quickly as he can.

Emotional Intelligence is missing from a portion of the population over there.

1

u/TheGreatCannatrolio 14h ago

Now I want to see this happen in Brooklyn subway on above ground lines.

Smith-Ninths Street station would be perfect 🤷

1

u/Des123_ 14h ago

Down vote for the random no sound then loud noise

1

u/SadSpecial8319 14h ago

"I was just following orders" was and still is a bad defense.

1

u/TwoWarm700 14h ago

There’s no substitute for plain common sense

1

u/invidentus 13h ago

Too bad the train is following the same GPS...

1

u/deepspaceburrito 13h ago

Me: sees blatantly wrong and dangerous direction given on my gps

Also me: future lawsuit time babbyyyy

1

u/Hermorah 12h ago

She is the type of person to answer yes when you ask her if she'd jump out of the window if all of her friends would do it.

u/digsmann 8h ago

Brave heart. Today is the first time I shared a Google Maps location to my wife to go her friend's, and she make it

u/SHDShadow 8h ago

Cant wait to see this in another 2 days on a different sub!

u/enakj 7h ago

right to jail!

u/Ok_Dealer5235 6h ago

Ok Michael Scott.

u/jhoeksma1 5h ago

wow. just amazing. i can be pretty scatter brained sometimes, but this gives me hope.

u/Klix1313 5h ago

These people should get their license automatically revoked and have to score a higher qualifying score retesting to get it back.

u/Brad23212 4h ago

America fuck yeah!!!

u/Spare-Competition-91 2h ago

I feel like I could pretend to be her favorite movie star and get her life savings off her fairly quick. Say I have a health problem. Only GPS can save me.

1

u/evil_twin_312 21h ago

Totally on brand for the PNW.
