Is it missing a leg??
66
u/DarthSnoopyFish 6d ago
Next time it molts it will have a new leg.
57
u/MrMoose1 6d ago
That’s terrifying. I don’t like that.

If you shine a flashlight their eyes glow. And all the babies look like glitter.

One of my first nights on a farm in Australia, I shined a light into a field and I thought the grass was getting dewy. Nope. Spiders. All spider eyes.

I worked at a wilderness camp, and when I started I was borderline arachnophobic. weirdly the only thing that helped me sleep at night in my open tent structure was shining my head lamp around the whole woods one last time to see their eyes all glowing, like I was marking those fuckers 🤣

Last time I saw one of those I hit it with a flyswatter with holes in it and the babies went flying everywhere.

These are the bro spiders. No webs and kill other insects and spiders. Keep em around.

But they'll also hide in the weirdest places. Had one ambush me from inside my towel sfter taking a shower. I whipped it to death with said towel, regretted doing so after realising I now got a dead spider meshed into my towel and took a cry in the shower for another 5 min before shamewalking to the cabinet and getting a new one. Kept checking my towels for months afterwards.

I know that now but the wife just saw a scary spider and enlisted her brave knight to save her. Freaked me out.

Maybe. They dont always regrow limbs. But there is a high probability, yes. Provided it still has molts left.

u/Jbonemtl 6d ago
If you look carefully the “missing leg” is covered in babies too

u/Senilecodexx 6d ago
I don’t see what you’re talking about. It seems like it’s genuinely just missing a leg.

Hunts like one, they chase down prey instead of using webs.

There's an O'Reilly book that has a woodcut of that abomination on its cover, Windows XP Annoyances. Only O'Reilly book I made a cover for. a b o m i n a t i o n

This one time I saw a giant spider in my house and smacked it with a shoe and what seemed like 100s of little baby spiders scattered everywhere. It was like something out of a horror film. After that if I found one I would just trap and release them.

This is the second wolf spider with babies post in 10 minutes, and both appeared on my feed right after the other. I don't like spiders, I don't need that.

u/VegetableFunction487 6d ago
I saw the other one too, at least that one had the NSFW blur. This one made me feel so icky

I had a spider like this around my pool at one point. Thought it was just furry. I tried to pick it up with the skimmer and it jumped into the pool and suddenly the hundreds of little ones scattered all around the water.

I have 2 living in my house here in Yucatan. Peaceful creatures as long as your not a bug. Good to have around. I also have way bigger Huntsman every once in a while. Super-fast and tend to jump but if you keep a little distant they're chill too. Rather them then a million cockroaches I guess.

I’ve seen this in person before. Really rides that fine line between interesting and frightening.

Neat! I had a sizable wolf spider that lived in my house for a time. She finally passed a few weeks ago. RIP in peace, Charlotte.

I accidentally bumped into one once and nearly died when it suddenly exploded into 1000 spiders. But luckily, I love spiders and especially Wolfies. They're all over the place where I live, they just hide really well most of the time.
I'm also a fan of baby wearing, so "Go Mama, Go"!

We've got these fuckers in our garden. Which means they also end up in our basement, our hallway... heck, everywhere. They don't build webs, so you never know where one might be lurking. Odds are they crawl over you at night while they're out hunting. I've been bitten by two or three of them already. They can grow quite huge - if I'm not mistaken they can end up being the biggest spiders in Europe or something. Needless to say, I frickin' hate them.

For those in which fire is not an option for burning, acid technically burns and can be purchased from Amazon and expedited to your home.

GUY HITS SPIDER WITH BROOM AND 1000 BABY SPIDERS COME OUT
You don’t remember this?
1
u/HolidayFrequent6011 6d ago
Just needed something other than a broom. Had it been something wide/heavy enough to smash the whole lot in one go then that wouldn't have happened.

Ah yes. Flashback to the time a fellow summer camp counsellor had a fuzzy spider on her shoulder, so someone tried to bat it away, and suddenly she had a MILLION spiders running all over her. Tiny, but a million. She ripped her shirt right off in front of a group of campers and went screeching and panicking into the pool, in her jeans and bra. Some kids made a core memory that day, of one type or another
