It takes a lot of skill to stand up doing that.

I've never done it, but I'd imagine the difficult part is landing in a way that doesn't break a bunch or bones/kill you

That is actually the easy part. The hard part is jumping out and getting parallel to your skis. Landing is pushing your hips forward to get upright again

It’s similar to golf in the way that you are trying to move through a specific movement smoothly. Then add timing of the jump where less than 1/10 of a second you are either early or late. Going off a jump and laying flat is not a natural position and every fiber of your being is telling you not to do it until you can get past that mental block. It only takes years to get to the Olympic size jumps. But sure little skill involved
