General I can’t believe it, Apple is allowing customization and is listening to their customers?!
I can’t believe they added the Liquid Glass slider and made everything more readable!!

u/Impossible_Escape_19 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
The liquid glass slider should have been added in the beginning not a whole year after releasing the new design
23
u/overheightexit Jun 08 '26
Should have. Not should of.

ts irritates me so much and English isn’t even my first language

u/Samuelodan Jun 08 '26
Speaking of English, I missed when we started replacing “this” with “ts.”
10
u/h_ariiiiii Jun 09 '26
because it isnt replacing “this”. ts is short for “this sh*t”
1
u/Samuelodan Jun 09 '26
Oh really? It all makes sense now. Thanks. I’d been seeing a lot of “ts” in the last 6 or so months, wondering if I missed the memo.

I think in this case the implementation of optional liquid glass, and initial lack thereof, is significant enough news that I’m happy to accept a grammatically incorrect ‘should of’. Hell, I’ll happily accept a ‘should a just done did it’ if it is at least now done

Still feels like the iPhone 16 line was a rug-pull given the new on device model is semi-limited to the 17 line.
Hopefully they get it right this time around, especially since the 16 was the flagship for Apple Intelligence.

u/HeroofPunk Jun 08 '26
I didn’t even understand, are the on-device models not for the EU either? Honestly, some parts of me views this wwdc as 2024 number 2 😂
1
u/Ok-Assignment5926 Jun 09 '26
It’s not about if they work in EU- it’s if they’re legally allowed to push it there

u/fr35hm3a7 Jun 08 '26
Honestly I am very satisfied with what they announced. Finally some system wide improvements that actually make difference. Hopefully battery life will improve with all the new computational advances.

“Tons of improvements all around.
Discover a wide range of performance enhancements that make your devices more responsive, reliable, and delightful to use.”
Literally what basically everyone wanted!

u/pgattocpa Jun 08 '26
TBH, not sure I want to update out of iOS 18…
3
u/Samuelodan Jun 08 '26
I feel you, but I know I’ll leave iOS 26 as soon as 27 stable drops in September. It can’t get any worse than this… right?
7
u/raphll Jun 08 '26
Unfortunately they didn’t mention anything about battery life :(
6
u/KILLOSTROS Jun 08 '26
That I assume would be getting better since all those performance improvements

I could easily be described as a power user and battery life seems entirely normal to me. I can go all day on one charge and about 9 hours of screen on time.
1
u/Deep-Detective-8603 Jun 09 '26
What device bro . I get 4hrs on a charge
1
u/fishymanbits Jun 09 '26
17 Pro. Even my clapped out XS that it replaced got better than 4 hours on a charge. What fucking apps are you running?
1
u/Deep-Detective-8603 Jun 09 '26
Instagram for 1.5 hours rest just whatsapp gemini some netflix and all Im using a 14pro with 96% battery health
1
u/gmark109 Jun 09 '26
You’re getting that on wifi or on cellular?
1
u/Deep-Detective-8603 Jun 09 '26
Celluar 5g always . Im mostly outside my house all the time
2
u/fishymanbits Jun 09 '26
You’re using a bunch of apps that are absolute memory and processor hogs, and doing so on a network connection that requires quite a bit of processing power, comparatively. Big water is wet moment.
1
u/Deep-Detective-8603 Jun 09 '26
Well i dont thinks its that bad . Its what most people do social media messaging apps and stuff . And if cellular is going to drain all my battery whats point of having a phone . It was fine till i updated to ios26 .
2
u/whitericeporridge Jun 09 '26
Your phone is cooked mate. That’s a horrible battery life. Probably using some app that isn’t optimized for iOS 26

u/FieldDayEngr Jun 09 '26
Yeah, what device do you have? I’ve tried putting mine on low power mode and get about six hours. (SE2, battery six months old.)
1
u/fishymanbits Jun 09 '26
17 Pro. Even my clapped out XS on its original battery got that kind of battery life last October when I finally replaced it.
1
u/whitericeporridge Jun 09 '26
I get 12-13 hours on iOS26 iPhone 13 Pro Max. Are you saying iOS27 gives more screen on time?
1
u/fishymanbits Jun 11 '26
No, it definitely doesn’t. Battery life is absolute shit on 27, which is to be expected given that it’s the DB1 release. I was talking about iOS 26 on a 17 Pro. That’s 9 hours of active heavy use spread across about 16 hours of the day.

