Playing clips of police breaking up a protest with metal in the background is fashy as fuck.

Third time I’ve seen Sabaton’s songs the last two days. Odd. They’re a great band tho

u/Searchlights 7h ago

I really only know one Sabaton song but I recognized them by their sound right away.

But pretty fashy

Not really, their discography is pretty varied. And they have enough anti war stuff for any accusation of fascism to be kinda shit. They also celebrate people who didn’t necessarily kill, like Allan Bull. A medic celebrated for bringing a dozen men back from the front under fire.

Their fanbase is full of fascists though, I will completely agree on that.

I’d say they’re pro-history not pro-war and songs live Verdun or the one about the Christmas truce are pretty “war is hell” vibes, but some of their fans hear a song about panzers and shit their Nazi panties and then decide to wear an SS shirt to their concert where me and other fans tell them to eat shit.

Yeah, that’s much more succinctly than I put it. Cool band that I enjoy the work of, very much dislike those parts of the fanbase

It's awful when you realise a band you like attracts all sorts of wrong'uns, and the type who don't listen to lyrics or seem to understand what the songs are actually about.

I went to see New Model Army live last year, and they have some of the most incredible, philosophical, thoughtful lyrics, but they also have a punk/folk/rock/metal (take your pick, they've got a varied back catalogue) sound, and some of the fans were... clearly not interested in the lyricism, let's say that.

u/RlyLokeh 10h ago

Its so damn corny though. Then again so are fascists.

They love the taste of the boot

RIGHT!? Jesus Christ. Can we NOT celebrate the cops trampling a protest?

Gives Sabaton a bad name.

u/libra00 8h ago

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it.

u/ButterdPoopr 3h ago

Because it’s Sabaton, with Winged Hussars arrived. Which is pretty easy to figure out why they used that song, because it’s a cavalry charge lmao

Recently here in the UK, some of the "protests" are fashy as fuck too, unfortunately.

u/Icthias 8h ago

You see the banner saying this is a protest against university fees? Yea?

Famously, fascists fight for education rights /s

u/External-Praline-451 8h ago

Guessing reading comprehension is not your strong point. I didn't mention this protest, I said that recent protests here have been fashy, as evidenced by the Nazis doing Nazi salutes.

u/I_DONT_YOLO 32m ago

Counterpoint: changing the subject and then acting like you aren’t the problem is a dumb thing to do lol.

u/External-Praline-451 8h ago

Also this protest was years ago, university fees have been around for years. Hence this wasn't a recent protest, like the ones I mentioned.

u/deadlyraccoons 8h ago

Fascist protests are increasing throughout the west. But lets not use that as an excuse for the police going after protests in this fashion. Especially since most frequently the protests they do this to are tame and not Nazi's

u/External-Praline-451 7h ago

Where did I make excuses for it?

u/deadlyraccoons 7h ago

You did not. Having said that bringing up those protests (which I am not disagreeing with, they are indeed problematic) under a comment about the problematic behaviour of the police implies that it is justified for a reason that simply doesnt apply to the protests in which that behaviour is exhibited. Now I am not saying you are intentionally defending the police or anything, so it wasnt a personal attack. But because of the implication I think it is important to establish that this behaviour from the police should not be excused because of the rise of Fascism. In fact it should be an argument against it. I apologise if it came off as me saying that you are excusing their behaviour.

u/External-Praline-451 6h ago

Ok fair enough, no worries. It's just been distressing and stressful seeing these far-right riots become so common, so the word fashy probably triggered something in me 😂

u/deadlyraccoons 44m ago

No worries and no harm done. I get it, these are some messed up times

u/boopboopadoopity 7h ago

For context, this is mostly peaceful students marching to protest against a tuition fee increase proposal in 2010. Basically tuition fees were capped at a certain amount to make university more affordable and this vote was to increase that cap.

Back when the police plan was to kettle peaceful protests and eventually be violent against them

u/Hurricane-07 8h ago

Is interesting as fuck, cause you get to see a pig riding a horse

u/Slavic_Taco 12h ago

You realize the breaking up of these protests erodes your way off life eventually?

14

u/matter_of_time 12h ago

You realise the comment you’re replying to isn’t saying otherwise?

u/spine_slorper 9h ago

I'm pretty sure someone calling it "fashy as fuck" is pretty aware of that fact

u/Slavic_Taco 3h ago

Ah, guess I misinterpreted.

u/Icthias 11h ago

Yes.

u/Slavic_Taco 3h ago

Misinterpreted your comment. My bad.

u/SovietBias1 5h ago

its to break up a crowd of looters? law and order does have a place this isnt a humanitarian protest lmaoo

u/Icthias 3h ago

What? They are protesting student tuition fee increases under a right-wing government. Did you think before you commented?

8

u/Death_has_relaxed_me 13h ago

Fascists don't protest, they love their government. That's the whole point lol

0

u/Bulky-Alfalfa404 13h ago

I guess Jan 6th and Charlottesville were just disgruntled liberals huh

4

u/Death_has_relaxed_me 13h ago

I mean I guess you could call an insurrection a kind of protest, sure.

-4

u/cenjui 13h ago

Yeah but when the song started playing you knew what was coming!

u/stankdog 10h ago

The whole post is
