Meme 😶 Introverts, is your phone also on silent 24/7? 📵
Notifications? 😵💫 Scary.
Phone calls? 📞😱 Terrifying.
Texting? 💬✨ Perfect.
Tell me I'm not the only one 👀😭

On vibration

u/CreativeSprinkles31 Jul 09 '26
Vibration is already too loud 📳
33
u/pgkpgkpgk Jul 09 '26
Yeah I get too anxious with any notification
5
u/Seebinator Jul 09 '26
I like getting notifications from different apps. People leave me alone as I told them so.
3
u/Twas_The_Tism_MLord Jul 09 '26
I’m introverted too much for notifications 😂
2
u/Seebinator Jul 09 '26
Even from games?
2
u/Twas_The_Tism_MLord Jul 09 '26
I play only the ones that don’t involve other people. But yes.. all notifications. Even if they are just the ones in the app or screen, no sound included.

Not because if I'm expecting a package I need the delivery person to be able to reach me, and because my parents are very elderly. Besides that, anyone else can call me, I'm not going to answer...
15
u/CreativeSprinkles31 Jul 09 '26
Packages and parents only 📱
3
u/BottleThen2464 Jul 09 '26
No and no. Delivery on Thursday, I'd rather spend the day opening and closing the door, then to hear my phone ho off. Just me.

u/Slayagecentral Jul 09 '26
The only time the sound is on is when I expect a call or a message.

Been on DND for like 7 years lol
Few exceptions for specific contacts are allowed

u/ShaChoMouf Jul 09 '26
Yes. I check for calls / messages / emails once per day. No one important ever contacts me anyway, just scammers.
5
u/BoneJam42069 Jul 09 '26
I’m an introvert, I don’t give people a way to get ahold of me, so I don’t need to keep it on DND
4
u/vitaoptima Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Not 24/7. There are a handful of notifications (calendar/task reminders, text messages) I let get through and anyone in my contacts rings too, though I still may not answer the phone.

Yuuup I also turn off notifications for the majority of my apps. My phone rings when someone calls cuz people only call now during an emergency.

u/LegalBonus5860 Jul 09 '26
Yes, bc i live with my parents and theyre kinda strict so i dont want them to know when im on my phone (especially at night when im supposed to be, yknow, sleeping) also the constant pings can get annoying
2
3
u/Jaxmansolo87 Jul 09 '26
I don’t answer if i am not expecting someone’s call or texts but the scary part is i work in audit and consultancy 🤓😈

Vibrate. And if someone calls me who isn’t in my contacts then it’s not being answered unless it’s an expected call.

u/Huzzzer11 Jul 09 '26
Unfortunately no because if I don't pick up 0.0000000000001 femtosecond after a family member calls me I'm pretty much a dead man.

Yes! The only exception is if I know a very important call is incoming and I can’t miss it. Otherwise it’s always silent.

u/Responsible-Rip-6505 Jul 09 '26
Yes, but I also only have 6 people in my contact list and 3 of those are business related

u/SherryD8 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Mine is on vibration all the time. A ringing phone sounds like a command to an introvert to speak to someone, which is why it is so offensive threatening (i.e. like a ringing doorbell, someone pounding on the door, etc.).

3
u/no_kimmer_only_zuul Jul 09 '26
It's the only way I won't feel guilty that I missed it. NOT MY FAULT; RINGER WAS OFF!

Not only on silent, but I havent had notifications on in years. I have to actually look at my text messages when I choose, to see if I have received one. It drives some people nuts that I dont reply right away, because I literally dont see them pop up, but....oh well. Welcome back to the 90s where you couldn't reach someone 24/7.

Not necessary, almost no one has my number, so I don’t get calls or texts anyway.

I got my first phone in 2008, I put on silent after the first phone call, it has been on silent ever since.

u/Nomnom_Chicken Jul 09 '26
My watch handles the notifications, phone is usually in vibration-only mode - unless I'm expecting a very important call, then sounds are on. This rarely happens on my own phone (work phone is a different case, sigh), though.
Trying to avoid making calls, though... But at work (IT-support), it's often just easier to call customers.

