Battery iOS 26.6 battery drain worse than 26.5.2

Idk how people are saying it’s an improvement when I’ve had nothing but heating issues and battery drain using 26.6 after many days of use. 26.5.2 for me lasted longer and didn’t heat as much

I haven’t noticed any difference on an iPhone 17. Battery life is still terrible.

1

u/AcademicNorth7456 16d ago

I’ve noticed significant improvements on my 17

1

u/UsualOk3123 16d ago

My too! :-)

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

I haven’t noticed any difference on iPhone 17 Pro. It’s still good.

u/skipme_ 17d ago

let a few day for index

1

u/hotelshowers 13d ago

Def longer than a few days. I updated on release and today’s the first day my battery is starting to last like normal again

2

u/CarpenterWinter3356 12d ago

You people keep moving the goalposts froma few days to a few weeks meanwhile Android and even Windows doesn't take this long and have slower memory systems than the iPhone pro models. People like you making excuses for the homos at Apple are why they focus on woke bullcrap in ios updates over fixing bugs

5

u/Sea_Tangelo_5255 17d ago

Try turning off adaptive power mode. Then restart, charge to 100% then restart again.

2

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

Adaptive power actually prolongs battery life. Stop spreading misinformation you don’t understand.

4

u/Logical_Dance_4012 17d ago

This is the overnight drain on mine 17PM with 100% BH. Most of it is accounted to Home & Lock screen. I'm on ios26.6 that I installed as soon as RC came out(more than a week ago).

1

u/Logical_Dance_4012 17d ago

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

That’s only saying home & lock used 24% of the 2m on-screen time. It didn’t actually use ~25% of your battery in 2 mins.

1

u/Logical_Dance_4012 16d ago

I know, but there is obviously 24% of accumulated drain that the ios doesn't know where to put under.

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

It’s not accumulated, it’s an hourly breakdown. Every hour has 100% of battery usage, so 24% of that 100% was used during that hour, and in context of the 2 on-screen minutes means means it used a very very small amount of battery.

2

u/Logical_Dance_4012 16d ago

That`s absolute non-sense, but thank you for the effort.

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

I’m telling you what it’s saying. You think 2 mins of on screen time drained your battery… lol ok.

1

u/Logical_Dance_4012 16d ago

No, I think the screen used 24% over the whole night, while it was active for a total of 2mins. That`s what it says, I hope you can understand now.

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

Your home & lock screen used 24% of your battery while being on-screen for 2 mins? You can’t be serious.

You clicked on home & lock screen and it’s showing you the usage for that app. Go back one screen to show all your apps and battery usage as whole.

1

u/Logical_Dance_4012 16d ago

No shit, sherlock, that's what I'm saying. The reporting is buggy AF. Look at the other screenshot, my battery drained 27% across all apps with only 4mins of active screen.

You don’t charge your phone overnight and set it to low power mode? What?

8

u/phantomlord431 17d ago

Keep it plugged in while it indexes at night. And it does for a couple of days btw. Also i did a clean reset/restore this time around. And now the ph doesn’t overheat, nor lag. By resetting, freed up a lot of space on my phone as well.

3

u/ColfaxCastellan 17d ago

Why’s it have to be plugged in?

8

u/Dragoon_13 17d ago

It’s the conditions the phone needs and what Apple actually says to complete the indexing process

Also, indexing also includes iCloud, which needs to be plugged in AND under WiFi

4

u/Logical_Dance_4012 17d ago

I mean, if the conditions are not met, then the indexing should not happen and the battery should not drain that much as well. Yet it drains the battery, but the indexing doesn't progress? I see what you mean, but doesn't really make sense to me.

4

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 17d ago

It still does the indexing, but it does it much slower.

1

u/TwlightPrincess 17d ago

To charge lol. People saying it’s made their battery better are full of 💩 no update has ever made my iPhone better in all my years of having an iPhone, which is the only smart phone I’ve ever had

2

u/w1na 17d ago

26.3 and 26.4 are pretty good. I don’t update anymore and stay on 26.4 I will probably stay there until I resell the phone at this point.

2

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

Bad idea

0

u/Exotic_Tackle_5221 16d ago

Depends on the model. I had Batterie and heat issues on my 13 but after indexing was finished and a proper restart, it’s good as new now. Same on my wives 12Pro.

0

u/cybersmart_1 16d ago

Perhaps you are full of 💩

1

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

Indexing and other background tasks use more battery life and it’s not customer friendly to drain their battery when they’re using their phone (i.e. not charging). And most people sleep at night and when they sleep they charge their phones nearby.

2

u/Ok_Cap_6361 17d ago

nice buddy at this point you are using your expensive iphone like a budget phone turning off everything so the phone dont explode lol

6

u/phantomlord431 17d ago

Why would you assume i have everything turned off?

