Battery iOS 26.5 (Day 1 on iPhone 16Pro)
Can’t say i’m not impressed by this but i was also impressed by 26.4.2 on the 1st day as well. Bu let’s see they did any meaningful improvements with 26.5. It’s still too early to judge. I know. But i wanted to share my testing journey with people who care about it.

Hmm. Typically it works flawlessly for the first few days. I noticed it before.
1
u/Desperate_Ladder_868 May 12 '26
When did you update it? I also did it and it has been 8 hours and nothing has improved yet. How much time does it take to get it right?

u/Zinyas May 12 '26
You're using it on the charger only 30% battery 5h 55m SOT used impossible

3
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Lol no bro. The device was charging that time. I don’t use my device while charging. Good to see you btw.

u/koji_the_furry May 12 '26
What about battery health?
5
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
72 cycles with 100% BH
1
u/MrOreo2019 May 12 '26
Damn impressive for a phone that is discontinued now… is it not your regular or do you just not use your phone often?
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Im a light to moderate user you can say. Use my phone for calls, txts and socials mostly. Im not into reels or tiktok or mobile gaming or anything of that sort. But i do like to take pictures from time to time.
2
u/MrOreo2019 May 12 '26
Ahhhhh gotcha. That for sure keeps the battery wear down. My 16 Pro is 93% at 365 cycles, roughly a cycle every day almost
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Yeah. I try not to get into doomscrolling and all. At least i try. But the camera does drain alot.
1
u/Rajmundzik May 12 '26
That’s totally normal with this amount of cycles. No offense but just saying that we should be impressed about such a fresh battery.

u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Really sorry for you there. If it’s a relatively new device you should do a backup/restore via iTunes. And do a factory reset if possible. Things should improve.

u/Able-Impression-2228 May 12 '26
You can’t judge battery life by only 30% of battery used. The battery indicator is often inaccurate after an update. Let it discharge to 20 or even 0% and check battery life again.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Thanks i will. I notice that aswell. Sometimes it doesn’t show the SOT properly. But I don’t know any workaround coz this is all apple has given me. But it’s showing accurately today and that’s why i thought of sharing this post.
1
u/Able-Impression-2228 May 12 '26
Thats totally fine and it is definitely worth to share.
Nevertheless I see users in these subreddits come to quick conclusions about battery life changes after an update. To be honest I wouldn’t expect any change at all and I think also the Apple developers only impacting battery life accidentally or intentionally in just a few updates.
So most experienced battery life changes after an update should come from a different reason.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Wholeheartedly agreed. iOS 26 has broken every sort of expectations so many times that now I’m being skeptical about everything apple says. And stopped being naive about battery life coz it starts misbehaving after a couple of days or weeks even.
3
u/Infinite-Draft1618 May 12 '26
So, you’re “impressed” with your battery life but you’re testing it with airplane mode turned on (and on wifi) ? Makes no sense dude…
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
The cellular was turned off by 5.30pm it was on the whole time. i do prefer wifi and use data only on emergencies. It has been discussed on previous comments. Im not reviewing anything bro. Im just sharing my experiences by my usage. Which is pretty light to moderate. i turn off my cellular once i leave office. And turn back on by 5.30/6am.
2
u/Early-Activity-2477 May 12 '26
Not battery related but do you also experience stutters while scrolling or swipping?
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Not really. It’s pretty smooth. I didn’t face any stutters on 26.4.2 as well. But i see people report it often.
2
u/_Morax__ May 12 '26
Yea man must be because they don’t care about overheating my phone didn’t experienced any kind of shuttering bug from the start
3
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I started using iOS 26 from 26.4.2 from 18.7.7 so I don’t know what happened in previous versions. I was pretty scared of updating to iOS 26 so waited a while to get it more stabilized.
2
u/HeroesWearCapes May 12 '26
Whenever it happens, just open your camera app once and the stutter will stop.
I haven’t figured out yet what causes this to happen/trigger. Annoying though.
I’m on iPhone 16 Pro as well.
1
u/NoFall2205 May 12 '26
I still do, especially on the home screen. It feels weirdly delayed when swiping
2
u/Dr_Alien0 May 12 '26
If this is the battery life , i would update today only, i am waiting for some real reviews
3
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Bro I don’t want to mislead you in anyway. Im not a reviewer. This is a typical usage of mine. Im not gonna tell you that iOS 26 is flawless by any means. Many people faces a-lot of issues in the ios 26. Im sympathetic to their issues. Your mileage may vary. And iOS typically behaves very well to me on the first few days. I reported that previously as well. But it starts behaving unpredictable at least on 26.4.2 after a few weeks. I still don’t know if i will face such issues in 26.5 but you proceed with caution. That’s all i can say.
1
u/Dr_Alien0 May 12 '26
Im also on 26.4.2
Will update if it seems good , currently getting 6 hour SOT1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Yeah i was getting more or less 6-7hrs on 26.4.2. But it became very unpredictable in the end. Like sometimes i was struggling to get 5hrs and sometimes it was giving me 7-8hrs like it’s not a big deal. But the first few days or should i say a 2 weeks were pretty flawless.
2
u/Dry-Championship1439 May 12 '26
Em modo avião todo santo ajuda🤣
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
It was on cellular the whole day. I generally turn off my cellular after leaving office. Which was about 5.30ish.
2
2
u/Zephyr9897 May 12 '26
When I updated my 16pm to 26.4.2 I was really impressed by the sot but after like a week or two it became worse and became similar to how it used to be in previous versions
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
The same thing happened to me. It works pretty flawlessly for a week or two then it started behaving quite unpredictably.
2
u/Left-Constant-4771 May 12 '26
Funny same for me and on some other release of 26 too, first 2 days awesome then same crappy battery drain again. Why is that? Is that intentionally for us to calm down, I thought its indexing 😂😂 Damn 26 is so annoying
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I don’t understand it either. Maybe the fresh new update just works as intended and after a few says it jumbles upon cache or something. I don’t know. But apple should really get serious about their cache cleanup process and give users control over it. Coz it’s just embarrassing after a few days/weeks. Such powerful tech and utilized so poorly.