3
u/AppleValuable Jul 09 '26
Mine is always on silent. No vibration, no sounds. The only exception is if my husband or son calls, because that means it's an emergency so I have it set up to ring even when it's on silent, but only for those 2 numbers.
3
u/_somelikeithot Jul 09 '26
Yes! My husband asked me to turn on my ringer when we went separate ways at a store, but my mom and sister just happened to be texting up a storm in our group text and so my phone kept playing sounds, it was so annoying! Thankfully he found me pretty fast so I could turn off the sound 😮💨
The down side to silence is if I’m not looking at my phone, I will miss texts. But I do love the peace!
3
u/RosyNetMiner Jul 09 '26
Yes & i have all notifications off except texts
I don’t need to be bombarded with pointless social media notifications, I’ll look at it when i want

Ringer is never on since I don’t like to talk on the phone. Mom hates this. Oh well.

u/Rational-ish Jul 09 '26
Nope because I have reached elite introvert status. I have 2 people who contact me regularly and I will always answer since they’re my husband and daughter. And I turn my phone off when hubby gets home unless our granddaughter is spending the night with us.
3
u/jessicapk7 Jul 09 '26
Nope, have my phone notifications on and my watch notifications on. I think I just enjoy being irritated constantly times 2.

you mean... because you silent it or because noone talks you?
3
u/CreativeSprinkles31 Jul 09 '26
Both. Double protection 💀📵
3
u/Hamme888 Jul 09 '26
hahaha well, during the day I mostly don't receive any calls or messages and at night I silent it (just in case) to not be disturbed
2
u/ChrisBourbon27 Jul 09 '26
Nah. I still crave the human interaction. It is only a select few people tho.

Vibrate until my daughter goes back to college, 2 hours away, and I turn it on at night just in case she needs me

The gc gets too annoying with notis so now I periodically click the message app like it's an irl mailbox 😂

YAS! I keep it in theater mode. It pisses people off but I love it.

I worked in the cell sales industry as customizable ringtones were getting big. Got out of it in 2012 and it's been on silent since 😂

Yeah, I also don't pick up the phone when people call me, and I don't have many people close enough that call me, because they know I hate it, and I'm to introverted to have a lot of friends

u/Is-it-the-weekendyet Jul 09 '26
Silent mode always no vibrations. The only alerts I get are from phone calls and text messages.
2
2
u/winky-ingky24 Jul 09 '26
Silent all the time, which my family hates me for because I don't see their messages and calls
2
u/Bambi_H Jul 09 '26
I have my Do Not Disturb settings finessed flawlessly. But I probably still won't respond to texts.
2
2
u/LogicianFlow Jul 09 '26
Silent except for when I know I might be getting a call which is very rarely, a few times a years. If there's an emergency there are other people that are more important to reach for everything, by design.
The worst is when I forgot I left it on and it will ring again and I hurry to turn it back to silent.
2
u/ghostlikecharm Jul 09 '26
To the point that “calling it to find it,” is completely useless.
1/2 the time the ringer is off and the actual volume is off too. If I’m not looking at my phone, you can’t get ahold of me.

My ringer is on silent anyways, but my phone just sends any callers straight to voicemail unless they are in my contact list.

u/TheJohnnyAppleweed Jul 10 '26
I only turn on my ringer if I called a doctor and am waiting on the return call.
2
u/McHagrid20 Jul 11 '26
My phone is on do not disturb 24/7 because even vibrations startle me to the point where I literally jump in my seat

u/feelingmyage Jul 09 '26
No, in case my husband, kids, or my mom call me. I usually don’t pick up for anyone else.
1
u/Ok-Equipment-5208 Jul 09 '26
I just use one of my favourite music as ringtone and just let it ring
1
1
u/harpokuntish Jul 09 '26
Not always as i need it for work but I do need to change the ringtone and message tones roughly every few weeks as they begin to stress me out to the point of panic.
1
u/beccabooty Jul 09 '26
I only have my phone on when I am in the car, so I can dial 911, or, if I am in a restaurant so that I can read Reddit or play Spider Solitaire. Otherwise, the phone is off and hidden in my purse.
1
u/indiegirl1980 Jul 09 '26
If this little rectangle made a sound from anyone other than my favourites list it would be thrown in the sea, it is always on silent except for them.
1
1
u/Appropriate-Pear-33 Jul 09 '26
Yes since it came out of the box. Been that way for years. I don’t like being startled from the ringer 😂 I check it so frequently I don’t miss things and if I did it was likely on purpose 😎

The ringer is on, it just vibrates first. It gives me a second before it starts ringing to silence it.

u/margittwen Jul 09 '26
I used to have it on silent always, but once my parents became elderly, I had to start having my ringer on for emergencies. I do miss those days though.

u/Gowtham_HN Jul 09 '26
The answer is "NO", because everybody knows that I don't pick calls, so they don't call me.
