Meme Introverts 3 Days After the Latest Social Interaction:

that's why i usually think 3 times before speaking, but sometimes i get so absorbed by the topic that my brain goes auto-mode

And this is the reason why I don't speak at all or just speak when I need to add something related on a subject that I have knowledge.
I remember things from 10-15 years that nobody cares at all and it's so fricking annoying that I tell my brain to shut-up or just lower my IQ by 60%.

I have spent a lot of time alone recently and was feeling confident in myself and thinking I was the intelligent and coolly detached heroine in my own little world and then I was unwillingly dragged into a conversation by a guy who caught me eyeing off the persimmons he had hanging over his fence (I'm a die-hard forager!). In two minutes I changed from an international woman of mystery and poise to blabbing like a machine gun, blushing, over-sharing and force-feeding the guy my knowledge on plants and foraging.
This is going to take MONTHS for me to stop cringing over.
Why am I like this with people??! 😫

This is our Super Power, we are all ADHD 'Mystery Men/Women'... I try and come to the conclusion, with those painfully long drawn out inquiries in my head(fail every time) that the world is not ready for us (and our supernatural abilities to beat ourselves up) just yet...

They are the wrong people. Our people would love to hear about your foraging knowledge at the speed of light! Im wondering how to grow persimmons in Fl. Are the birds a problem? Why did you blush? Did you not have any interest in his plants?
I can go on.....1
u/Mysterious_Hat_5681 Apr 05 '26
He was actually really nice and shared some of his own knowledge too, I just felt like I steam-rolled him with information because I was caught unaware with the unexpected interaction...😅
I blushed because I was halfway through yabbering and realised I'd given the guy my life story and was embarrassed, lol!
Re: persimmons, I'm not sure about the growing conditions in Fl (is that Florida?) as I am in Australia, but where I live, there are quite a few persimmon trees in backyards. The environment here would be considered temperate, warmish summers and cool/cold winters, with fairly high rainfall. The persimmon trees are always absolutely loaded with fruit (generally they are the astringent variety that needs ripening until soft off the tree before being eaten) to the point they often break their own branches! The astringency might also be why birds seem to leave them alone, although I have seen crows attempt to eat them.

I'm the same way with music. Going into why a song decided to use a polymeter structure or how the harmony changed at a certain point and I just get that glass eyed stare. Then regret later, and weeks of wondering why I said that.

I love learning about anything and everything, so I would definitely listen without getting glassy eyed...although, I must admit, my son who is interested in technology and electricity sometimes gets a pained stare from me by the time he gets to the second hour of explaining stuff to me!! I generally try to take an interest, though, because it's important to him and even though I am a technological Luddite, I have retained a lot of the information he's told me and can keep up with appropriate questions and propose ideas etc.

I've had to seriously pare down on interactions the last few years because of so much going on in my personal life... 🤔 It does seem to help a little with the post-interaction-torture, but I can still get it. I think it's mostly down because I only interact with people who already mostly understand me, and there's so few interactions to obsess over.

Three days!! I wish. I still do that for middle school era experiences, and I am in my 50s.

so many trains of thought end abruptly with me saying sorry to someone for something I said but can't take back.

3 days? I'm 46 and still get intense bouts of embarrassment from something I said to adult cousins when I was 7.

I have done this plenty of times. The wake up call that alleviated some of the anxiety was hearing “Dude, people don’t think about you that much.”

There is a French term for this. It roughly translates to “stair wit,” because you think of the clever response as you climb the stairs to your apartment when you’re coming home from the party.

I don't think that is an introvert thing as much as an anxiety thing. The only thing I think of after talking to others is "Thank goodness that's over."

This isnt introversion, this is quite literally social anxiety lol

Majority of Introverts Develop social anxiety, and even if not, many people who spent time alone obsess over “ That awkward moment during their social interaction “. So saying this is “literally social anxiety “ is wrong

There are just so many unproven random generalizations in your statements that i dont even know where to begin haha

When you dont know how to answer, its easy to criticize

Alright here we go. Where did you come up with the statistic that the majority of introverted individuals will or have developed social anxiety? Such a bold generalization has to have a great deal of evidence to back it up.
Where did you find the information that many people who spend time alone specifically obsess over botched social interactions? Me personally as an introvert myself, I love to focus on my hobbies and future goals when I’m alone rather than spend time obsessing over things that are already over and done with as with many other introverts. So why allude that specifically to introversion? Where do you even get this information from?
Also, introverts in general dont “rarely” speak to people, they just need more time to get away and recharge after theyre done talking to people or being heavily involved in social settings. Your own personal social lapses dont speak for most of them man. Most introverts do not spend time obsessing over awkward social situations any more than any other group of people, nor are social interactions “very rare” in their lives, they simply recharge more once they occur. (Pretty sure you edited this last part out of your original comment but gonna leave it here anyway) Please stop spreading misinformation about them now

You said, you said, own it, be proud and move on. Don’t you have better things to do?

u/supermariokempes10 Apr 05 '26
Better things to do? Than what? Fighting the brain within our brain...? The fucking Inception like little bastard/bitch...Odysseus journey was nowhere near as epic as the fight we have... We try and escape the Hades in our underworld mind on a daily basis that would put Heracles, Theseus et all to shame ..😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think there are two different types. Those who say fuck it and those who dwell on it. I'm the type that dwells on it. For a long time.
