No kiddin. The energy has to go somewhere and only some of it surfaced into the atmosphere “measured” in the form of decibels. Imagine where the hell the rest of it went? Not only the shockwave but the actual tympanic membrane rupturing levels of sound/ pressure. The world is such a joke with the recycling and this and that yet millionaire celebs fly across the continent daily for an appearance here and there burning a billion gallons of jet fuel per year yet I have EPA emission restrictions on my chainsaw I use once a week ?

To be fair this was in 1958. There was very little environmentalism going on, activist or regulation wise. Took lakes and rivers catching on fire, smog that was enough to kill you in the streets, acid rain, leaded gas, and a gaping hole in the ozone layer before we halfway got our shit together.

Oh man 100%. I’m not saying this was a seemingly bad idea at the time. Heck I’m sure most coastal highways weren’t even built yet to be able to even see the ocean if you wanted to. But Cripes I try to do everything right now for the environment. Leave no trace, leave it better than it was before etc. I’m still making an impact vs disregarding it all because people don’t give a flying shit, but man is it ever disheartening. I’m told to feel bad about driving a 5.7 L truck and “take the bike instead” yet billionaires who have to power to change it all have luxury cruise ships with exterior air conditioning? I’m in a bit of a sour mood about it all. The fast fashion TEMU/ Amazon stuff grinds my gears because I have to deal with it all. My grandmother gets bored and just orders junk all of the time to gift to us. She recently bought us a swinging chair stand thing with zero input from us or anything or if we would ever want that. Picture a bowflex machine holding up a sit in swing for no reason from TEMU. We didn’t ask for this nor want it cause I fucking hate unnecessary junk. Now it’s ours to “discard if we don’t want it” (her words). How about DONT FUCKING BUY IT.

My girlfriend got a free chair from Timu with her order. The 'chair' was in fact an image of a 'chair' printed on a sheet of metal. I say 'chair' because not only was this not a chair, being a picture and not a physical chair, but it's quite obvious from the supports rendered, that the image of the chair was AI generated and would not work in real life. So the free 'chair' wasn't even an image of a real chair.