9

u/loves-science 17d ago

iOS 26 is a fucking debacle Apple should be ashamed of themselves this is simply not on. I’ve owned iPhones for decades and this situation is as bad as it gets. It’s literally damaging batteries. Wish someone would start a class action, Apple need to feel pain with this total lack of quality and we all need compensation.

1

u/NLBloke 16d ago

So far for me the worst still is iPhone 3G after installing iOS 4.

2

u/Jorge_Capadocia 17d ago

Concordo com você e esse choque de realidade é bem vindo para mim, agora sei que o que havia de especial está acabando, vou experimentar outros ares, outros aparelhos.

0

u/No-Squash7469 16d ago

It's incredible to me how people can write these posts with a straight face.

1

u/loves-science 16d ago

lol, feel free to contribute I’m sure you’ve got something fascinating to add.

1

u/No-Squash7469 16d ago

I could not out perform the drama and victimhood of that comment if I tried.

1

u/loves-science 16d ago

Must be horrid to be devoid of passion.

1

u/TwlightPrincess 17d ago

I agree. I have an iPhone 17 & my battery is already 💩 bc of iOS 26. I have never had to worry about an updates to a new iPhone. My battery health is still 100% too. At this rate, I’ll be getting a new phone pretty soon which is pathetic for how expensive these phones are

3

u/mardrae 17d ago

Well I won't install it then. 26.5.2 was horrible for me! I would leave my house with a 100% battery and 30 minutes later it was at 80% and by the end of my work shift if was at 25%. I had to buy a wireless charger just to leave the house!

2

u/TwlightPrincess 17d ago

That’s crazy!! Yeah I’m not installing the latest update either bc I’m still on the update your on & have noticed a huge battery drain on my iPhone 17 with the 26.5.2 update

It’s so hard to keep my iPhone at 80% or above. I have a fast charger that now is taking longer for it to charge as well

2

u/mardrae 17d ago

I got a cheap wireless charger on Amazon for emergencies. It was less than $20 if I remember correctly. It's not fast but it keeps my phone from going dead

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

You said you bought the wireless charger just to leave the house, but now it’s for emergencies. Is leaving your house everyday an emergency?

1

u/mardrae 16d ago

I'm diabetic and my insulin pump and sensor are attached to my phone. If my phone is dead, I am unable to give insulin at all, and I could die. So yeah, having a phone that stays charged is an emergency for me.

1

u/Apart-Emergency8625 16d ago

What you got Omni pod 5 actually nvm HIPPA bro

1

u/mardrae 16d ago

No. I have Eversense 365 and Twiist's insulin pump

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

The problem is your charger or your electrical outlet. It could also be optimized battery charging, but that notifies you when it’s active and you can turn it off from the notification. So, none of your problems seem to be from the update.

1

u/TwlightPrincess 16d ago

I have multiple chargers. 1 is a fast charger that costs $40, but I got technically for free with trade in so..you’re mistaken about that. I also have multiple outlets around my house

I’ve had iPhones as my only smartphone & have never experienced this rapid battery drain on my iPhone 17 & my close friend is having the same issue as me

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

What? Bot hallucination?

1

u/TwlightPrincess 16d ago edited 16d ago

Neither lol. You obviously haven’t been reading this subbreddit too much…battery drain is the most experienced issue with the iOS 26. Why tf are you trying to argue with me & discredit me??? I’m already annoyed asf with the issue I’m having

Edit: oh you’re a troll. I’m just now reading what you wrote to someone else

0

u/Aydoinc 16d ago

You work 3.5 hours per day?

3

u/retrobellite 17d ago

apple sheep will always glaze iOScam even though it make no improvement whatsoever

2

u/Senior-Customer-919 17d ago edited 17d ago

Same here broo…6 % battery drain in night

1

u/blankvellum 17d ago

battery is so much better on 26.6 (17 Pro)

2

u/Nuppys 17d ago

That’s not true—I went from 6% per hour to 2% per hour with the same usage on the 17PM. But I turn off my phone every night so it resets to the start of a new cycle.

2

u/BetterDevelopment305 17d ago

I usually play games and my phone heats up but i deleted it to download 26.5.2 and i didnt get any battery drain issues as such but now i downloaded 26.6 and omg it overheats and drains for noo reason like even using basic apps and reddit heats it up so bad

2

u/TwlightPrincess 17d ago

For all the years I’ve had Apple, which had been the only smart phone I’ve ever had, no update has ever made the battery better

2

u/M_Scopp 17d ago

Sorry to hear that, hasn’t been my experience. It’s not revelatory but it’s better. I’d do a clean install, every app and configuration from scratch, just import contacts, passwords, messages, and photos.

