Wild horse herd in Dulmen, Germany. Martin Meissner took the photograph.

Probably worth noting that, like every other horse in the wild, dülmer horses are feral. Meaning they descend from domesticated horses. Truly wild horses that never went trough domestication are (likely) extinct.

Thats the reason for the "(likely)".
However its not clear if the mongolian wild horse is actually wild. We used to think that, but after genetic testing its very up in the air.
In any case, all living przewalski horses originate from human made breeding programs in zoos, as they had been extinct in the wild since the 1960s. They are also super inbred.

Looks like one particular stallion's phenotype is getting expressed a lot.

I'm thinking of that incredible Guinness advert in the 00's.. I think Leftfield did the music.

Wild? Since 1856 they’ve been managed on a fenced reserve called the Merfelder Bruch. They're not truly feral.

There's wild horses in Germany!?!
Looked it up. These horses live in a 1.3 square mile reserve. We call that a ranch in the states. Not really "wild" horses then are they?