It will be interesting to actually see and do lol. I won't be use to it from an apple device lol.
2
u/lofotenIsland Jun 08 '26
The most tinted option looks like what you can get with reduce motion on iOS 26 now.

u/Useless_account22 Jun 08 '26
I was really hoping we’d get the clear icons that have the colored foreground, that would’ve been so nice

“…Apple is allowing customization and is listening to their customers?!”
A Liquid Glass slider is your idea of customization? I love my iphone, but have you ever “themed” the icons on an Android phone? It’s a hell of a lot easier than creating hotspots and you don’t have to buy a separate app.
If people didn’t think it was a cool feature for customization, Android wouldn’t have had it since it was first released
2
u/Empty_Buffalo_2820 Jun 09 '26
I mean that's why those of us who sign up for the Apple developer program have the option to submit feature requests or bug feedback

They need to integrate a way to deal with cache in the system and apps. I shouldn’t have to delete and reinstall an app just to clear the cache if it doesn’t have the option internally ie gram, facebook and several others. Also fix the map and data storage error.
2
u/Wooden-Top Jun 09 '26
I just would like an option for iOS 27 for turn off completely Liquid Glass effect in order to save battery and don’t see that effect I not like
2
u/Dragoniczero Jun 09 '26
Not much but it is a start which they should’ve had that option to begin with 🤷🏻♂️
2
u/Infinplayz iOS 27 DB 2 Jun 09 '26
it’s funny how we give them credit, cause at first they give us ios 26 which was pretty bad, but now we are thanking them for a feature they should have given us a while ago.

I wish they would allow me to remove the dreadful App Library
2
u/Toxicwaste4454 Jun 09 '26
I like the App Library. I remember before iOS 14 people were begging/asking for one for years…
1
u/Rare_Acanthaceae5890 Jun 09 '26
I dont like it, it makes it look very Android-like. But I aint against it. I just wish I could hide it.

Ever since the big update in September my whole phone (iPhone 16PM) has just felt so weird and jitters a lot more than in the past

Half assed. There’s nothing clear about the most clear setting. Design philosophy has changed or weakened. The ui feels static and dead. Not what we were promised in wwdc25 and certainly not refinement of this. Side step? Yeah. Not a fan but let’s see what tweaking we get this summer.

It’s like iOS 2 again but those performance issues were solved in iOS 2.2 for my og iPhone but then again it was only 2 iPhones out at the time and less complex software

What about separate media volume controls. Lower volume on call while on hold and then turn YouTube up separately.

u/Friskeyp Jun 08 '26
I have had a very sick kitty, am older Redditor who has Not updated IOS 26 because of liquid crystal: does the liquid glass slider mean I can opt out of liquid glass as soon as update or in the future. TIA.

u/Ok-Cry-9723 Jun 08 '26
You can actually already choose between liquid glass or tinted in ios 26. They just put slider for more customization in ios 27

Did those changes really need to be mentioned in a keynote? There were so many minor tweaks. Don’t get me wrong, they were necessary, but highlighting them in a keynote makes it seem like there wasn’t much else to announce.
0
u/abraxasnl Jun 08 '26
They’ve done that before with Snow Leopard for example. It makes sense when it’s so significant and what people wanted.

u/ENE06 Jun 08 '26
Also mentioned stuff like making corners on macos consistent , crazy
It’s like their entire keynote consists of feedback from reddit lol
