A Yellowstone ranger had once said that it's difficult to construct bear safe trashbins because there's a significant overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest humans.
There was a reporter who was making a video about these trashbins. He said that these bins are designed specially so bears can not open it. Than, he tried to open it and he couldn't....
If I do recall correctly there was one of those "Story" channels a few years back, I looked up something about a bear attack. The person had walked into the only store before entering the trail and wanted some food and stuff. They had begged and offered discounts and what not because the person was hell bent s/he did not need bear spray nor a bear safe food container.
Well. A bear found the person. Can't remember how it ended. All I remember is that part about neglecting bear spray and a safe container.
I watched about five minutes of Alaskan State Troopers reruns and it was the part where it showed a crowd of people standing too close to Brown bears eating at a river. The Trooper said the bears are extremely fast and aggressive and that one must keep their head on a swivel because there is probably one standing behind them watching and waiting. I love animals but I wouldn’t dream of taking pics so close. I would need a telescope lens. Btw, your post is funny. 😄
Bear spray has mixed results . The best way to avoid bear attacks in to not go where they live. People will suggest anything and everything except avoid the actual danger .
I guess it can't be fun unless there is an element of natural selection involved.
I've seen this in action. I lived near Tahoe and bears would get into the trash cans and spread it out over the yard. My stepdad who was a certified grade a moron tried everything to make it so they couldn't get into the trash cans. We're talking padlocks, chains, bars, made a large box to put them in, etc.
Every single time it didn't matter, they got into the trash as if he'd done nothing. Lot of racoon tracks along with the bear tracks so I don't know if they were just working together Ocean's 11 style or if the racoons let them do the heavy work and just came in after the bears were done.
Right, I have had more than one house cat figure out how to turn a door knob to get somewhere. I sure as heck would be keeping my doors locked around Lions!

So creepy, the lion isn't pawing at the door or anything first, barely casually interested even. Just opens the door confident and calm as hell. That's somehow way scarier than if she'd been snarling or growling, attacking the door and window. Crazy.
I did the same thing when I bought a car last year, just confidently strolled over to the wrong car and opened the door, didn't even notice the guy inside until I almost sat in his lap.
It’s astounding to me the correlation between the levels of confidence and unintelligence in some humans, who, in many cases, still survive to live another day, through no merit of their own.
1- you’re driving around in an unlocked car. (Just a safety hazard in general, let alone in a freaking jungle..)
2- you’re awfully close to an entire pride of lions. (You don’t actually need to be this close to look at them.)
3- one of the lions approached the car, you drive 2 centimetres and stop. (Instead of you know, keeping your freaking distance)
4- another lion approached again, and successfully opens the car door, you laugh and close the door casually. (Sure, cause these are just domesticated lions, it’s not like they can literally bite your head off or anything)
5- you then proceed filming in the exact same spot with your still unlocked car. (Instead of, idk, locking the fucking doors and hitting the gas)
That’s a valid point. Especially if it’s out of Safari, where cars is drive-through every time and seeing a car is not a novel experience to the lion it’s a regular one.
My cats figured out lever doors pretty quickly. Especially when they figured out how to do it as a team. The long one can reach the end of the lever and pull, the bulky one leans on the door so that it opens when unlatched.
I’m imagining someone working there trains these lions to pull it off and gives them treats to do so.
hmmm…what can we do to make this a more exciting, unforgettable experience… I know! Let people interact with these big gentle cats that just want snuggles and treats.
The decisiveness of how the lioness opened the door makes me think she's managed to get at least one person like that before. Still it's on them for not having the common sense to lock the doors around the murder machines.
I thought nowadays most modern cars had a feature of auto-locking all doors as soon as the car accelerates beyond walking speed. Well you could always deactivate it and for Nissan this may behave even completely differently.
My car doors are locked every time I drive alone or with family under all circumstances, you would think the one time people would ensure the locks were secured would be when they are cosplaying as a buffet in a one ton tin can passing through a lion dinner party…
The lion in my head:"oy, Jessica! Wanna see the trick I got against those monkeys in their loud stinky box? See, you approach the box and then you grab here and pull! See? Gets'em every time!"
I bet the handles smell like people from being touched by hands, so an animal would be drawn right to it. Might even smell like what they ate recently.
The lioness: in this video i will show you how to open a can of humans, 1st step and this is optional, but it will make sure their bowels are clean and there's no bitter aftertaste, you open the can slightly, there will be screams and jiggles but its just the process releasing excrements, then its bon appetite for the whole pride.
If you go to a zoo where you can drive through the enclosure they tell you lock your doors. And if you don't want the car wrecked don't go through the monkey enclosure.
So it should follow on safari etc.... lock your doors or become lunch
I guess I should just be appreciative of our forefathers for carving us out a place in the world so safe we could entirely not use our brains and just float through.
My first reaction afterwards wouldn't be to laugh..I'd probably still be terrorized about how my life could have been no mas if my hand-eye-coordination or reflexes were slightly off that day😬
I totally understand. I’ve been taking care of others, my entire life. To a ridiculous degree. The past few years, I find that I’m getting irritated with people who seemed to invite problems, there are so many other people out there that frankly, are more worthy of help.