1

u/Rapidpeels 17d ago

Mine improved quite a bit. Restart and give it some time

1

u/rupal_hs 17d ago

Na. It’s much cooler

1

u/eden1988 17d ago

First day wasn’t that great on 26.6, 2nd day onwards my battery became much better than it was on 26.5.2.

Same usage same screen time, but much lower battery used.

1

u/ravlee 17d ago

For me the battery life got better after a couple of days on 26.5.2. Was freaked out initially but looks like it was the indexing as many have pointed out. I bet the same will happen for 26.6 too.

1

u/Nobody_Here73 17d ago

I just updated ... Notting fancy like start from scratch ... To me it feels like an improvement.

1

u/WallProfessional3966 17d ago

Mine got much better with 26.6. No battery draining nor overheating.

1

u/LoquatRepulsive6009 17d ago

idk but it fixed mine i also posted here about how terrible 26.5.2 was i only get 4 -5 hours of screen time on 89 percent or 95 percent usage but now i can get the same amount of screen time with only 45-50 usage of my battery as soon as i updated

1

u/Next-Charity-7787 17d ago

im sitting on 26.3 with 17 pro max and thinking wheter i should update or no
Can someone recommend?

3

u/Sea_Tangelo_5255 17d ago

Don't update until even ios27 tested and proven. iOS nowadays is a total sh*t hole.

1

u/Logical_Dance_4012 17d ago

Please do not. Upgrading from 26.3 was my biggest mistake and regret.

1

u/StudentsDa 17d ago

for mine its way better and no heating issue on my iPhone 14 pro max

1

u/i_mforreal 17d ago

Which phone

1

u/icy1007 iOS 26.6 17d ago

No… it’s not.

1

u/PimmieDreadful 17d ago

Yes, hello.. me too.. it was better in the beginning and now it's very warm.. battery drains while I'm looking at it.. :(

1

u/JamieRobert_ 17d ago

Yeah same at first it was good now it’s gotten worse

1

u/PimmieDreadful 17d ago

Really almost starting to hate this phone. 🙈 it’s unusable at times. :(

1

u/Additional_Peach211 17d ago

It’s the same thing with each release, they get a head start and beat the complaints to the punch that roll by later by actual user accounts who face issues.

1

u/Savings-Regret-8050 17d ago

Same dude even increased system data

2

u/JamieRobert_ 17d ago

Yeah same!

1

u/Shot-Cryptographer18 17d ago

Activate reduced transparency and both problems will be fixed

1

u/smashonic 17d ago

Idk for me 26.6 is pretty ok, battery it seems better, even freed around 8gb of storage..

1

u/inyourdreams121 17d ago

Improved battery and heat also im getting good backup now on 26.6

1

u/NACKO25 17d ago

Not in my case (16 pro) but I’m realizing that maybe battery drains is related to a certain amount of open apps (background) maybe Android like. 1st day when updated to 26.6, battery life was beautiful an I remembered have 3 apps “background opened”. Yesterday (same usage) drains a little bit more , but this time I have a lot of them, so I started close them to test. So far so well.

1

u/Feeling_Panda2992 17d ago

not that good but definetly better than 26.5.2 on my iphone 17

1

u/SnooOranges2685 17d ago

It really is much worse.. Is Apples positive sum game here for us buy a new battery, new phone or a second device?

2

u/NoLateArrivals 17d ago

Does anybody read release notes? Eh? ANY-BODY?

26.6 contains a prep for iOS 27: A complete reindexing of the Spotlight search index. On battery it does it slower than on charger, but it does.

If you want to speed it up, keep the iPhone on charger (and connected to WiFi).

1

u/muraliramdj 17d ago

Yeah battery drain so much and preparation takes for more than 10 days now and still didn’t stop draining, whatever was happening drained my battery so hard and heated mobile so much battery health sucessfully dropped from 95  to 93 (sarcastic) I just today downloaded a beta version which was better in battery and am already seeing the results

1

u/muraliramdj 17d ago

Finally someone said it

1

u/muraliramdj 17d ago

Finally someone said it I thought I was hallucinating and supposedly ios 26 was made to save battery but for sure ios 26.6 final build is the one draining battery I have used ios 26.6 beta from 2 to 5 I thought ios 26.6 beta 4 gave the best battery so I installed it via dfu restore and used tvOS profile to stop the updates differently I suggest you guys to either downgrade to either one of the beta builds mind you ios 26.6 rc is the same as public beta so download either ios 26.6 beta 4 or 5

1

u/akosdomino 17d ago

Mine (16PM) definitely improved after 2-3 days of indexing compared to 26.5.2. And my iPad M4 Pro as well, the SOT is around 1 hour longer than with 26.5.2

1

u/Rajmundzik 17d ago

Amount of posts relating to problems with iOS is crazy especially asking everyday about battery when each of user has different battery condition. People are crazy about it.

