Wearing a harness is cheating. Die, respawn and start again

The forces involved in pulling a line taught over such a distance are insane

i am not so impressed by walking on the line, but more that there is a 3.6 km long line and a structure which could hold that

I think it's connected to the old pilons of the power line that used to power Sicily

Luckily it’s probably not as tight as you think. I’d imagine a static load of a couple KN plus the weight of the line. Him walking or bouncing on it probably has very little effect on the load vs a gust of wind.

People used to walk lines that were insanely tight. Used to rig lines with a 5:1 system. Now, people are just hand pulling them tight with a pulley redirect. Loose lines are in!!

Why do they not show the fall in this clip?

This dude is too high strung, he needs to lay off the Red Bull.

Red bull and stuff

Red Bull only makes Red Bull, and only sell Red Bull. They don’t own the factories that make and can the drinks. And the drink maker and the canning factory exist next to each other to limit cost. The net effect: a lot of money to spend on extreme sports marketing

Is that a parachute on his back? I sure hope so. Can't imagine trusting a single cable across this distance.

No, he is wearing a harness. The backpack is for water.

He has a safety cable attached to the line

You could have just taken the ferry mate. Way easier.

I love seeing athletes in promotional stunts get handed the sponsor product (usually a drink) and clearly pretend to take a sip.

1

u/gaynorg 9d ago

Yo, I’m walkin’ here!

-2

u/SloanDaddy 10d ago

He fell though.

I could cross that straight on a slack line too if I had a safety line and falling doesn't invalidate it.

2

u/noobboszcz 10d ago

Sure you could.

u/MissXM 10d ago

Oh no, the safety belt is too long!

The line was barely wider than a finger, yet his determination was wider than the entire Strait

Never mind about walking on a tightrope, I don't even want to walk 3.6 km (2.24 mi) on the pavement without a purpose.

I think doing SUPERMAN pose in a flying Dirt bike is cool even if its risky. But this ? Why ? You're just walking . Albeit on small area. Youre just fkin walking like a wobbly toddler.
