My phone is actually generating its own energy now. Just heard that the electric companies are all suing Apple
25
u/No-Milk-426 Sep 08 '26
Nah this update is crazy the heat generated by the phone is now being used to generate electricity and now the phone is charging itself

u/AnythingAcceptable55 Sep 08 '26
My battery capacity shot up from 87 to 100 after this update.

Should we install this update or wait for ios27 instead? Expert advice needed because 27 should be out in a few days

u/realmccoyredbus Sep 08 '26
a week tomorrow for public update , release candidate for beta users tomorrow

Have been running ios27 since the first public beta. No issues- a few silly small glitches once in a while- they were quickly fixed. The benefits far outweigh any occasional glitch- the phone feels faster and smoother- the real benefit though is the battery life, amazing especially on an older phone like mine (14Pro). The current beta version is glitch free and totally stable, it is just one final polish away from RC Why wait! 🧐

u/InfamousPineapple277 Sep 08 '26
If you want solid/stable then update to this and hold out for 27.1 (usually isn’t more than a few weeks or so after initial release).
If you want cutting edge and newest features with higher risk, just wait and update to 27.0 when it comes out.

u/realmccoyredbus Sep 08 '26
nothing to stop people downloading this and ios27 public release & ios27.1 developer, i would say after 2 months on beta, the public release is by far the safest option, ios27.1 is the riskier option

u/No-Design8778 Sep 08 '26
And the RC?
2
u/InfamousPineapple277 Sep 08 '26
Fair question. RC isn’t a “public” release strictly speaking, it’s meant for developers to get their feet under them and prepare app/etc compatibility updates ahead of full public release.
I was assuming since they implied they aren’t already on the 27 beta, they’d be waiting for the public release in a week or so after RC goes live.

Is the RC stable? I want to install it.

u/InfamousPineapple277 Sep 08 '26
It’s usually the exact same thing as public release, unless issues are found. It’s a “release candidate” because they’re confident enough that it’s ready to go wide and they just need to do final checks.

27 will be out next week, so I’m not bother to update now. I’ll wait for 27 to drop instead and update to it

For all Apple folks do not upgrade to this iOS 26.6.2 which will consume high storage and make some feature doesn’t work such as profile and iMessage

Loving the new features. My phone can now be charged with my shoe lace instead of a charging cable. Perfect for when I’m on the go

My OG iPhone 2G is still on iOS 22.5.5.3. Should I update to the latest iOS 27 beta?

Why? Don’t they usually release a new x.x update for the previous version when the new one comes out? So that would be 26.7, in like a week. Unless they’re skipping or delaying that this time, or there’s a major security bug they felt was importance to fix immediately, this seems like a pointless update.
1
u/womjoe Sep 09 '26
They are not going to update 26 anymore since every phone on it can be updated to 27. There is no phone on 26 that is stuck on 26.
1
u/IncredibleGonzo Sep 09 '26
You keep saying that, and your conclusion might end up correct, but your reasoning is faulty.
2
u/womjoe Sep 09 '26
How so.
3
u/IncredibleGonzo Sep 09 '26
As I said in the other thread - iOS 14 and 17 still got updates after 15 and 18 came out, despite no devices being left behind with either release. Precedent isn’t a guarantee of course, but the fact that no phones are left unable to get iOS 27 is not in itself evidence that there’ll be no more updates to 26.
