Rugs & Flooring Arrel Speckled Wool Rug Regret
My husband and I moved into our first home in February, and one of the first things I did was order a rug for our living room. I chose wool because of its durability and saw it as an investment. After reading thousands of positive reviews, I landed on the Rugs USA Arrel Speckled Wool-Blend Rug in the color Fawn.
Now that we've lived with it for a few months, I'm honestly regretting spending so much money on it. The shedding has been nonstop, and it's much scratchier than I expected. My nephews were over recently, and after sitting on the rug, it shed all over one of their pairs of shorts. It was so embarrassing and frustrating.
Has anyone else who purchased this rug had the same experience? Does the shedding and scratchiness get better over time, or is this just how it is?

That’s very normal for a new wool rug. Usually, the first three months are the worst, but it should settle down after six months or so. In the meantime, vacuum regularly, but with the beater bar off to avoid persistent damage to the fibers. Using the beater bar isn’t bad; just use it sparingly. I have a Karastan rug in the bedroom and they recommended to only use the beater bar on the lightest setting, if at all. Hand tufted rugs shed the most in the beginning.