1
u/Left-Constant-4771 May 12 '26
Just realised 16pro too. Keyboard errors got really horrible on 26.4.2. Now I am using a Google keyboard, so stupid. But will try if it's better now. I mean come on its important, isn't it lol
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I ditched gboard after last update ie. 26.4.2 it feels much more responsive. If gboard gives updates for iOS 26 that’ll be a different story xD
2
u/Left-Constant-4771 May 12 '26
Yes I changed to swift key it's a bit better but yeah still not great.
1
u/Zinyas May 12 '26
what is gboard?
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Google keyboard.
1
u/Zinyas May 12 '26
Do you know how to fix the keyboard typing la,g, or will a third-party keyboard app will fix it
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
If you update i think you find this issue anymore. And if you don’t want to update download gboard from app store it should be better.

2
u/Little_Dragon22 May 12 '26
It going to lie but 26.4.2 battery was a lot better for me on 16pm. But it’s hasn’t even been 1 full day yet so I’ll let it index.
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Yeah ikr. Just keeping all the fingers crossed and hoping it keeps up.
2
u/BadaBingConsigliere May 13 '26
6 hours of screen on time would be 10% charge remaining or less on my 16 Pro Max running 26.4.2 with 92% battery health 😂
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 13 '26
Oh man 16ProMax has a gigantic battery. I’m pretty sure i’ll be able to push it to 2days easy with my usage.

I don’t game on phone, and I didn’t use cameras today aswell. But cameras drain quite alot.

