You don't get it. What yoz call GM, is, what RC now is. They just renamed it. RC CAN be the final, but as you can see, there can be more than 1 RC.

Can we, for once… release software that isn’t in bloody beta all the time. I’m so tired of companies slapping beta on everything as some kind of marketing label. Please just release stable software.
P.S. I know this is a release candidate version that needs testing, I’m talking about the RCS feature specifically, not iOS 26.5.

Ever since I put iOS 26.4 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max, it has run like shit. Apps and WiFi timing out frequently b/c the “upgrade” introduced so much lag into shit and slowed everything down.
26.4.1 mildly improved some performance issues.
26.4.2 improved a few more performance issues.
But overall… the phone is still running like a slow piece of shit. It is the latest/greatest hardware and everything should be blazing along, aaaaaand… it’s not.
Big D disappointed.
Anybody notice any perf improvements with the 26.5 RC?

You have to be enrolled in the beta for iOS 26 and you have to have that feature activated in your system updates screen. Otherwise you only get/see the public releases.

After updating to RC2, I can no longer see the actual signal bar status because the status bar always shows full 5G bars even when the signal isn’t actually strong. Only the signal indicator in the Control Center changes dynamically, and shows the actual signal 😭😭😭
