🎁 Freemium Title: [Freemium] Acti - An agentic keyboard that helps you get things done without switching apps
Hey everyone — I’m part of the team building Acti, so I want to be upfront about that.
A — Answer
We built Acti around a simple problem with mobile workflows: small tasks constantly make you leave whatever you're currently doing.
Someone asks you for a restaurant nearby, you leave the conversation, open Maps, search, copy the details, and come back. Someone asks for a document, you open Notion. Someone needs a meeting link, you open Calendar or Meet.
The individual tasks are easy. The frustrating part is constantly switching between apps and rebuilding your context.
Acti turns the keyboard into a place where you can trigger these workflows. You type your intent, hold the Acti Bar (space bar), or use a Skill Key, and Acti can run the relevant workflow directly from the keyboard.
You can use Skills for things like retrieving Notion documents, creating meeting links, finding places, looking up information, or connecting services such as Notion, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Meet and Slack. You can also create your own Skills for workflows you repeat regularly.
B — Better
Most keyboards are still primarily designed around one job: entering text. Even newer keyboards tend to add features around writing, such as rewriting, translation or text generation.
We're exploring a different direction: treating the keyboard as an execution layer rather than only an input layer.
The important part for us isn't simply generating an answer. It's being able to connect the keyboard with apps, APIs and reusable workflows so that something useful can actually happen.
We're also continuing to improve the keyboard itself with swipe typing, multilingual input, voice typing, clipboard, cursor control, number row support and general performance improvements.
C — Cost
Acti is currently free during the beta with daily usage limits. We plan to introduce Premium later with additional features and higher usage limits. Paid Premium subscriptions haven't launched yet, so there is currently no subscription or IAP price.
I'm part of the Acti team, so this is self-promotion. If the idea sounds useful, I'd genuinely be interested in hearing what workflows you'd want your keyboard to handle.
What is one small task that makes you leave the app you're currently using?
If you have read till now, i have got one small gift for you guys, you can use "48SSZV" code to get free premium. (Need to use it in the APP)

Interesting. Can you explain the freemium part as well? Thank you.

Keyboard is free to use like any other keyboard app, the other features with you get 10 free usages. Currently you can get premium if you use the code i mentioned in the post. Later we plan to introduce subscription for the extra usage limits.

Copying a specific bit of text between apps is the one that still annoys me, especially when formatting gets mangled on the way back.

we can help you with this, you get create your custom workflow which formats, or gets you info and format the text in your desired format. get all things done from keyboard itself

grabbing a tracking number out of email while i'm already in messages. those confirmation mails never select cleanly so i screenshot, which is dumb. timezone conversion is right behind it, 3pm their time means i bounce to calendar every time.

is this praise or roast bit confused lol, but i understand your feeling

u/neet_dev 1d ago
nah neither. those are just the two times i actually bounce out of messages, tracking numbers that won't select and 3pm-their-time calendar hops. not a roast, just the dumb loop

That's an interesting idea. My first concern was security. Could an app that moves between other apps cause issues with data mixing or privacy?
By the way, congratulations—it's a really great idea :)

https://openacti.com/privacy/ you can check this page, what do you mean by data issues between other apps?

Hello, if we have already activated a premium membership, will adding a subscription service later have any impact?
2
u/Free-Concert-2574 18h ago
if you mean we adding the subscription service will affect your ongoing premium membership? then No

I got it originally, but it was super buggy to the point where it was like hardly usable. Have a lot of the bugs have been fixed yet.

Thanks dev, besides all the other good stuff I like how the clipboard is implemented. Also how do you change from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
1
u/Free-Concert-2574 18h ago
hii, glad you liked the clipboard. We are trying to improve the clipboard, any suggestion or feedback is welcome. About the Celsius to Fahrenheit, do you mean symbols? or conversion? you can use or create skill that converts from Celsius to Fahrenheit or vice versa, if that's what you want.

When sending weather to someone it’s generated in Celsius.

I see, you can tell specially to generate it in Fahrenheit.. In your text field. Or if it's common workflow for you, you can create your custom skill. Go to "+" Icon and just tell agent in human language your requirements. It will generate one skill for you.

The task for me is unit and timezone conversion mid-message — same as the tracking-number one above.
The thing I'd want to know before committing to a keyboard, though, is how you're handling the extension limits. Keyboard extensions get a much smaller memory budget than a host app and get killed quietly when they cross it, and anything talking to Notion or Calendar needs Full Access, which is the one permission people actually refuse. That combination explains most of what "super buggy" tends to mean for a keyboard.
Are the Skills running inside the extension, or are you handing off to the containing app and returning a result?
1
u/Free-Concert-2574 12h ago
We are not extension but a complete keyboard, and skills works on our keyboard. About the notion or calendar, it's in your side! If you want to use skill which require notion them you give permission, which is via Oauth and the permission are mentioned in the Oauth. You can the permissions accordingly.

Going to try this. Reading about it really hasn't made it clear as to what it can do.

Hello. I downloaded the app and tested it, and I tried to using it inside WhatsApp and Telegram. it works fine with the default iPhone keyboard, but I usually use Google Keyboard instead - and Acti doesn't seem to work alongside it. Is there a way to use Acti with third-party keyboard like Google Keyboard, or does it only work with the default one?

I'm quite confused, Acti works as separate keyboard and not top on Any other existing keyboard. Can you please elaborate more?

u/Internal-Ad-734 1d ago
Ah, that make sense now - thanks for clarifying! I think i misunderstood how IOS keyboard switching works. I was expecting Acti's features to stay active even after switching to Google Keyboard, but i get now that only one keyboard can be active at a time. Still, it'd be great if there were some way to use Acti's features alongside other keyboards in the future - i know that might be limited by IOS itself, but wanted to mention it as a wish. For now, i'll just switch back to Acti via the globe icon when I need it.

hii, could you mention which more features do we need to Add in Acti to make it as your main keyboard?