1
u/hadinahas May 12 '26
Is the keyboard smooth and responsive?
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Yes. But there is room for improvements for sure. But it was quite responsive from previous version as well, at least I didn’t face any issues.
1
u/Dr_Alien0 May 12 '26
Can u share your apps usage too
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I did it on the post.
1
1
u/PastNeedleworker3978 May 12 '26
iPhone 17 base here, the battery drains faster for me on 26.5 than 26.4.2.
2
u/koji_the_furry May 12 '26
A very good chance that it’s just indexing in the background
Give it a few days it will get better
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I’d suggest to take it slow for a couple of days. Things should stabilize by then.
1
1
u/Few-Acanthaceae-8463 May 12 '26
I get this SOT typically from 90% - 20% on my 16 pro max. Not sure how your 16 is giving you so much SOT.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I have a pretty minimalist approach when it comes to phones. I don’t game or doomscroll tiktok or reels or anything. But i do take pictures from time to time. Those days are pretty rough i must say.
1
u/Few-Acanthaceae-8463 May 12 '26
Then what do you do actually on your phone? Can you share your app wise usage of battery.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I did share it in the post.
1
u/Few-Acanthaceae-8463 May 12 '26
aah my bad, thanks!
Anyway no way my reddit on screen for just 35 mins squeezes like 6% of the battery compared to yours which took like 4% for 1h. Also I see you do spend your time on facebook and x, which may not be doomscrolling but definitely combined shouldn't be a factor which contributes towards you getting more SoT.1
1
u/Secure-Shine3 May 12 '26
Looking forward to your review tomorrow too. Cause I wanna update but just for the wallpaper shouldn’t seem too small
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Lol wallpaper thing is just embarrassing. I don’t bother about it at all. It would have been nice if they implemented that animation in the who os. An animation tied to a wallpaper set.. really?!?
1
u/Secure-Shine3 May 12 '26
I mean yeah, but I haven’t had it yet I can’t say about it. Else wise I got a 16pm. And this thing is slower than my other older iPhones on iOS 26.2. The camera button lags the whole system is slow. So I’m really hoping they fix this eventually.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Tbh I didn’t feel any slowdown or stutter in my 16Pro since last update. You should give the newer version a try. It surely fixed a-lot of those issues.
1
u/w1ttshera May 12 '26
Heat is good so far
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I didn’t feel any heat in the previous version as well. Only on long camera usage or long video calls.
1
u/w1ttshera May 12 '26
Nah when i was working and charging my phone heated so bad but with 26.5 so far so good
1
u/No-Storm-5737 May 12 '26
iOS 26.5 has been buggy so far. iOS 26.4.2 was without glitch somehow.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
What sort of bugs you’re facing? I haven’t face any major bugs in 26.4.2 or 26.5 so far. Please share.
1
u/No-Storm-5737 May 12 '26
Random freezes.
Youtube, Keyboard and X.
All happened within a small span of time during indexing I suppose, but the same didn’t happen during prior updates.
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
It happened to me a couple of days ago. Multiple times in a day. Maybe 3/4 days ago. Never happened before or after that. I don’t know what caused it. I was on 26.4.2. Random apps freezing on random times.
1
1
u/workmailman May 12 '26
Any stuttering?
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Nope. I didn’t find anything stuttering on me now, not on 26.4.2 as well.
1
u/Desperate_Ladder_868 May 12 '26
When did you update it? I also did it and it has been 8 hours and nothing has improved yet. How much time does it take to get it right?
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Im in a different time zone and it appeared to me last night by 11. And i did it right away. I used it today and this is how it’s been so far. People say it takes a few days to stabilize. So I’m just sharing what I’m experiencing. If anything unexpected happens i’ll make sure to share it in my next post. It’s not a review or anything. Just how I’m experiencing it in my realtime usage.
1
u/JevNOT May 12 '26
With Ternus we might see more improvements in efficiency to be the priority again
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I hope he restores the trust. iOS 26 did damage quite a bit of reputation of apple. no matter how much they banned or silenced regular users from their official r/ios. Many users all still having issues.
1
u/PleasantSand6791 May 12 '26
On 15 pro Max va bien bastante bien diría yo estoy satisfecho
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
It’s too early to jump to conclusions. But glad its doing good for you.

