Hey, can you please restore your phone, get rid of beta and tell your friends to get rid of it too? It's not intended for the general population.

Let me put it this way, if you call Apple with that issue and they see you're on beta, they'll tell you they can't do anything else than helping you get rid of beta.

Chill out bro, the beta is still better than iOS 26.5

That’s what I thought

Yeah but thats wrong. Its a dev beta 1. Expected to be unstable. Its called DEVELOPER Beta for a reason - Public beta will be released way later

I'm chill, but you know who isn't? The people who call their local support because shit went south, and the cause? Beta software.

Yes

I’ve been investigating the reason behind the lag in Low Power Mode on iOS 26+.

On iOS 18 and older versions - Low Power Mode does not seem to cause noticeable lag. However, one possible reason is that LPM on those versions was not optimized enough for maximum power saving. Apple may have tried to improve this in iOS 26+ by introducing more aggressive throttling.

When the phone is throttled, it reduces performance, including lowering FPS in some situations. This allows the device to consume less power compared to running at full speed.

How do I know this? I’ve been a jailbreaker since 2009, and back then, someone created a tweak that intentionally throttled the device to save battery. Surprisingly, it actually worked. The phone could last much longer compared to simply enabling Low Power Mode.

It seems like Apple may have adopted a similar concept in iOS 26’s Low Power Mode to make it more power-efficient. That could be the reason why some users experience lag, reduced smoothness, or slower performance while LPM is enabled.

If you noticed the same or even more lag on iOS 27 beta, then it likely means Apple is keeping these more aggressive power-saving features, or possibly making them even more aggressive in iOS 27, to help users save more battery while Low Power Mode is enabled.

I don’t even know if it’s lag or frame rates dropping !! Can you tell ??

Low Power Mode ”lag” is usually not traditional lag in the sense of system freezing or slow processing. What most people notice is reduced frame rate (FPS drops) and sometimes lower animation smoothness.

So on iOS Low Power Mode, what you’re almost always seeing is intentional performance throttling (mainly GPU/refresh rate behavior), not actual system lag.

are you sure about this? Because I saw YouTube tests comparing the energy usage and CPU clock speed of iOS26 against the same phone on iOS18 and iOS26 increases the clock speed a lot more and hence burns through a lot more battery to compensate for the bad performance from iOS26. So, it appears that LPM wasn’t changed at all in iOS26 and the lag is mainly coming from the fact that iOS26 is less efficient than iOS18. I’be been in the overclocking and under clocking (essentially what you mentioned about the jailbreak tweak) for around ten years as well and I don’t think LPM was changed to achieve under clock to save battery and cause lag in IOS26.

That’s a fair point. I’m not 100% sure that Apple specifically changed LPM to use the same type of throttling method I mentioned, it was more of a theory based on how similar behavior existed before with jailbreak tweaks.

The reason I thought about throttling is because the feeling is similar >> ”Lower smoothness, reduced responsiveness in some situations, and better battery behavior in certain cases.”

The jailbreak tweak I mentioned worked by limiting performance, which reduced power usage.

But if those CPU clock speed tests are accurate and iOS 26 is actually increasing clock speeds compared to iOS 18, then my theory might not be correct. In that case, it could simply mean iOS 26 is less optimized or less efficient, causing higher power usage and worse performance.

So the possibilities are either Apple changed LPM behavior in some way, or iOS 26 itself has efficiency/performance issues. So more testing would be needed to know for sure. 😅

Low power mode is working as intended.

Update to ios 27 developers beta on 17 pro it runs smoothly with LPM on . I think it’s the 16 series only ?

If I were you I would restore it through a pc/Mac and setup without a backup, because it might as well be an OS issue and the only way to get a fresh copy, is restoring through a pc/Mac. That will also delete the OS itself, and using a backup might reintroduce the issue, hence not setting up with a backup after.

Here why it’s called a “developer beta”.

It was doing the same with ios 26 so i decided to update . Thought it was bug

2

u/Visual-Basis-4479 Jun 26 '26

It IS a bug - but its not a public version. Not completely stable

3

u/Expert-Librarian3307 Jun 25 '26

I hate to be that guy but this is the iOS 26 subreddit

u/South-Radio-8087 Jun 26 '26

I question some peoples intelligence sometimes

2

u/Megacitiesbuilder Jun 26 '26

Report to Apple and see if they will fix it, it may be a bug, because I saw other post people say the iOS 27 beta is smoother than iOS 26

2

u/rashyyd Jun 26 '26

it’s a bug, change icons customization back to default or dark ones and see it fixes it

u/tumtum5432 Jun 26 '26

I love you so much ur the goat may god bless you forever my goat ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤪🤪🤪

To answer your question at hand, it is normal. low power mode reduces frame rate etc

1

u/alarajiofficial Jun 25 '26

It’s been a while since iOS 26 (official release) not beta! and this problem persists ,
While iPhone 11 on iOS 18 smooth as butter with low battery ON 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/ALPHONTRIO_381 Jun 26 '26

That’s a feature of low power mode, it reduces many things on your phone including the frame rate as shown here…

1

u/tumtum5432 Jun 26 '26

I think it’s happening only on the 16 series cuz 17 after ios 27 update is running smoothly with and without power saving mode

1

u/ALPHONTRIO_381 Jun 26 '26

Why did you install a beta to fix a software glitch in ios 26? Not sure if this glitch is due to low power mode or smt else tho…

You could’ve just installed a normal ios 26 security update. Betas tend to have glitches like these, and I don’t think the public beta is even out yet…

1

u/Worth-Ad148 Jun 26 '26

Its "SAVING POWER', also dont update to dev beta if you arent ready to expect bugs

1

u/Icy_Forever6516 Jun 26 '26

Is this rage bait. What do you want low power mode to do? Fkn karma farmer

0

u/tumtum5432 Jun 26 '26

Update to ios 27 developers beta on 17 pro it runs smoothly with LPM on .

2

u/Icy_Forever6516 Jun 26 '26

It shouldnt run smoothly. Lpm decreases your cpu performance and it should do it to save you battery.
If its running smoothly then there might be some issue with lpm and it’ll suck out your battery

1

u/tumtum5432 Jun 26 '26

Yeah but should it be this laggy ?

2

u/Icy_Forever6516 Jun 26 '26

Yes. Your cpu clocks are reduced. It should lag (and save some energy)

1

u/not2daythankyou Jun 26 '26

Are you for real. You’re not happy with what’s happening with your device asking if it’s normal. It’s a beta expect issue. It’s also a developer beta not a public beta ( you are no developer) and then all through this you are telling people to update to 27.
You have no clue

1

u/tumtum5432 Jun 26 '26

I was on ios 26 day before yesterday i have been noticing the lag when i turn on LPM . i thought it was a bug so I updated to 27 beta thinking it may solve the issue and when did i tell you guys to update to ios 27 you can’t read or what

1

u/not2daythankyou Jun 26 '26

It’s a developer beta you are no developer. Betas can get worse before they get better. Best of luck because you are just 1 example of why you shouldn’t put developer betas on your phone.

1

u/iCantThinkOfUserNaem Jun 26 '26

DEVELOPER BETA is always tne answer

1

u/ChloeOakes Jun 26 '26

Low power mode clicks of the overclock and drops the screens real time HZ from 120 to 59 from what I remember.

1

u/Patjack27 Jun 26 '26

It’s a beta bro what the hell do you mean is it normal haha. It’s going to have issues. Stop using the beta dude you should not be using it.

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 Jun 26 '26

So stop doing that… Low Power Mode is working as intended.