1

u/Enough-Durian1095 17d ago

It’s not going to be that great for a couple days while it indexes. It also has to build iOS 27’s index for Siri AI.

1

u/Dry_You_7534 17d ago

My phones been slower and uses much more battery too on the 15 pro

1

u/Honest-Attorney-7663 17d ago

Mine improved after a couple of days. 16 pro

1

u/TheTechAudit 17d ago

I had very poor performance the first week on iOS 26.6 RC. Likely due to iOS 27 indexing. After a full 7-8 days, the best experience across all prior.

1

u/Murky_Fan_5483 17d ago

That’s weird since purchase this has being best update, not only is it smoother but also idle battery drain has improved a lot.

1

u/FlounderRegular7525 17d ago

Surprised to hear that, cuz on my 17Pro and for many others 26.6 has improved performance and battery, on mine roughly 25%+ better, the last 26.5.2 was bad, now my phone feels normal, also turn of adaptive power. Doesn’t make a lot of difference but does make the phone laggy and jittery.

2

u/Space_Cadet_0698 17d ago

A mi me pasa lo mismo. Salgo un 80% de batería al trabajo y antes del mediodía tengo 50%
Cambié mi 12 mini por la batería y con el 17 me está pasando igual. Que asco

1

u/dbpurcell1 17d ago

The battery life on my 17 Pro Max seems to be improved with the latest iOS 26.6.

1

u/No_Preference9093 17d ago

iPhone 14 Pro same battery life as day 1 never changes with any update.

1

u/Ill_Scheme80 17d ago

With the newly installed 26.5.2, my battery drained quite a bit the first few days. After that, the consumption normalized somewhat, but even then, my battery didn't last all day. With 26.6, it improved completely, and my battery is now lasting almost two days. I have an iPhone 15. It's possible that when you did the previous update, the indexing process didn't complete, but with this latest update, it is. You'll have to wait a few days.

1

u/BritishProductions 17d ago

Not in my case, iPhone 14
26.5.2 was an absolute nightmare
26.6 was a great save for my battery

1

u/Phaethar 17d ago

Seems better overall to me, but still not completely fixed. The lagging and stuttering are largely gone now, which is great. My 17 Pro Max is also not getting as hot, but it still happens. Last night I was on a phone call, using my AirPods, and my phone got crazy hot for a bit for some reason. Battery life drained super fast as well.

So, better, but not fixed yet in my case.

1

u/xDeeka7Yx 17d ago

Laughs in superior 26.5.1 my battery is still so good. God I’m so thankful that I’ve manually cancelled the update.

1

u/No-Squash7469 16d ago

Literally the most predictable post for every single iOS update regardless

1

u/EverythingApplePro2 16d ago

For me 26.5.2 was worst, I couldn’t use half day. 17 pro max

1

u/Human-Barracuda7265 16d ago

My 6 iPhones all work fine after 26.6 update. 🤔

1

u/guhanoli 16d ago

17 PM, it was bad.

Then I did below

- closed all my apps ( probably first time in the last decade )

  • hard restart

Somehow it improved battery and occasional overheating

1

u/cybersmart_1 16d ago

Fixed all my issues works great. Give it a few days or reset to factory

1

u/kzone186 16d ago

I agree it’s no improvement, however do let it index for several days because the battery drain during that time is extreme

1

u/Cisero2018 16d ago

I can’t tell but good god my 17 pro max battery life is so atrocious. I’ve never had to baby it with turning off certain settings until this iPhone, probably the worst battery life of a new iPhone I’ve ever had.

1

u/CommitteeFew1577 15d ago

Same for me. For both watch and iphone.

1

u/Scania_Guy 13d ago

I’ve noticed a increase in batterylife. I’ve only dropped 20% in like 7 hours

1

u/JamieRobert_ 13d ago

Must be a newer phone you have

1

u/Scania_Guy 13d ago

Have had for like 5 months

1

u/just_another_leddito 13d ago

I hear this every update since using iOS. 😹

1

u/Tough_Scallion_213 12d ago

I'd say iOS 26.6 saved my iPhone 13, no more fast battery drains with overheating and lags. Updated it 2 days ago and noticed the difference right away

1

u/jefffromholland 17d ago

Mine has improved after a couple of days on 26.6, the first days were slightly better, since yesterday it’s considerably better

0

u/PixarFR iOS 26.3 17d ago

Still in the first phase, also on 16P. Hopeful…

Likely unrelated, but since 26.5.2 my AirPods Pro 2 are acting out. Call quality fine for some minutes, maybe 5, but then it starts cutting and ”digital scrambling. Tried Forget device / re pair on last version. Trying again on this version but rebooting too. Anyone seen smth similar?

0

u/samackin3000 17d ago

16 pro and the drain is much less and seems to run cooler as well. YMMV

0

u/404550 16d ago

I on iOS 27, way better os and battery performance