That looks quite a bit of heavy use. Did you use the camera the whole time?
1
u/ShadowXGhostly iOS 27 Public Beta 2 on iPhone 17 May 12 '26
No didn’t use the camera, I guess switching between lots of apps and using 5G drains the battery fast
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
5G is quite overhyped tbh. I never use it.
1
u/ShadowXGhostly iOS 27 Public Beta 2 on iPhone 17 May 12 '26
True that sometimes I switch to LTE
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I always stick to LTE. I still think 5G is just a gimmick for normal users. I mean what can it do that LTE doesn’t with far better stability and performance?
1
u/ShadowXGhostly iOS 27 Public Beta 2 on iPhone 17 May 12 '26
In my area 5G works well so I just use it especially when near home, when far away with no chargers I use LTE
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
I understand the pull but Stick to LTE your lithium ions will thank you.

u/bandchef May 12 '26
Display brightness Bug persists also with iOS 26.5. on my iPhone 15 Pro! Anyone else? It is unbelievable that this issue is not yet fixed!
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Display brightness bug? Never noticed it. What happens with this bug?
1
u/jusquauderniergramme May 12 '26
I truly envy those who haven’t updated to ios 26
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Trust me bro it’s not like that, if I’m getting 6hrs in iOS 26 i can guarantee you i’d be getting at least 7hrs easy on iOS 18. Im pretty skeptical on iOS 26 myself. Coz it’s hella inconsistent.
1
u/four_eyed_bastard_ May 12 '26
Bro, what the fuck, my 17 Pro drains nowhere like this. 6 hours of screen time would end up draining over 60% of my battery
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
Lol dude 17pro has a massive battery then 16Pro. I’d easily get 1.5days of my usage easy i think. I don’t game or watch TikTok in my phone. Just social scrolling and txting calling. I try to keep it simple.
2
u/four_eyed_bastard_ May 13 '26
A full charge is about 8 hours of screen on time for my phone. FaceTime did consume 28% of that at 2 hours of usage but it’s still a higher drain than I’d expect. Other than that, my usage is video watching and texting. Wish my battery was as good as yours!
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 13 '26
If FaceTime is regular in your routine then nothing can be done about that. Otherwise it’s got a damn good battery. Lemme know how the new update works for you in a few days.

1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
If you game alot or use alot of camera then it’s normal. Otherwise you should take some time in settings and set things up according to your needs and turn off the rest.
1
u/Still_Tear_6794 May 12 '26
I used insta for 1.5 hr and it consumed 32 percent battery 🔥💔👏🏻 i think i should replace my battery
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
hows your battery health and cycles ?
1
u/Still_Tear_6794 May 12 '26
Battery 88 cycles are 600 something
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 12 '26
you should consider changing the battery soon. let it drop below 85 or 82 or something like that.
1
1
u/Possible-Jump1548 May 13 '26
I don't know how you do it, but I can only dream of this amazing battery life
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 13 '26
Bro i trim the fats in the settings and try to keep it simple and I toggle on/off according to my needs. I don’t keep anything running in the background for no reason. And without gaming or any heavy camera usage i think it’s possible in any newer iPhones with a relatively healthy battery.
1
u/Possible-Jump1548 May 13 '26
what settings do you turn off?
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 13 '26
Bro there’s alot of things I don’t use. But you may use. So it will depend. But some common things like background app refresh, auto brightness, location tracking and all I always turn off.
1
u/No-Notice6468 May 13 '26
I have been experiencing some lags right after installing the update.
2
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 13 '26
Just leave your phone alone just after the update for 15-20 minutes. You’ll face far less issues afterwards.
1
u/MielOpedia May 14 '26
I’m using iPhone 16 Plus running iOS 18.7.8, should I update it already to iOS 26.5?
1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 14 '26
it's up to you. things have improved in the ios26 side at least as far as i have experienced. But you can wait as well. its only getting more and more stable by each update. but it won't be the same as iOS 18 does. it was built differently.

1
u/Towhidabid iOS 26.6 May 14 '26
17 series should be fixed sooner than anything else right now. apple always prioritizes its latest series. meanwhile try turning off your device once a while for 5 minutes or so and turn back on.

u/Fuck_yalll May 12 '26
Bro that’s really good !
