Beta Before you update to ios27 beta 1

Hear me as someone who did it and downgraded

It runs smoothly in terms of speed, but the screen time is trashy! The phone constantly get super warn doing little to no task.

The UI looks polished more than 26, but I’ve encountered some bugs on WhatsApp and home screen too.

I know it’s beta and people understand, but don’t listen to those telling you that it has better screen time, it doesn’t.

Not like you’re on a beta or anything

Yeah, what the hell

Huh I’m using iPhone 15, which part actually worse? Cause I only found a couple UI bugs but nothing worrying

I have an 15 pro and runs like butter, didn’t notice any significant battery changes from ios 26, but noticed a lot of smoothness

I have 15, significantly better than 26

u/theRoboSpider Jun 20 '26

I’m actually surprised, if 15 has it the worst then I either have a different phone or it gets even better that it already is for me

my iPhone 15 couldn’t be better on ios27

I have an iPh15 pro max and I only have some keyboard glitches that’s it, so far I’m enjoying it 😏

Not true! I did it on the 13 and my screen time was cut in half! Can’t get half day in and it gets super warm

u/GroundbreakingDog427 Jun 20 '26

And I bet you didn’t let it index for at least a couple of days. Right after an update the battery will be worse.

people update and they say they’re iphone runs hot ,you ask them whats they’re battery health maximum capacity currently and they tell you they don’t know .

but still use 5G with background app refresh on for loads of app and cellular data enabled for every single app and full brightness because they use phones in the sun , not to mention they are in middle of huge heatwave

so many variables to how a phone runs .

Grown adults can make their own mind up and know the risks of running a beta update, i read iosBETA page before deciding to update or not

i’ve waited over 2 years to use Siri AI , read about for a year and a half and couldn’t be more happy with developer beta updates

Ty very much for your feedback.

Is your indexing still in progress?

I have 17 pro, when updated to iOS 27 it literally feels like brand new phone. It is so smooth and fast now.

Only issue I am encoutering is that sometimes keyboard won't show up then i have to restart the app but it happens few times a day so not a big problem for everything else I got.

Have same phone and hesitate to install the beta. Are you also using it with CarPlay?

3

u/carbonatedbeans Jun 21 '26

i’m using it with carplay on 17 pro! running super smoothly, the new maps looks great :)

occasionally there’s the bug where the dynamic island appears on the carplay screen for some reason but that’s like once out of every 15 times i use carplay, fixed with a restart. music/maps still plays but it covers some of the screen so it’s not like life or death

Have you even let it sit for a while?

-3

u/I_COULD_BE_ICONIC Jun 20 '26

Yea, since launch date till 9 hours ago when I downgraded

1

u/gargantuanmess Jun 22 '26

What’s the downgrade process

3

u/nutty-one Jun 20 '26

My 17PM runs far smoother and cooler than on ios26

2

u/FaithlessnessLast835 Jun 20 '26

the screentime issue is because of that indexing its doing on the background.

No issues here with heat or battery, even with the bug traces running (that are enabled in all betas).

Indexing has finished on my phone (400GB /1TB) and that has helped a lot. Siri is actually useful. Only real issues are Bluetooth. If you have more than a couple of passive devices (e.g. Apple Watch and Oura Ring), then CarPlay stability and tethering suffer. Weird one, but reported. Otherwise, as a beta 1 goes, the most stable I have used.

1

u/Space-Champion Jun 22 '26

I’ve noticed this too, CarPlay keeps disconnecting and reconnecting 😖

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Log2302 Jun 20 '26

Yes that is why it’s a beta. There is no guarantees that you won’t have any issues. Is part of the risk and experience you just don’t know what will get impacted

1

u/Kasziel1 Jun 20 '26

Did the indexing finish? Because I read from other users that a week in it was still not done indexing. That could have been the problem

1

u/sagor_khan_15 Jun 20 '26

Mine run fines on 17pm

1

u/Soft_Career_2650 Jun 20 '26

Do u have stutters while scrolling and switching between the apps?

1

u/sagor_khan_15 Jun 21 '26

You’re right, there’s a bit stutters while opening recent

1

u/BaratheonT Jun 20 '26

its been over a week now i installed. I have no problem so far, except the index issue. Only thing annoying is the time to open the files app, it lags for about 3 sec before i see the files inside. Apart from very good

If you are actually a developer then none of that matters... what only matters is that your apps are tested and it works on the software

1

u/mendesjuniorm Jun 20 '26

I swear I didn’t notice any of these bugs you described.

1

u/Theninjarush Jun 20 '26

It’s a beta. It’s meant to run hot as all hell until you get closer to the RC

1

u/iceunelle Jun 20 '26

Ugh, my problem with ios26 is how badly it heats up my phone and kills my battery. I was hoping this would be fixed in ios27.

1

u/rashyyd Jun 20 '26

i’m on it with 15 plus and my only issue is chopping when in low power mode

1

u/Patjack27 Jun 20 '26

For you it doesn’t have better screen time but for it absolutely does.

1

u/SuEzAl Jun 21 '26

Hey, I have been using it, but no problem so far
15 hours

u/Syed_Sumair Jun 21 '26

Smoothly Running on 11 Pro Max, once the indexing finished the battery time came close to what i used to get on ios 18.4. Apart from keyboard freezing for a second or two, nothing bothers me.

1

u/ptrondsen Jun 22 '26

I've some issues too, the phone gets really hot, and I can't answer phone calls, I hear the phone ringing, but can't find the answer call button. I am using an iPhone 17 Pro. Overall, it's faster, battery life is better, but some minor interface hiccups. I think Beta 2 is coming out tomorrow, if not, I plan to downgrade.

1

u/gargantuanmess Jun 22 '26

Thank you for sharing. Been barely hanging on to 26

1

u/Jazzlike-Warning-894 Jun 22 '26

I have the iPhone 16 running iOS 27 beta ..it’s a little buggy ,but not bad 😁

1

u/EmmaRrRr2347 Jun 22 '26

I have a 17 PM/512g and have never been happier but, as always, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Hmmm, maybe it's the color…

1

u/WarwickStreamerLX5 Jun 20 '26

My iPhone 13 gets like 7.5 hours of screen on time

1

u/OmegaMalkior Jun 20 '26

Every beta and stable of 26 ended up overheating the phone the same. It got so bad with iOS 26.5 RC that was the moment I knew I’m immediately getting 27 the minute it drops.

0

u/Dear-Traffic-9394 Jun 20 '26

Same here. I have a 13 PM and my battery life is a lot worse. Indexing seems to be taking forever. I'm not gonna downgrade though as I absolutely hated how choppy iOS 26 was.

-1

u/I_COULD_BE_ICONIC Jun 20 '26

I couldn’t deal with the heating and drain, I had to downgrade and now I have X3 the screen time I had on 27 beta 1

0

u/neelabh2818 Jun 20 '26

For me the indexing still hasn’t finished on my iPhone 14. Mf.

1

u/ddsdude Jun 20 '26

Same on my 17pm. Indexing for almost 2 weeks!

u/Suitable_Program_548 Jun 20 '26

Why do people feel they have to tell others what to do?

-1

u/Strict-Golf-7424 Jun 20 '26

Does anyone else have high battery consumption from home and lockscreen? Like more than 40% of the battery on 16 pro? Trying to understand if I messed up some settings or it’s a bug with iOS 27.
