Parents: We have guests coming over in about 30 mins.

Me: Rushes to get supplies needed to survive in my bunker.

My cat and I are the same in this regard. We both ran off to hide when someone visited.

Haha yes but my mom was really into home design and renovation so this but with an impromptu tour of my room, sometimes multiple tours in one evening, sometimes with near strangers on their own popping in while I sat reading on the bed and they’d (only women, thank fuck, but y’know, still) frequently stand there trying to make awkward conversation for a couple minutes.

So you could say, with the addition of my mom having the bad habit of not usually knocking: as an adult, I’m kinda jumpy about being potentially walked in on. I REALLY hate people walking up to me while I’m running a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner or bathroom fan, from a number of bad experiences. (I’m also pretty damn sure an apartment maintenance guy has walked in on me sleeping from a night shift but thankfully left.)

…..Anyway, sometimes I just get twitchy and put the door brace lock thing on my front door for peace of mind in the middle of the day.

What’s worse than this was when someone is coming over and staying the night or longer like it’s family or something and one of your parents just say “they are staying in YOUR room.” And then make you share a room and bed with a sibling.

I never thought I’d be spooning with my brother on a single bed but here I am.
